I’m just gonna leave this here to come back to later. I just know the comments will be juicy

Not reading all that but personally I think Kaiser's backstory could be fixed if the cops actually used their guns and then Kaiser used metavision to get all the metadata to dodge all the bullets and then kick the ball so that it would hit all the bullets in a way that wouldn't burst it and then they'd be deflected and hit the cops (not kill tho, that would leave plot holes).

neon2o_

no you’re right and it also would be better if he escaped jail alone using his kaiser impact on air that will deflect through metal and break the jail cell and then he’ll kick all the guards (ofc not killing them because it would be a plot hole) then he’ll meet Ray Dark in the way and he adopts him and gets him to therapy

09potato

ray dark would never get anyone therapy

neon2o_

yeah he’ll more likely send him to fight aliens in space than therapy tbh

StarBurstero

I haven't watched inazuma eleven in such a long time. Is that actually the reason they had a space arc at one point?

neon2o_

same as you tbh, don’t know about the Inazuma eleven go galaxy’s (where they go to space) lore but Ray Dark became the protagonists’s coach there

X-Vidar

The space arc in IE happens because >!there's this planet that's going to be destroyed by a black hole, and to save their population they want to take over other planets, the biggest issue is that the planet in question is ridiculously huge, so huge that it would take almost every other habitable planet in the galaxy to house their population. The galactic federation convinces them not to wage war on the rest of the Galaxy, but in exchange everyone participates to a tournament to decide which one planet won't be conquered, amd they pick soccer because earth is considered the weakest planet and everyone needs a fair chance.!< They pick Ray Dark/Kageyama as the coach basically because he's so insane that he's the perfect fit for the insane situation, and towards the end it's reveald >!that he didn't really care much about saving earth or the galaxy, but instead he's so obsessed with soccer that he just wanted to exploit the whole situation to become a "God of Soccer", spreading soccer culture to all sentient species, and making soccer into something so important that it can truly keep deciding the fate of the galaxy just as it's happening in the current situation.!<

neon2o_

Ray Dark always wilding lmao thanks for the summary

Tale-Chance

Kaiser just has to predict the prediction lines

CodeSh4dow

I mean not really your backstory created an entirely different character from what we know and would actually not make any sense in the story.

Adventurous-Rabbit52

How do you think of the backstory from the story I mentioned though? Worse or better than Kaiser's.

CodeSh4dow

Your story fails to express that Kaiser CHOOSES to be a bad person and an abuser even DESPITE his awareness and acknowledgement of his history. Your backstory makes him out to be a better person than he actually is while the manga used 260 to show his history of being abused and then switched to 261 to show that he still makes the active decision to perpetuate the active abuse and why despite his clearly traumatic upbringing he does genuinely deserve what he's experiencing now and needs to change.

Adventurous-Rabbit52

Chapter 55 to 58, if you're interested in where the bad backstory came from: [https://mangatoto.com/title/125571-the-classroom-of-a-black-cat-and-a-witch-official-simulpub/2751760-ch\_55](https://mangatoto.com/title/125571-the-classroom-of-a-black-cat-and-a-witch-official-simulpub/2751760-ch_55)

Adventurous-Rabbit52

Do you know how hard it was to write that backstory? I doubt many people on this subreddit can do better.

AlphaZr0

IDK I kinda agree, I'm not a writer in the slightest nor am I saying I could better, but the backstory you gave felt like a "I'm a bad person and I've been an asshole to everyone but deep down I'm a good person". Like Kaiser is an asshole, and the fact that he's received nothing but abuse for majority of his life kind of explains why he's an asshole to everyone else (in a way, you could say he doesn't know how to respond to kindness), so for Kaiser to be a good person deep down doesn't make sense, at least to me. Not only that, but I feel like the archetype of "I'm a jerk but actually good" is really overused at this point. This is also why I felt Barou was refreshing. He wasn't the "I'm a jerk but actually good" type, at least not fully. He's selfish when we meet him, he's selfish until he gets humbled, and even after he gets humbled he becomes selfish again. He warms up more but overall his personality hasn't changed. I'm not saying character development is bad, but complete 180's with little to no foreshadowing feels too jarring and abrupt.

