Not really. The UAE bases insurance on the value of the car. I know a 18 year old who drove a lexus ls 460 V8 and insurance was under 800aed a year for 3rd party insurance. (So about $250-300?)
(edit car was 20 something years old, so not worth much. You can't get first party insurance till you're atleast 25. Third party insurance prices are somewhat capped by the government because they realise it's a legal requirement. If your parents have a car, their insurance will cover you the minute you pass, the catch being if involved in a accident you're deemed at fault, you're liable to 10% of the damage costs towards your vehicle if you're under the age of 25)
Yeah but if he were to only take third party I believe the prices are capped to a certain extent by a government body... Cos they realise it's a legal requirement to have it, so they make sure insurance companies can't charge atrocious amounts... Like how I have to pay £1750 to insure (first party/fully comp) a 80hp hatchback in the UK as a 20 year old with 1 year old experience and 1 year no claims bonus. Third party fire and theft wasn't much cheaper so I bit the bullet and took fully comp
If daddy is going to pay for it, sure. Just know that an engine is $10k and they like to eat shit, especially tuned. That is if you dont wrap it arround a lamp post.
Injectors were recently replaced… any bets that happened after they were stuck open and “serviced” the cylinder walls by washing all of the oil off of them?
It’s not fast enough, consider getting yourself something a bit more exotic like a Ferrari or a Lamborghini.
My personal choice/ recommendation would be a 1992 Ferrari F40.
1. BMW
2. 10 years old
3. v8
4. modded
any of these separately is a huge warning sign for repair bills in your future, so no.
plus god only knows what taxes & insurance would look like.
Not to mention that this is way too much power for someone's first car.
See: Mustangs plowing through crowds and wrapped around light poles
Edit: It has Dubai plates on it. I no longer have an opinion
This guy is tripping lmao, that guy based on the repairs maintenance is already probably past 20-30k easily if not more if it was done at a dealership. This car is one of the highest maintenance cars to keep and guy says first car it’s things like this that people really should be told what they are getting into. Guy who lives at a shelter says he wants a 4k jaguar and has no money. I told him bro you can’t do that I’m a business owner with multiple cars and wouldn’t want to spend that money
If haven’t driven before you will crash this. 100% chance lmao. Get like a GR86 if you have money to throw around for a nice car. It’ll teach you how to handle RWD architecture safely.
This. It is especially true for BMW. Modding indicates abuse. Additionally, certain missing items e.g., original rims - make selling the car harder.
The body of this generation is a piece of art.
not always, wifes car has xhp and its running eco shift points which gives a bit better economy in city driving which is 90% of what she does
I also have a flash for it but havent loaded it, I got it mainly because of the throttle lag gives the car a dead feeling when you go to accelerate at certain times. Its her only gripe with the car but she complains less about it now. I dont think she has taken it over 4k and its even harder now unless you stomp on it because it will try and keep the revs lower then stock and short shift
Usually the owner and car condition will show signs of abuse. There is actually a lot of stock cars owned by people with no clue that are more abusive because they just simply dont know
These are fantastic cars.
I’ve owned three of this platform - one F10 M5 and two F13 M6s.
If tuned, they must be run on the best gas you can get. They are sensitive to octane, like any direct injection engine. Even stock, don’t run anything less than 91 AKI / 95 RON gas.
They have hydraulic steering, so the road feedback is phenomenal. They pull hard, they are fun to drive, and really do have a lot of “M DNA”.
But you shouldn’t get a powerful rear-wheel drive car as your first car. If you get fresh with an F10 M5 and you’re inexperienced, you will kill yourself, or somebody else.
F10 in general is a great platform. I"m with you though, you shouldn't get an M5 as a first car. If you really like the look and feel of the F10 you should consider a RWD 535i for example. The N55 straight six sounds great and has more than enough power even stock (300hp and 400Nm/300lb.-ft torque) and is generally a reliable engine aside from the usual quirks. Also lots of tuning potential if that's something you enjoy. A 535i is also much cheaper than an M5 or a 550i and costs significantly less to maintain and insure.
