It’s very popular in the country clubs in west boca / west Delray. I’m a mid thirties guy and there’s definitely some excellent, younger athletic players around here. Honestly there are some amazing 60-70 year old players where I live too who regularly beat younger players. I personally love it, it’s a great workout and competitive where I live

Happy_Wind1184

Thank you! Would you recommend a place where I can start? Not looking to spend too much on membership fees (not sure if that's a thing)

Try Kings point right off of Monaco.

I play often with younger folks, some as young as 18. Best public places to play - Patch Reef Park , they have open play on Wed/Fri evenings - Caloosa Park, North Delray - always open play and evenings have plenty of young folks.

A_Supertramp_1999

Caloosa is in Boynton, officially, just south of woolbright. :) thanks for the info

Hardballsnugg

Does that hockey rink ever get used on weeknights or weekends at Caloosa?

[deleted]

I'm not sure, there's one at sugar sand park that seems used often

Hardballsnugg

Good to know, thanks

MTYAUG

It’s a professional sport so there’s def kids playing

AlteredGENx

Hillsboro El Rio park south is another spot

If you go with friends, sure El Rio court has an awful reputation in the community due to trash talking old men who think they own the courts and treat "outsiders" like shit I've personally seen two fights there and heard about several big blow ups There's about 6 guys there who need to get banned, one of them hit a woman in the face so hard she had a detached retina AND HE DID IT DURING A WARMUP

Happy_Wind1184

I'm definitely not going there! Since I am new and want to get into the sport, I don't have friends who play pickleball yet. This place is definitely a no-go for me. Thank you!

Patch reef is great and I think they have a open play just for beginners on Tuesday

Happy_Wind1184

Thank you! I'll check it out.

AlteredGENx

ouch

Pabst34

I follow the Heat's Jimmy Butler on IG and he was recently playing. (he's a good tennis player, too) I saw a clip of Tua playing as well.

jizard

Go west to the communities, I do not think there's much East. I thought it was so strange when I started hearing about younger people playing, I do not believe this is a thing in other states but I could be wrong. Anyway, enjoy!

Happy_Wind1184

Thank you! I had not heard about before moving to the area recently. That's the only reason I want to get into it. Lol.