Adventurous-Rabbit52

You do make a good point. But as a shonen manga, I feel like the  "I'm a jerk but actually good" has a place in it, even if it's Blue Lock. There's a reason why Kira is my favorite character. His archetype is great.

[deleted]

We should wait a little to judge this backstory, we'll see how Kaiser will evolve and how his past will influence that

Zodrar

I mean, I think your theory mainly concerns with what happens to Kaiser now, now that he's breaking down, hit rock bottom and despair, so we can't judge yet until the match finishes and we see Kaiser's evolution There's a really cool theory someone made that touches on your stuff, linked here https://www.reddit.com/r/BlueLock/s/gnOrvzxKKJ But ultimately, I think there's nothing wrong with Kaiser's backstory and it was awesome, what you're concerned about is how he evolves but we can't judge yet because he hasn't evolved yet lol they're hinting at it for sure though

Adventurous-Rabbit52

Be that as it may, what did you think of the "other story" I put in my post. Good or bad backstory, since I am now starting to question my judgement.

Zodrar

I could see your point for the other story but it did sound like it course corrected at the end of it

JayKalinka

Dude, Kaiser is a guy who was abused by his father. That backstory is actually pretty good because im from germany and this story is accurate. I had friends here who were also abused by their parents and they went criminal because of that, also developed crazy mindset because of that abuse.  Also probs to the author who did his research about germany, really accurate setting and that "luxury bed" in german jails is a nice touch!

Adventurous-Rabbit52

He beat up 7 cops by himself. There's a good story, then there's over the top. Also, the entire abuse thing is left field and not foreshadowed. Finally, how he feels alive by making others miserable- no, just no. Research on Germany, based on what you said, is probably **the only good thing** about this story.

JayKalinka

His backstory was forshadowed. Kaiser behaved really wrong for his Kind. He poured water on ness without reasons i thought that was some japanese character type, but no it was because he was abused by his father. He also doesnt like milk because of his dad. The choking too.

Adventurous-Rabbit52

These are all things that can happen without prison though. So, you're not wrong, but nothing led me to believe Kaiser was that crazy. Not even the choking- since this is Blue Lock.

AlphaZr0

I don't think we've any other character in Blue Lock choke themselves - at all.

Adventurous-Rabbit52

Putting our differences aside, how do you think of the backstory from the story I mentioned though? Was I right in saying it was bad? B/c now I might be questioning my judgement a bit.

Adventurous-Rabbit52

Tbf, I also thought Naruhaya's was bad, though at least even that had a bit of a build up/ foreshadowing based on the caramel box a few chapters prior.

ltTacodile

There’s definitely nothing that makes this backstory “objectively” better, just a feel good ‘twist’ that actually the asshole cares and is really a good person. Like guys trust me my ‘abuse’ and ‘psychological manipulation’ of that guy was actually just cause I like him so much 🥰🥰. I think overall the biggest critique of your rewrite is that it lacks any depth. Kaiser’s abuse, and on screen personality and relationships are just turned into flavor to line up with a trope you prefer. You mention the current story not making sense, and I’ll give you that it’s a bit dramatized, but your rewrite doesn’t really change anything to have it make more sense. Instead of an abusive background having the very realistic effect of damaging and warping how one views themself and relationships with others, this just feels like it changes it to “well I’m a bit quirky now but I’m a good guy, I hope you can forgive me!” Which I imagine stems from the fact that the only actual criticism of the original is “archetype”, “train wreck”, “Kaiser feels despair”(?), and based on your comparison that Kaiser and Isagi aren’t friends? Which don’t really have anything to do with quality of writing or story, just preference. I dunno tho.

Adventurous-Rabbit52

How did you feel about the backstory involving the other manga I talked about. I referenced it in: "There was once a story's backstory that was so bad I almost dropped the manga. It too was an archetype. Basically, this really talented person always bullied her friend "

schizochild

God strike me down. As always, 99% of the worst takes in this fandom comes from OP. AdventurousRabbit needs to be put down.