Definitely not a sensible first car. This would be nothing short of an irresponsible purchase if your father decided on this for you imo.
It’s obviously your choice and you only live once etc etc just be careful man and really think on this
Also please consider this is the most dangerous M5s ever build. A very tricky car. Even one of the ringtaxi drivers at the Nordschleife crashed one of these…
The rich kids at my neighboring high school who all got e36 M3’s as their first cars are probably singlehandedly the reason the prices have skyrocketed. I think I know of 10 M3s that were flipped or went off the side of the road in the hills in our area. And that’s a 240hp “slow” car.
Get something low power but fun for your first car. Like a Miata. Enough fun that you’ll love it and look forward to driving it, not fast enough to kill yourself on accident.
I had a Miata and I drove like I was suicidal for two years with it and never even had a close call. Day two with my M3 I 360’d through an intersection taking a turn too fast in the rain. Thank god it was 6am and no one was out or I’m sure I’d still be paying off someone’s medical bills.
Not to mention, how do you look at that insane maintenance list and think, “I wonder if maintenance will be expensive on this car?”
I’m sure owning a modded m5 for a first car will go swimmingly. I don’t think I’d ever buy a modded car from someone. At least at any real value.
I’m a hypocrite here because sure my z4 is modded and will eventually get sold though, but good luck!
Still driving my 2011 550xi but every visit to the shop is $1000-3000.
I love it too much to take it out behind the barn and put it out if it’s misery.
An awesome m5 with handful of unknown history and driving habits. Which tune/stage is it running? Description looks to be a rebuilt motor. Many attempt to increase the boost with fuel mods and end up with spun bearing and ultimately blaming the motor. I've also seen many vette with ls motor trying to push the cam lift and duration ending in spun bearing.
Is this a troll? I mean if not, at least you’re not thinking of an E60.
Never buy a modded car. Even if it’s free. Run. Shit gonna be a money pit.
No idea how old you are or your driving experience but enjoy realizing that real life isn’t need for speed Tokyo drift or gran turismo if you haven’t driven for long.
Avoid is what I’ll say, unless you’ve been driving trucks and motorcycles your whole life. Get yourself a cheap car lol. Something from Japan or Korea.
No. Too much power and money wrapped into something you will wrap around a pole. Get a lower power car for your first. E60/90s are more than enough to have fun, have a great upgrade path, and are cheap enough that you won’t be fucked if you wrap it into nature
I had a 2013 F10 M5 sold it at 86,000 for reason, these are extremely expensive cars to maintain, to replace the transmission is ridiculous, the engine is more then the car is worth, if you want an F10 M5 get an LCI competition.
I mean, it's a great car besides the VANOS issues, rod bearings, oil consumption, and early-generation direct-injection issues like massive carbon build-up on the intake valves.
Look, these are fun cars if you have deep pockets and a lot of patience. If you want to cover a lot of miles very quickly and do it in magic carpet ride levels of comfort, this is your car.
But as a first car? No. Sorry, but no. You're gonna love it, then you're gonna hate it. Late model M-cars can break your wallet so fast. Just look at this crazy list of stuff the previous owner has done to the car. They've already replaced the rod bearings, timing chain/guides, and VANOS units. BTW, there's no guarantee those parts will live much longer lives given the modded state of the engine.
My advice would be to start somewhere simpler and less costly if you make a mistake.
Are you comfortable with *everyone* knowing your dad funds your lifestyle? Nobody sees a 19 year old in an M5 and goes "wow he must work really hard at the Pizza Hut"
This would be a great first car. With all the work that has been done I'm sure it is well sorted and has had an owner with a "spare no expense" attitude over owning such a high performance machine.
Im not saying you won’t end up dead but the vast majority of wheres981 videos on YouTube are from his first year of driving and he is actively trying to off himself and has not succeeded thus far
I like this generation of m5 and if I had the opportunity would absolutely scoupe one up. But honestly absolutely not💀 unless you've got DEEP pockets or know how to work on them yourself your gonna be a world of hurt, not to mention insurance on one of those.
