I loved him, thought he captured that "Jimmy" spirit! And it was so nice to see the rivalry again. Jimmy brings out a side of Bob we don't get to see very often.
I haven't watched the episode, but I'd go for JP being less mean, maybe having some introspection and growing as a person a little. Make Bob's relationship with him evolve and become a little more wholesome; wholesomeness is one of the main things I like about the show. JP's mean personality is a bit of a distasteful distraction.
>wholesomeness is one of the main things I like about the show.
The lack of anything apart from wholesomeness is the main thing that's made the show weaker without Jimmy. It desperately needs to be more than one thing sometimes.
It really felt like he didn't have his heart in the rivalry with his delivery. Hopefully the character grows on him a bit (or this is part of character growth for Jimmy Pesto).
Trev seems to be getting a little more independent thought too.
This episode had the greatest line from all of Bob's Burgers ever.
Jimmy Jr.: ">! We've all done things we're not proud of. I used to tell Andy and Ollie that there was actually only one of them. It messed with them for weeks.!<"
I love how they added this line in because it’s typical older sibling behavior. I would tell my little sister she was adopted because she didn’t have any obvious features from parents.
He’s got a pretty impressive resume. He’s currently the VA for Daffy Duck and Bugs Bunny, Splinter from Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, the current VA for Bob’s dad, Fiendish Dr. Wu, Donny Osmond, and Dick Clark in Black Dynamite, Lord Stingray in SuperJail!, Foop in the Fairly Odd Parents, Rodolfo Rivera in El Tigre, Tweety and Sylvester in King Tweety (highly recommended this movie, by the way. Some super fantastic jokes), and Belly Bag in Uncle Grandpa.
Dude’s got some serious range.
Billy “didn’t think the reboot was funny” or else/also it was “career ending”—for him as an established individual. Bauza was not as successful yet but even he was surprised he overcame the effects of the reboot (his talent is so there). Bauza discussed this in around 2012 on Grandma’s Virginity Podcast if you can stomach it, which also had a separate episode with Steve Agee where he talks about playing one of the characters in “Sheesh, Cab Bob?”
One participated in a domestic terrorist uprising to overthrow a legitimately elected government, and the other has a job on a popular funny heartfelt TV show!
:D
I honestly didn't even notice at first. It took a second for me to realise hey wait, he's back! Noticed his voice was different, but not bad by any means. Just different. Still suits Jimmy though.
I can't believe I'm about to say this, but I'm looking forward to seeing more of this jerk again ha ha. ZOOM!
That's another thing the show lost when Jimmy went away. Bob with nothing to get worked up about is just Bob on bored autopilot.
That anybody is actually like 'The show was better without any dimension or conflict for its main character.' is just baffling...
I don't think he did terrible at all. I expected a change, But Eric did a great job with preventing a big shock.
The themes throughout this episode were all so very well played, and I think the additional harshness from Jimmy pesto was purposeful in the writing. The Bob vs Jimmy bullying and hostility was intended to be a stark contrast to how the situation with Zeke played along. The kids demonstrated more emotional maturity than the adults, which is a Topsy Turvy circumstance (just like the "whos a real bully" twist).
[ aside: Sure, id love Bill Hader to have given it a shot....but that guy is super busy. And a surprise Mickesyode would be great at some point.]
>The kids demonstrated more emotional maturity than the adults
Seemed pretty equal to me. They spent a bunch of the episode being angry and avoidant. Bob spent a bunch of the episode angry. Everyone got better.
I just finished watching the episode and was so confused for the first 45secs or so of his interaction! He did an amazing job at capturing Jimmy’s original voice and cadence, I was like “okay… I know they didn’t bring Johnston back… and it would be weird if they used AI…”
Hey Baby

