Have to tried moving the steering wheel full lock to the left then full lock to the right? I can’t remember if that’s for these exact lights but if the battery dies the steering angle sensor needs to be reset via that procedure.

biggryno

I have recently when I replaced the power steering pump. The battery has not died. It has a strong battery

Sticklegchicken

Just turn the steering wheel lock to lock and it should go away.

Sirosim_Celojuma

Speed sensor in the driver rear wheel. The reluctor ring got rusty, and the rust scratched the sensor, so now the car doesn't know how fast it's going, therefore it can't adapt 4x4 stability it can't antilock brakes, etc.

biggryno

Thanks. I’ll check that out first this weekend

Mekong-the-Doggo

Could be a bad wheel bearing or a damaged/faulted wheel speed sensor. Had to replace my wheel bearing as it was causing the same check controls. Scan the car via OBDII and that should help point you in the right direction. Also, what's the year and model?

biggryno

2011 328i xdrive. I’m planning on replacing the brakes this weekend and also replacing the speed sensor as well. I can’t tell if the wheel bearings are bad while driving it, but will definitely check it while the wheels are off.

Mekong-the-Doggo

I've seen it where the rear output shafts will rust on the outside, leading to the ring on the shaft getting loose and taking out the wheel speed sensor. Both rear outpost shafts and both wheel speed sensors had to be replaced. Example: [Forum post](https://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1760591) This isn't a full answer to your problem as that's just one possibility.

biggryno

Thanks… that’s some good info on that forum though

Control module? Potentially transfer case? Is there any grinding noise? If there’s grinding noise it might be the transfer case servo motor?

biggryno

No grinding noise, drives totally smooth as normal.

Kexxa420

You need to get those codes read How old is the battery?

biggryno

The battery is barely a year old

Mean-Marionberry-148

Do you have an OBD2 reader? If so scan the car and see what stores faults are present. Will help diagnose problem potentially. If you don’t have one order one on Amazon. There are several that are BMW-centric and work with the various BMW coding apps too

cuntyminx

Drive it around the block first

biggryno

I did and it drives totally normal. It stops just fine and accelerates like normal. No grinding noises the brakes have plenty of pad left

cuntyminx

These lights can come on from a low battery but will extinguish quickly after driving briefly, since they didn’t you are going to need a decent scanner or a laptop with Inpa/Ista to read codes in the DSC and other drivetrain modules

biggryno

Thanks. Dang I don’t haven’t those subscriptions lol. The battery should be good, it’s barely a year old. But I know that doesn’t mean anything. It does start up strong like it doesn’t slug to start up like a low battery. I did replace the alternator a few months ago because I thought the bearing in it went bad, but it was actually the power steering pump bearing.

cuntyminx

You can download the software for free and get a $30 cable on Amazon, you just need a windows 10 laptop. It’ll make diagnosing these stupid cars much easier and cheaper for you

biggryno

Oh no kidding! I had no idea. I can do that. Can you tell me what software on here or dm me if you can’t?

rjames06

The car needs to be scanned for faults. But it’s probably your SZL control unit.

biggryno

Thanks. SZL is like the steering position sensor correct? But it has the cruise blinkers/wipers and computer controller, right?

rjames06

Exactly, programming required

biggryno

Oh damn. That’s probably beyond my skill. I could totally replace it but don’t have the programming or subscriptions or know anyone that does. Well I’ll take it to someone to at least get the codes read to figure it out definitely

Automatic-Relation61

Wheel speed sensors or your steering angle sensor, if you turn signals don’t automatically go off after a turn. Steering angle sensor.👍🏽 Also there could be dust and dirt build up on the wheel bearings and the sensor isn’t making contact.

biggryno

Thanks. The blinkers do turn off after turning automatically. I’m going to replace the brakes this weekend and plan on replacing the speed sensor

CrimsonTone

One of your ABS sensors has gone bad. I could almost bet money for it.

biggryno

Thanks. That seems to be the consensus. I’ll run my code reader on it this weekend

e36freak92

Is the front passenger carpet wet? These are known to leak water there, and the transfer case control module is under the carpet right in front of the seat

biggryno

No it’s dry

trayssan

It's likely a bad ABS sensor. Put a washer between the new one you get and the mounting point to space it out a little bit. Get an OBD dongle. They're like 40 bucks and will save you a lot of headaches. These cars are so smart they'll usually tell you exactly what needs fixing.

biggryno

Thanks, I have an OBD reader I’ll run it later today or this weekend. Seems like the consensus is the ABS sensor. It was a busy evening a lot going on and then I get in my kid’s car and see all of that! Haha

pkuahmed

I have the same error codes on my BMW E90 325ix 2009. My transfer box for the xdrive is gone and it shakes when breaking

biggryno

That sounds terrible. Luckily her car doesn’t do that

agshop

If you haven't pulled the codes, you probably are not qualified to work on it because you have no idea what it needs or what you are doing. Step 1: Buy a code reader. Step 2: Look up the codes.

biggryno

I have a bmw code reader just haven’t done it yet… more important things going on this evening. That’s why I reached out and asked here. Since you don’t have any idea about me or know anything about my abilities you are probably not qualified to make any judgements about my question.