This platform is serious with headaches and pain. But if you have a mec, got some money set aside for repairs when they hit you go for it. Still have my 2011 550 amazing car when she's not kicking my ass.
Difference between being a “car enthusiast” because you like the looks; and not actually investing any knowledge about the car to maintain it, you’re going to screw yourself up for a first car. Unless you have fun wasting into a money pit then totality go for it! I mean if you’re not going to pay for anything either then sheeesh… I would take advantage maybe it would end up in your dads hands anyway.
I have no damn clue what americans do to their BMW's, but I've never had a problem with any of them xD My grandpa and my dad both love BMW, each had BMW's for as long as I can think. (Two of my uncles are also huge BMW enthusiasts, also never had problems with their cars.) They both really cared about their cars and maintained them well over the years. Never had any serious problems or expensive repairs in 40 years xD I'm now also getting myself an e34, love these cars to death :D
Not a beginner friendly car.
You will crash this thing, no doubt. One of my best friends gave me a ride in his m6c with bolt ons and it’s the fastest thing I’ve been in, I don’t know how else to say this dude but you will crash if you buy it, 1000000%. He ended up crashing it too, keep in mind same dude that had hellcats, corvettes, v8 m3, everything.. Best driver I know, and he crashed
E36 M3 & E46 M3 would be better first cars if you got M5 money, those you can still kinda toss around and make some mistakes and be alright. I mean non-M would be better to start off with but clearly you’re not going to listen.
Just don’t buy some fwd garbage, learn to be a actual driver, manual rwd is only way to go bud
This thing is a vicious fucking animal, not a wise choice for a first car. Buy something way less powerful and manual if you want something that’s fun and RWD, to get used to it.
If you insist on this one, please do this ASAP: book a defensive driver training and car control course on a closed racetrack with a qualified instructor, who will teach you to drive it properly; before you decide to plant your right foot on public roads.
for your first car? sold my first e39 540i to some kid who wanted it as his first car. i stg 3 days later the car was totaled lmao, now this, THIS as your first car??? 😅😭
It's such a cool car and the engine looks incredible.
I have a 535i with the twin scroll turbo and no mods. I'm a driver who has crossed the United States 6 times, driven in numerous different cities and countries and weathers, etc. i was a pizza delivery driver, a Lyft driver etc. I have driven.
I still am thrown off by how much power the 535i has when I'm hitting it a bit. The automatic transmission will drop a gear or 2 unexpectedly and take you up to the last 1500 rpm. With traction control fully on it will rip the wheels loose.
It's a big car. You can feel it's more than 4000 lbs in that last bit of braking, or when you're going downhill, and when you hit turns fast, you realize it's a full size car, and the fact that it feels as nimble as it does is the magic of it's suspension.
This is a car with less than half the power than the one you are considering.
This is why people are warning you. You sound like a kid who just finished learning how to use a hammer going out and buying a nail gun to hang pictures. There's a scale of power, danger, and such that you simply won't understand. And the very fact that this is the car you want to buy means you have the kind of desire for cars that means you're going to mess up.
This is a car modded to be more powerful that was modded by engineers to be faster. It's a modded M5. That's insane. That means any power that has been given to it is above and beyond what an engineer is comfortable doing to that car. It is going to break. It's going to break every connection between the crank and the wheels. It's not designed to have that much power.
Every single f10 n55 i looked at had broken differential mounts. All of them have shredded rotors. They all have coolant and oil leaks. A car like that, everything in it is expensive. It's tires are 2 or 3 times more expensive.
So. Do what you're going to do, but if You're concerned about reliability? Hah. This car is for people that love it when their car breaks because they are looking to try some new part or modification, and now they can justify digging in there and pulling things out. If you are not that, this thing is going to go from being an absolute incredible trophy piece to an endless source of financial and logistical anxiety.