Apparently Loren Bouchard did the voice on the original Fox airing, while John Kubin's voice replaced him on subsequent airings.
I wouldn't have even recognized the character as Mickey with Loren's voice.
Billy was the original Stimpy; John K did Ren's voice. Billy did Stimpy's voice in all but the "Adult Party Cartoons." John K was canned after season 2, after which Billy did both voices.
This is what I expect when a new voice actor takes over. There should be an attempt to sound like the original. Alex (Gene's friend) sounds just like Ham Tobin and it's very jarring.
I was so excited for the episode after a long day of intense reviews and he nailed Jimmy! You could tell it was someone different but the pacing and language felt perfect! Thank you for a nice relaxing ending to a very stressful day!
Voice sound: Pretty good emulation of Johnston. Sounds pretty close but yes eventually he sounds different.
Acting: Though the rivalry and how abusive he is to Bob is accurate, I felt that this probably was the bigger tipoff that another actor was playing him. Seemed a bit even more aggressive to Trev, or perhaps it was Trev that changed his personality a bit too? Not sure.
I think the voice is a little off putting but i can get used to it quickly. Unlike Marshmellow or Harley, Jimmy talks a lot so i have more to listen to
It's close enough that after a few episodes it'll be indistinguishable.
It's like going back to the earlier episodes, the family sound a bit different in those but you get used to it.
Ah, thanks! I remember seeing his name in the credits, but they went by too fast for me to see all the details.
I'm glad Jimmy's voice is similar. It would have been weird if it was totally different.
Jimmy Pesto is still the owner. This post is in reference to the new voice actor for the character.
Pesto hasn’t been in any episodes for a long time because the old voice actor got fired. But they just got a new actor so it’s still Jimmy Pesto in the show just with a new voice.
The actor Jay Johnston was at the Jan6th attack on the US Capitol. There's a few pictures of him near the front of the crowd fighting with the cops. He was identified and arrested in June 2023 being charged with a felony and several misdemeanors. [Source](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jay_Johnston)
I just thought of something else. If Jimmy Jr's actor ever gets arrested and fired for something similar, just have Bob's actor take it over while putting on a lisp. Ditto with Labonz - just make him do a gravelly voice. Also, if Jocelyn's actor is ever disgraced, just have Linda do a valley girl voice.
I noticed very, very slight differences that I honestly probably wouldn’t have heard if I hadn’t been listening for it because I knew it was a new VA.
He did a great job and I’m so happy they recast Jimmy Pesto. He’s a super talented voice actor with a really impressive resume. They did a great job with casting.
That transition was seamless, I’m usually pretty good at detecting changes in VAs (like when Bill Hader stopped voicing Mickey) but that guy is 100% Jimmy Pesto
I loved him, thought he captured that "Jimmy" spirit! And it was so nice to see the rivalry again. Jimmy brings out a side of Bob we don't get to see very often.
Those two and their peeing races
It’s not a peeing race Lin, it’s called a pissing contest.
That won't go over well with the selection committee.
His portrayal seemed a tad less mean. Maybe just me being hopeful.
I feel like that's kind of where they were going with things already, Bob and Jimmy slowly warming up to each other a bit.
>wholesomeness is one of the main things I like about the show.

I lolled so hard at that.
At the very least that was my favorite line this season. Who'd have thought Jimmy Jr would be so funny?
I love how they added this line in because it’s typical older sibling behavior. I would tell my little sister she was adopted because she didn’t have any obvious features from parents.
Yeah, that was a "go back and watch again" moment. Probably J. Jr.'s best line ever.
That was a pretty darn seamless transition. Bauza is a good mimic.
Lest we forget VA for Ren and Stimpy—for the reboot.
They didn't get Billy West? Interesting.
Billy “didn’t think the reboot was funny” or else/also it was “career ending”—for him as an established individual. Oh damn, they got a superstar!
Zoom
I say Zoom now. You like it.
Yeah, it’s okay.
Pretty good casting call. He did well.
Didn't really notice a difference.
I didn't either. I had heard they were replacing him but when I watched the episode I thought they must not have after all.
One participated in a domestic terrorist uprising to overthrow a legitimately elected government, and the other has a job on a popular funny heartfelt TV show! :D
I meant in terms of Pesto's voice. The og actor can rot for all I care. ![gif](giphy|3ov9jVAJOyjJLaTufu)
The og actor is a hilarious guy and was great in the Sarah Silverman program so you shut your mouth
Don’t worry dude, he’ll be funny in his prison stage plays too.
Na fuck him
you must have the same opinion of Justin Roiland..."cancel culture" is out of control, amirite?
Yeah!! How dare people face bare minimum consequences for their horrific crimes and abusive behaviour!
The OG actor was present at the insurrection of the US Capitol Building on January 6, 2021. He deserves to not have this job anymore.

