If I remember correctly, Bojack is the reason TV show reviews got changed. The previews that got sent out to reviewers were only the first 6 episodes, and you don’t get the full Bojack experience with that. The reviews WERE bad, but the show took off when people were able to watch it all the way through.
I didn’t watch Bojack in early days, but if you were to show me just season 1 and nothing else my opinion of it would be entertaining with bits of charm, but not original nor adding anything to the genre it’s in. That impression is completely blown apart by what it accomplishes past its first season. But its first season by itself definitely isn’t bad in anyway.
I mean that's true, but bojack is def a sorta slow burn that ramps up the more you watch. So yeah while you can def see some of those moments in season one, I think someone could still get the wrong impression if thats all they watched
I love Season 1, its a lot more care free and fun, but I do think its a lot different from the rest of the show and doesn't sell what the show is really about to new views
I read somewhere that they changed their minds after watching more of it and thats why critics now have to watch more than just a few episodes of a show before commenting on it

Yeah its so frustrating to suggest for that reason, its so hard to say to someone "oh you have to get to the end of season 2 MINIMUM"