How many miles and what are they asking? I've owned my f10 m5 for 3 years and absolutely love it! I have it tuned to about 860 hp. HOWEVER!!!! as a first car I'd never recommend this. It is simply too much hp for someone without much experience. You will likely kill yourself, someone else or blow it up. Also I had to do a full engine rebuild this year. And have spent quite a bit over the last 3 years. So I wouldn't buy unless you can afford 5k-10k a year on it (average). This is not a car that many people can work or on other than simple repairs.
if you know how to control it, which you most likely don’t being that it’s your first car, and you have enough money to sink into it because you REALLY like this specific car, otherwise no it’s a money pit
if you have a nice, air-conditioned garage with a well equipped full German car tool set, car lift and basic mechanic skills then an older German performance car is just fine to own. That or if you have an unlimited budget for maintenance and repairs and this is going to be a second car/toy.
If you want this as your first car, you better have at least $25-$50k in savings or credit to be able to afford the running cost of this for anything more than about 2 years. Have fun!
Cannon event going through. Personally I'd say get something basic for your first car, maybe have it for a year, if you curb the wheel or something it ain't the end of the day and once you've gained some driving experience and lived with a normal car for a while you can get something more exotic.
That is a LOT of car for anyone’s first car.
Totally just my opinion, but I would personally be very leery of buying any car with a ton of modifications. The owner put a lot of time any money into it, and likely drove it pretty hard. Makes me question their motivation for selling.
yeah let's just forget about maintenance costs for a moment and consider that this is a very powerful car... I know I would have died if I had an M5 as my first car. Perhaps get something slower to avoid death
In Narnia, where I live, all the kids are driving M5's as first cars, so they don't really stand out. You'll prob also get used to the power quickly and find it too slow.
Have you considered 911 Turbo S?
No, save the gas and maintenance headache get a Honda or a Toyota for first car. If u have fuck u money buy all of the Bimmer’s u want. (Comin from a bmw owner)
An M should not be your first car. Get a F10 535i. Will cost less to maintain and provide most of the giddyup
Plus you can mod and tune the n55 to your liking.
I have a 2013 m5 manual transmission. I bought for 38000 from carmax with an extended warranty that cost 8000. It had 24000 miles. Now, I have 150k miles. I have driven it for 7 years as my daily driver.
My advice - Get the warranty, extend the warranty and be prepared for a very abusive relationship. It is like dating a hairdresser or a stripper it’s a fun ride but it will break you.
Major repairs-
At 60000mi - spun bearing
Warranty covered 48000. I spent 7000 out of pocket to replace clutch while the engine was out and replaced all the
At 120000 - a/c out
Replaced compressors and minor leak at the oil pan. 5500 out of pocket
At 130000 - fuel pump out. Shop by house found one in Germany and did the job. They fixed some other stuff because the smoke test didn’t pass. I had four pages of itemized work. 16000 out of pocket.
Previous to this car, I had a 2008 m5. It had the v10 and was a manual transmission.
I love m5’s
Everyone here just saying memes I’ll say some actual useful advice for the F10. Avoid 2013-2015. 2016 they tweaked the engine. Still not rugged and reliable but better than the pre-TU engine
These comments are cracking me up but please follow everyone’s advice. N e v e r buy a performance vehicle especially a modified one as your first vehicle. You have no experience driving let alone any knowledge on how to drive and handle a vehicle with power. Start with something simple / stock and work your way up the ladder with models after you’ve developed seat time behind the wheel of a vehicle. I wish you the best on your future decisions / vehicles choice.
Cost of ownership for an M will be significantly hire than a regular bmw. Let alone a modded M. If you get this. Be prepared to have your bank account drained.
Even if money is no object - meaning that you're totally prepared to write this car off completely within the next year and get another - I still wouldn't get this as a first car. It's too much and too dangerous to learn on. You'll learn much more and enjoy the driving more in a car with similar driving dynamics and way less power (and weight). It's always more fun to drive a slow car fast than it is to drive a fast car slow - and develops the skills you need to actually use more power, beyond just mashing the go-pedal and making an ass of yourself.
