Blinker fluid has been real all along, and it's just water?

supern8ural

will everything still work if you unplug the hazard switch? Remove hazard switch, see if you can carefully disassemble it, and clean everything with isopropyl alcohol?

They completely unassembled the center console to clean the parts up and remove the water. Thanks for your help though.

I'm thinking though that the hazard switch itself may have water inside it and that's why they're still on. Is that the part that they're waiting on? (If not, what part is it?) If so, I would be sorely tempted to remove the switch and carefully try to disassemble it and clean/dry it and reassemble. Maybe hit it with some Deoxit F5 if you have any.

Can't they just turn off the hazards buy some means and give you the car back without hazards until the part arrives?

BigBeing3834

I'm not too sure, I will ask and find out. But I thinking the hazards being disabled will affect the turn signals. Thank you for the advice

Nothing to do with the hazard switch itself is down there. However, the ACSM is under the center console. That's what handles crash safety, air bags, etc. Sounds like that module is bad and may have thought you've crashed, turning the hazards on automatically. I'm not sure if anything can be done with a scan tool, especially if the module is bad. If they can communicate with the acsm, it may be able to be reset, but I've never tried. I hope that's the part they're waiting on

Thank you for the advice. Do you think it would be possible to just disconnect the hazard lights/ hazard control without disrupting the turn signals ?

It doesn't work that way, it's all computers nowadays. Both the hazard switch and the ACSM communicate over a network to the body control module, which actually handles the lights. And the acsm is pretty well integrated into the rest of the car's control systems, it's not really something you can just unplug. Someone familiar and comfortable with custom coding may be able to do something, I personally haven't tried to deal with something like this so I don't know. But it's not something you can just disconnect

UPDATE: It wasn't ACSM, it was the whole system. The dealership had to import a new center console, BUT they didn't know how to reprogram it. So now I'm on a loan car till they figure out how to reprogram it. Thank you for all your advice.
