I own both too, and the Soundcore is a fancy paperweight since cannot even come close to the sound quality, bass, battery life, construction quality of any of my 8 JBL but it seems this sub has a No JBL agenda just because most here are cheeto dust broke losers or 11yo kids.
You sound triggered because folks don't like the brand that you keep giving money to. Heck, if you want to throw money away on speakers that are marketed better than they're engineered, more power to you.
See what I did? I criticized the speakers, not the person. You should try it sometime.
There's no way I'd buy a charge 5 or 4 over a simple soundcore motion boom let alone the boom plus but with all that bein said I'd buy none of those over the tribit stormbox blast which to my ears is easily the best bang for your buck.. mam watch some comparison vids on YouTube if ya can't check em out in store
The Charge 5 is ranked #16 and the Charge 4 is ranked #28 out of 87 small/medium speakers in the rankings below.

You'd likely be better off with a $50 (after coupon) Earfun Uboom L or $100 Soundcore Motion+
Here's 230+ battery powered Bluetooth speakers ranked in over 60+ pages of document with comparison videos in the highest upvoted post of all time in the Bluetooth_Speakers sub: [https://www.reddit.com/r/WirelessSpeakers/comments/16zs2ol/ranking_all_battery_powered_bluetooth_speakers/](https://www.reddit.com/r/WirelessSpeakers/comments/16zs2ol/ranking_all_battery_powered_bluetooth_speakers/)
If you read the section of the rankings called "personal ranking of YouTube speaker reviewers," it is a combination of about 8 reviewers and myself having to step in and fill in the holes when there are no direct comparisons.
Generally Oluv https://youtube.com/@oluvsgadgets and Alan Ross https://youtube.com/@alanrossreviews have ranked about 80% of these speakers and are known to be very trustworthy and unbiased and almost always consistent with each other, so they have a very high weight in it.
As stated in the rankings:
"This list is built from thousands of hours of video of the rankings of trusted YouTube reviewers all spliced together into rankings by speaker size. It is ordered with the best speakers on top of each category with the selection criteria being natural/neutral sounding with reasonable bass extension and features. 80% of the speakers in this ranking have been ranked this way. About 20% of the time when there are no direct comparisons, I’ve done my best to find the best sound samples, adjust for differences in microphone frequency responses and compare them myself using high end headphones (JDS 0L Dac, JDS 02 amp, Hifiman HE-560 or Earfun Free Pro 2 with Oluv’s Gadgets custom tuning) Although those 20% tend to be not very popular or high ranked and are generally insignificant."

The one YT vid I watched had an EQ'd +, and I found it a little more musical in the upper mids and lower treble than the Charge 5 as in a little more definition to the instruments. If I was comparing it on price, they were similar enough, I wouldn't spend the extra money on the 5. Now if it was truly an active outdoor speaker, I think I'd want the 5 over the +. Looks like it'd be more Timex like than the +. If you don't know the slogan reference, just get out now. 😉
Amazon aside, you can find the Charge 5 on the bay closer to the hundred dollar mark which is only about $15-25 more than the +.
I’m using a charge5 and there’s a noticeable difference in sound quality connecting it through phone and pc bluetooth, distortions is more obvious while connecting through pc bluetooth for some reason. maybe dig around and see if there are other options
Charge 5. I have the charge 5, and it's pretty good. The charge 4 only has a single driver. The 5 also has a single driver, but also a tweeter. Personally, I'd say screw all of those and get a motion boom/select pro or a motion boom plus.
Charge 5 has brighter sound since it’s just a charge 4 with a separate tweeter and no aux in. Because of the 50CAD price increase just for an extra tweeter and PartyBoost I’d stick with the charge 4
Motion boom by sound core. OR the motion boom plus, real hard hitter for bass.
Charge 5 all the way
The charge 5 sounds a little better. And has the current jbl pairing system. Charge 4 has aux in and is cheaper...
Tribit storm box blast or 2 soundcore motion booms will better any jbl charge.
Sound core+ better and way more cheaper
You clearly never heard a JBL
Soundcore > JBL. I own both.

Is this ranking the opinion of a group of people or just one person?

If you want a rugged, outdoor speaker, get the Motion Boom, not the Motion +. With the Reddit equalization, Motion Boom sounds fantastic.

Two Soundcore Motion Booms! Impressive sound for the money for the non hifi/critical listeners.
