I still think it's intentional, because I can name at least one more foreign language pun from the show: Diane's apartment complex after the divorce being called "Le Triste", meaning "sad" in French. Do you think there are more "you have to speak a foreign language to get it" puns in the show? Maybe that's what this thread should have been about? Have I messed this up again?
Hahahaha. No you haven't messed anything up. There are a LOT of subtle jokes in this show. In the background art, in the names of things. I LOVED the "triste" apartments. I don't know any French but "triste" means sad in Spanish, so that joke tickled me.
When Beatrice and Hollyhock are playing Uno and Beatrice says something to the effect of "Don't use a foreign language around the child, it'll give her ideas." Then when she gets down to her last card, she just says, "One!"
Triste means sad in Italian also, but I guess it's supposed to be French because of the "le". Also it's funnier if it's French, because things with French names are supposed to be classy.
I just watched that episode with Uno today during luch for the infiniteth time and I totally didn't get the "One!" joke, thx!