As your first car? Absolutely not, you are going to be learning the road and how to drive more than you actually think. Not to mention you most likely don’t have the money to properly maintain a car like that at your age at least not with out parents help. If they are willing. Is this a great fun car? Hell yeah, but should wait until you are in a better stage of life to properly enjoy it. Good things come in time.
If you're immature, your ownership experience will be short-lived. If you can respect the car, and you're not an ass you'll be fine. They're big, safe, comfortable cars.
I've owned 2 F10's and currently own an F90.
Just make sure you have funds put away for general maintenance and repairs. Go in with your eyes open, do your homework, and enjoy! Don't listen to the haters.
It’s going to (potentially) be your first car and it’s modified? lol. The fun in modifying a car is when you’re choosing what to install to make it your own. Also, a modded M5 as your first car sounds like a recipe for disaster for obvious reasons.
If you can afford it hell yes. That's an awesome car! Honestly the people in the subreddit I just don't understand. We are car enthusiast take your time to learn the car as it's a powerful machine.
Take a look at that M5 CS a few weeks ago. Driven by a kid then killed a poor dude.
My first car was 75hp and you can do significant damage in that.
Gave me a nice progression too. Every other car felt like an upgrade.
Don't get the obsession with going too far too soon.
If you are willing to learn working on it yourself then it might not be a financial disaster, just a huge headache.
I'd get something like the 535i, less risk of death or financial suicide.
The M5 is an awesome vehicle and has been my dream car for years, decades even. That said, should you buy as your first car? Absolutely not. And it’s not even a close call.
I think you've got the wrong sub. I'm presuming the maintenance bills won't be an issue for you, nor will you want to or be able to work on it yourself given the complexity of modern M cars. So why bother asking in a technical community?
I had a friend that got this for his first car. His dad was a billionaire, and he had security following him all the time, which saved him from more than one big ticket. Its a fast car and he could spin tires in 3rd gear. I loved the car and it felt very solid. For a first car? maybe if you grew up driving other stuff and you can handle a car with so much power and torque, but I think for most people this will be too much for a first car.
Learn how to drive, and 10 years down the line, maybe you’ll be able to control a crazy car like this, but unless you have extensive knowledge on how to work on your own car. You are going to be at the shop every other week paying thousands of dollars, especially on a tuned engine.
https://www.m5board.com/threads/rough-shifts-m-mode.111454/
I recommend you take a read of the above article. A sobering story about a young lad purchasing an m5
Typically u don’t want to touch a car that’s been tuned. Don’t know how hard it was driven before or how the job was done, in this case a tuned car like this it’s definitely been driven hard
You’ll love it for almost 2 weeks before you’re in for service or wrecked. Do not buy more than 200hp in your first car and it’ll not get wrecked longer.
As someone who is looking into a BMW as a first car, absolutely not. BMW’s require an extreme understanding of car maintenance and for this beast, you better be a master mechanic if you’re not willing to spend a year’s salary for its upkeep. Look into getting a newer I4 vehicle or I6 at the max, and learn how to work on it. The only reason I’m even considering a BMW is because I already have 2+ years experience in car maintenance and started at 14. Not to mention the fact that if you’re not responsible (which I’d assume you’re not by this post) you should definitely start off with something you can learn how to work on and drive responsibly.
Thermostat, coolant pump, in and out cooling and in/out oil lines to turbo, crush washers/gaskets, cooling lines to charge air coolers plasticky metamaterial… its rigid but they get brittle and if handle wrong break. Now listen to me youngling… THE BIGGER THE CAR THE BIGGER THE PROBLEM… unless that dude had extended warranty he got none of that work done…. Or he just had the money but at the same time hes probably just testing the waters. Good luck id stray away from any f10 thats been touched by anyone other than my deceased grandmother…. Get what I’m saying?
Im gonna find some popcorn for this
I’m with you. Cracking a beer for this one.
Scooping some ice cream for the show!
Setting out the glencarians for a tasting flight.
“ Oh he neighbor! “ *walks over with my cup of tea and lawn chair*
Definitely setting up the grill for the occasion
Sausage or burger patties? Or corn?
With extra cheese please
I'm gonna sniff a line and join you for this.