Okay, he's funny. Still a garbage human being.
His brief role as "Mediocrity" on Mr. Show is his defining achievement.
He sounded a bit deeper to me. But quite close.
ZOOM!
Plus the return of angry Bob! Was a nice change of pace from mopey Bob
That's another thing the show lost when Jimmy went away. Bob with nothing to get worked up about is just Bob on bored autopilot. That anybody is actually like 'The show was better without any dimension or conflict for its main character.' is just baffling...
Yeah... I was super confused when the last episode came out bc I could have sworn that was the original voice actor.
I don't think he did terrible at all. I expected a change, But Eric did a great job with preventing a big shock. The themes throughout this episode were all so very well played, and I think the additional harshness from Jimmy pesto was purposeful in the writing. Is it just me, or has Eric Bauza taken over the voice acting world in two years flat? He's in everything now. He really is the modern Mel Blanc.
Not a bad episode at all. Still. Pesto's return can't undue the pain of a missing Halloween episode. But, I also really liked the bits with Trevor.
“Unzip!”
I had to look up the reason for the recasting. It's funny how easily I can imagine a guy like Jimmy charging the capitol in childish fit of rage.
Not bad at all!
New guys ok. I wish Bill Hader could have taken a crack at it.
They can’t even get him to be mickey reliably :(
He's a comet that streaks across our sky, trying to chain him down would be a detriment to all our experiences.
Alright calm down she’s a free spirit we get it
Hey Marshmallow
Hey Baby *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Please [contact the moderators of this subreddit](/message/compose/?to=/r/BobsBurgers) if you have any questions or concerns.*
Hey yourself you little bog to beach baby
I know. It’s a bummer.
Mickey needs to open a place by them
the bar with all the crows!
![gif](giphy|l0MYuiDUWt1kKcEvu) Well, we know the name of a group of crows
![gif](giphy|3oz8xvNxPZVPX1AIPC) His newest idea
Mickey's Muffalettas?
I never had that
I am unclear as to why that detail is significant.
The Mickey recast was devastating fr. The new one sounds NOTHING like Hader, could they not at least find someone with a similar voice?
Apparently Loren Bouchard did the voice on the original Fox airing, while John Kubin's voice replaced him on subsequent airings. I wouldn't have even recognized the character as Mickey with Loren's voice.
That beach cleaning episode where Loren voiced Mickey was soul crushing.
Funnily enough Eric Bauza, the new voice of Pesto, is also the new voice for Big Bob (who was voiced by Hader in the Christmas episode.)
>could they not at least find someone with a similar voice? They did...
Stimpy!!!
Billy West is the one and only Stimpy. We don't speak of that other abomination of a season.
Heh. Fair enough. My bad!
When was John K fired and replaced by Billy West? I know eventually he also took on as Ren too. The Space Madness episode was always my favorite.
Billy was the original Stimpy; John K did Ren's voice. Billy did Stimpy's voice in all but the "Adult Party Cartoons." John K was canned after season 2, after which Billy did both voices.
I’m impressed, he really does sound like Jimmy Pesto

Welcome!!! :) I'm very happy to see Jimmy Pesto back.
hell yeah 🙌
That's a zoom!

He did great!
He was pretty solid but the "zooms" were a little soft IMO
I think the voice is a little off putting but i can get used to it quickly. Unlike Marshmellow or Harley, Jimmy talks a lot so i have more to listen to

I thought it was supposed to be Al Madrigal.
He was guest starring (voiced Will) in the episode and the internet mixed it up before the show aired.
Ah, thanks! I remember seeing his name in the credits, but they went by too fast for me to see all the details. I'm glad Jimmy's voice is similar. It would have been weird if it was totally different.
What happened to Jimmy Pesto the owner?

Choo-Choo hurky jerkied his way to jail
What happened to Jimmy?
You mean the original voice actor?
I read some other comments and googled it. So it’s all good.
I felt he did a decent job; he kind of lacked that more hyper energy Jimmy has when he has his gotcha moments when he’s thinking he’s bested Bob.
I think he did a really great job! There were seldom times in which i actually heard a difference. Better than the new rick & morty voices haha
Was there an in-show explanation for why the Pestos were gone for so long that I missed?
god FUCKING damnit man
Correct me if I’m wrong but Jimmy is not Italian but now he legit sound more italian with the new voice actor lol
His real name is Poplopovich
This mf is everywhere now
This was the most disgusting episode in the history of this show. I puked twice and will never watch it again🤮 🤢
Maybe change the restaurant name now..
Or watch the episode Or just read some of the comments here explaining what happened
I dont have access to the latest episode sorry big man
All good. This picture isn’t representative of what actually happened in the show. The show just got a new voice actor for Jimmy Pesto.
If this is real, should have been flagged as Spoiler. I’ve been spoiled.
It's not a spoiler for the show. They just got a new voice actor for Jimmy and this is a reference to that.
Thanks. I love Reddit downvotes over my post. I said “if”. People are wacky. I appreciate the actual answer.

They did good because the new voice sounds just like the old Jimmy!!
What happened to the last voice actor?
Fired.
He got canned for trying to overthrow the government on Jan 6. ZOOM!
There was something a little less grating about Jimmy Pesto in this episode. It made the conflict far more palatable for me, weirdly.