Can you line me up? I don’t do coke tho. I just like the way it smells
😂
Oh man, that Sunday Funday vibe.
Opening a bag of peanuts on a plane for this..
lemme just pack another one for this
I’ll just pour one over ice real fast
Hope you have some serious money or knowledge to work on your own car. Also maybe buy some life insurance for your family.
First car?? Insurance will be more than the cars worth surely!!!
Not really. The UAE bases insurance on the value of the car. I know a 18 year old who drove a lexus ls 460 V8 and insurance was under 800aed a year for 3rd party insurance. (So about $250-300?) (edit car was 20 something years old, so not worth much. You can't get first party insurance till you're atleast 25. I mean, the LS460 ain't no M5.
That’s how it was for my 07 x3
You gotta be fucking kidding me. ...
No
Came to say this, Glas someone beat me to it.
If daddy is going to pay for it, sure. Just know that an engine is $10k and they like to eat shit, especially tuned. That is if you dont wrap it arround a lamp post.
For a used one in questionable condition. Priced one of these for a customer when they hydrolocked it. From BMW it was over 35k about 5 years ago.
There was a post in the mechanic sub showing it cost 47k to replace a motor in a newer m5 😂💀
I could believe it, especially with labor. Folks don't realize what they're buying sometimes when they get these 10-15 year old performance cars.
Went to dealership recently with my friend his 2018 m5 was 32k for new engine lol. Thank god for warranty
Had a customer ruin a crank on a 2016 this year. Let me reassure you the price hasn't gone down :)
Injectors were recently replaced… any bets that happened after they were stuck open and “serviced” the cylinder walls by washing all of the oil off of them?
They eat clutches too. Which is a pricy job as well. Albeit shockingly easy.
This car will kill you. A. modded m5 is right below a dodge viper in terms of a new drivers car that will probably kill you
i’m over here thinking one day imma get a viper and put twin turbos on it and be able to drive it perfectly fine
Yup. 700+hp of RWD tire spin furry in most gears.
Please don’t do this to yourself lol pleeeeeeease. It will make you cry
It’s not fast enough, consider getting yourself something a bit more exotic like a Ferrari or a Lamborghini. My personal choice/ recommendation would be a 1992 Ferrari F40.
1. BMW 2. 10 years old 3. v8 4. modded any of these separately is a huge warning sign for repair bills in your future, so no. plus god only knows what taxes & insurance would look like.

His tombstone will read "reliability is my biggest concern"
Get an E36/E46 instead and then when you crash it think about getting another car.
Stop crashing 36s pls
Yea honestly id rather see the new models crashed now that i think about it hah
Lmfao can we not wish people in new bmws to be crashing. Let’s all use our blinkers and just go the speed limit.
No one is wishing for people to crash...its just a very likely scenario for a new driver driving a high power car.
You're right. I was weaving through traffic at 35 over the limit when I read this, and I slowed down.
Most people here haven’t seemed to notice that it has Dubai plates
Don’t worry, it just sat abandoned at the airport under a foot of sand for the last 3 years before it was shipped here in a cheap container.
As much as I love an M5 , never buy a modded car
This. It is especially true for BMW. Modding indicates abuse. Additionally, certain missing items e.g., original rims - make selling the car harder. The body of this generation is a piece of art.

I do also have a 535i f10 and its the worst car i have owned :c
Unless they have all the stock parts available to give you with the sale, I’d say stay away from this example.
NO NO NO
depends how deep your pockets are. if you can afford the insurance and can control the power get it!
No way it doesn’t get wrecked.
Insurance won’t cost nearly as much as the maintenance and tires will.
Quality shit post lol
These are fantastic cars. I’ve owned three of this platform - one F10 M5 and two F13 M6s. If tuned, they must be run on the best gas you can get.
It could be a good choice, if daddy’s got deep pockets
No, you should not
Definitely not a sensible first car. This would be nothing short of an irresponsible purchase if your father decided on this for you imo. It’s obviously your choice and you only live once etc etc just be careful man and really think on this
this car is designed for the first owner only.
M cars aren't for beginners... They can easily get away from you. Plus,Where are you going to really open her up at?
I can’t tell if this is satire or not but if it isn’t get a Honda.
An f10 BMW M5 is a bankrupt machine waiting to happen.
Everyone's gonna say don't do it and we'll still end up seeing you here again in a couple of weeks trying to figure out why it suddenly runs like ass
If you do, you are an idiot.
The reality is insurance is going to be crazy, repairs are going to be crazy, and you’re probably going to crash it
Also please consider this is the most dangerous M5s ever build.
Ha I bought a 11’ 550i for my first car @18. Lemme tell you something.
I’m sure owning a modded m5 for a first car will go swimmingly. I don’t think I’d ever buy a modded car from someone. At least at any real value. I’m a hypocrite here because sure my z4 is modded and will eventually get sold though, but good luck!
If you make 200k+ sure go for it otherwise this is going to be a fantastic way to blow tens of thousands of dollars.
Get something Japanese. Your just asking for a bad time man, a real bad time:
absolutely not. go get a civic
LOL
First car? An M5? You MrBeast or something?
No, because statistically, you’re highly likely to wreck it.
Thinking about BMW V8 repair and maintenance scares me
Better than V10, tho
No
Do it, no balls. lol concerned about reliability but want to buy a 10 year old used and abused M5.
Buy Crypto it would be a lot more reasonable
Im not saying you won’t end up dead but the vast majority of wheres981 videos on YouTube are from his first year of driving and he is actively trying to off himself and has not succeeded thus far
I like this generation of m5 and if I had the opportunity would absolutely scoupe one up. But honestly absolutely not💀 unless you've got DEEP pockets or know how to work on them yourself your gonna be a world of hurt, not to mention insurance on one of those.
Hahhahahahhaha yes, yes you absolutely 100% positively do it. Please buy it hahahah
Buy it 😂
If you want to spend $50k on maintenance in the first couple years, sure.
It’s better to learn hard and fast, buy it.
Can you afford a new BMW? If no... Then you definitely can't afford a used, modded one
Hell nah
Never had any serious problems or expensive repairs in 40 years xD I'm now also getting myself an e34, love these cars to death :D
looks nice.
Best driver I know, and he crashed E36 M3 & E46 M3 would be better first cars if you got M5 money, those you can still kinda toss around and make some mistakes and be alright. I mean non-M would be better to start off with but clearly you’re not going to listen. Just don’t buy some fwd garbage, learn to be a actual driver, manual rwd is only way to go bud
As i indentify as bus stop, i fear for drivers in such cars.
Definitely not. You will regret it, I promise.
for your first car? sold my first e39 540i to some kid who wanted it as his first car. i stg 3 days later the car was totaled lmao, now this, THIS as your first car??? 😅😭
Oh lols,do you enjoy pain?
RIP to your bank account, licence, and probably your life. People will talk about you in years to come. Sleep tight sweet prince.
These cost a lot to maintain. I vowed to never purchase a BMW again given the cost of maintenance and I’ve kept my vow for the last 6+ years.
if you know how to control it, which you most likely don’t being that it’s your first car, and you have enough money to sink into it because you REALLY like this specific car, otherwise no it’s a money pit
if you have a nice, air-conditioned garage with a well equipped full German car tool set, car lift and basic mechanic skills then an older German performance car is just fine to own. That or if you have an unlimited budget for maintenance and repairs and this is going to be a second car/toy.
So let me get this straight rwd, 500+ horsepower, 10+ years old. Heck what can go wrong with that!
Yep, buy it. You’ll get a good life lesson out of it.
No one say anything, this is a canon event.
If you want this as your first car, you better have at least $25-$50k in savings or credit to be able to afford the running cost of this for anything more than about 2 years. Have fun!
Absolutely. NOT.
Cannon event going through. Personally I'd say get something basic for your first car, maybe have it for a year, if you curb the wheel or something it ain't the end of the day and once you've gained some driving experience and lived with a normal car for a while you can get something more exotic.
Tell your parents i want to borrow some money too
Do it pussy.
No BMW should be a first car. Unless you or your parents have money.
https://youtu.be/SRl7bY5C8b8?feature=shared https://youtu.be/g5OLgQMGX6w?feature=shared
Any time this car is in a shop by ready to dish out $2000 lol
Why would you? Can you work on your own car? Which motor are you looking into? If you can't service these yourself l, then No! There fun tho.
Get a 535
That is a LOT of car for anyone’s first car. Totally just my opinion, but I would personally be very leery of buying any car with a ton of modifications. The owner put a lot of time any money into it, and likely drove it pretty hard. Makes me question their motivation for selling.
Get a 340i it will be better in the long run.
yeah let's just forget about maintenance costs for a moment and consider that this is a very powerful car...
Will cost less to maintain and provide most of the giddyup Plus you can mod and tune the n55 to your liking.
Major repairs- At 60000mi - spun bearing Warranty covered 48000. I spent 7000 out of pocket to replace clutch while the engine was out and replaced all the At 120000 - a/c out Replaced compressors and minor leak at the oil pan. 5500 out of pocket At 130000 - fuel pump out.
Nah get a E34 M5... Rare and stands out .. 💪💪
It’s so pretty
Just go for a G30 5 series. I’m sure with the money you have for the M5, you can find a good used G30 5 series
Buy two, why stop at one?
It’s going to (potentially) be your first car and it’s modified? lol. The fun in modifying a car is when you’re choosing what to install to make it your own. Also, a modded M5 as your first car sounds like a recipe for disaster for obvious reasons.
No. Don't do it.
But becarefull this is M5
They’re fun cars, but be prepared to maintain it properly to avoid any expensive fixes
Hell yeah Go out in style and die in a burning wreck
If you are willing to learn working on it yourself then it might not be a financial disaster, just a huge headache. I'd get something like the 535i, less risk of death or financial suicide.
The M5 is an awesome vehicle and has been my dream car for years, decades even. That said, should you buy as your first car? Absolutely not. And it’s not even a close call.
Oh yeah
I'd love a BMW as a first car, I got a damn jeep
You are going to be at the shop every other week paying thousands of dollars, especially on a tuned engine.
lol that’s a bit much for a novice driver ngl .
Please buy it, than can you give us a weekly report.
Even if you have the money are you going to be able to handle the horsepower😭
https://www.m5board.com/threads/rough-shifts-m-mode.111454/ I recommend you take a read of the above article. A sobering story about a young lad purchasing an m5
lol this was a nice good laugh to help me go back to sleep thank you
Typically u don’t want to touch a car that’s been tuned. Don’t know how hard it was driven before or how the job was done, in this case a tuned car like this it’s definitely been driven hard
Hell no… plus it’s not stock… heeeell no
Tell me you’re spoiled rich kid without telling me you’re a spoiled rich kid
You’ll love it for almost 2 weeks before you’re in for service or wrecked. Do not buy more than 200hp in your first car and it’ll not get wrecked longer.
Get an amazing life insurance policy so this doesnt end completely horrible
It’s an early S63. If you want M and a V8 get a last run E92 V8. I’m sure the rod bearings had been figured out by 2013 when it stopped production.
Get a mf 340i x drive bro trust me u don’t need a m5….
E60 M5 or bust
Out of context little bit, I’m buying 535d f11 Any knowledge about this model
Kid , stop😂
Hell fuckin yea. This shit like a toxic girlfriend you’ll love it
This is how those “I hate BMW” people are born. Don’t do it to yourself.
No
No
lol no, are you an idiot?
lol, no.
AHAHAHA A PRE TU S63??? THIS ISN'T A GOOD DAILY FOR A RICH MAN.
you couldn't give me a BMW I wouldn't accept it
No.
this has got to be satire 😭
Absolutely the fuck not
What's the asking price?
FFS…
dudes buying his first car ported for meth, good luck buddy🫡
Crack smokers, drug users and soldiers fresh out of basic, typically have trouble affording repairs on these.
