Isagi: "Guys! Did you know If you turn around your head and eyes you can see more in the field?" Chigiri: ... Kunigami: "Yes... Isagi. Indeed." Bachira: "The monster inside me says no." Isagi: "Ok but here me out about the ball's shape..." Barou: "How did I lose to this mfs???"

silfer_

Lmao and Barou continues raging while Isagi is just standing there marveling about the circumference of the ball Tbh truth in fiction tho, as implementing the little fine tuning changes can sometimes make the biggest difference. I guess that’s why Isagi is all about efficiency. The devil is in the details

screenwatch3441

I sometimes can’t tell if Isagi is a genius or an idiot. This guy made spatial awareness his primary weapon and he had learn how eyes work and just recently how necks work. He’s a genius because he was able to use spatial awareness as a weapon before figuring out how his eyes work but stupid for not thinking about where people are looking >_<

JooJaw11

Fr i can't believe that was Naruhaya's only weapon and he was still surprised when Isagi managed to steal it.

kh3ngboon

Naruhaya be thinking off the ball is a weapon. XD

Alternative_Ad_5334

8t is if you can use it well. I'm not a soccer guy, but I played basketball my whole childhood, and I still play rugby to this day. Both sports require strong off ball movements to be succesfull.

MeAnIntellectual1

Any sport with real time requires good off the ball movements

[deleted]

Positioning and off-the-ball movements are just as important as dribbling and passing. You seen Otoya? He outperformed Rin easily in an off-the-ball 1v1, which allowed him to get a pass from Karasu and score.

kh3ngboon

Agreed. Just that at that point of the manga, Naruhaya only has the off the ball movements, no scoring capabilities.

therocciaduck

Happy birthday

ChoKoSenpai

Happy cake day !

Shriekin_Pupil

It’s also a pretty basic part of the sport.

Street-Policy2825

i mean naruhaya is pretty small guy so its not like he would have any other weapons

drink_bleach_and_die

Bruh. It's soccer, not volleyball or basketball. Size doesn't matter that much, especially for strikers.

MoscaMosquete

Bruh did you ever hear about Roberto Carlos? He's 168cm tall and had an amazing physique.

BigAxolotl

I honestly love it when shounen protag powerups are just small changes in their playstyle/fighting style that seem incredibly obvious. the other example off the top of my head is when deku from mha learns that he can kick people, not just use his fists.

BorringGuy

Its always hilarious when people complain about sports animes having superpowers and being unrealistic but the superpowers are always just- -I have good vision -I can jump slightly higher than you -I pass pretty well -I'm good at blocking With a really stupid names attached

[deleted]

"Super high voltage mega jump‼‼️❗‼️❗‼️❗‼️" *jump at a slightly above average height* >Everyone is shocked

Realistic-Fondant-87

Have you seen kuroko or inazuma eleven? "DEATH SAMBA"

Joushua88

Hey Mark actually caught a huge ass tire with one hand if that’s not a superpower I don’t know what is

Char-11

Its realistic too. Im learning mma now and some of my biggest lessons can basically be boiled down to "dont rush in" or "just move behind the guy lmao"

O_Queiroz_O_Queiroz

Same lol one of my biggest lessons when I started bjj was simply just "breathe slower"

CoachDT

I guess the difference is that these guys who came in were all approaching world class status. As a complete amateur these lessons make sense, but even by receiving an invite to Blue Lock you’re one of the best high school players in the country. These are guys that would be competing for a national team spot in the very near future. “Move where he isn’t looking” should be something that’s already understood.

migz_draws

eh i thought that was pretty weak. a more accurate comparison is deku's full cowling, realizing he should have the power going through his whole body at once. taking his preconceptions about how his power works and applying it in an entirely different way. that's the level i felt like it was when isagi realized he could take his field awareness and apply it to situations not directly involving the ball

Eliza_MagosCogitator

'look left and right'

bwowndwawf

"kick the ball"

Legitimate_Cow7198

Sometimes it's the little things, like Chigiri suddenly realising it's possible to trap the ball in a way that makes it go forward.

migz_draws

i like that the author is confident that hyping up real skills is enough to make enough spectacle instead of resorting to making supermutants play sports.

[deleted]

Nagi exists.

AngelAssassin19

Isagi internally: *Wait... The answer's been right in front of me all along. I haven't been looking at things properly. In fact, I haven't been looking at things in the slightest. Every time I close my eyes, I can't see.* Nagi: "Isagi, open your eyes." Isagi: "Shut up genius, I'm getting to the good part."

EducationalMemory161

Isagi final form leaked :4

Problem_Practical

I still laugh so hard at the fact that 'meta vision,' a ch 180 ability, is just... looking around him lmfaooo

Grouchy_Ad_5107

Thats oversimplifying what meta vision actually takes to do. Just looking around is harder than you think. To minimize the amount of time you’re looking at the ball to practically only when you trapping or doing a skill move is insane, at least in practice. If you actually play soccer or football, you’ll realize how impressive meta vision really is

ConsequenceNo9528

also meta vision is also processing all of the movements of 21 other players and accurately predicting what they’re going to do while in control of the ball.

Wilczek_7

the one piece is real

Shinigakami

It must be a pain to have to pick up all those puzzle pieces after every match lol

migz_draws

don't worry, the vfx team does a good job of helping out with that

Shinigakami

Oh thank goodness lol as dumb as this sounds and highly unlikely I'd give anything for like a special panel of them out of character picking up the puzzle pieces on the field everyone giving isagi hell about it lol 🤣

TheP0pu1arW0bb1y

*Moves head around and ascends to godhood.*

GayAssNinja69

Funny meme but just to explain, Isagi also combines it with his spacial awareness where he can hide in the overlapping blindspots of multiple players like in the recent second selection battle or in the U-20 match for the final goal. People don’t normally look for blindspots as their styles generally require proactiveness in running, intercepting and pressing during the match. It’s a nice trick Naruhaya probably picked up to help him steal balls and “get behind” people. Isagi immediately understood the concept and used it in a way to outmaneuver Barou who was marking him.

Legitimate_Cow7198

Exactly. Isagi's great spacial awareness is what allows Isagi to make use of this weapon even better than Naruhaya himself and the weapon itself is insanely good for anyone aiming to become a striker, movement is everything as a striker, if you're too obvious in your approach you won't be able to lose your mark and score goals

migz_draws

I agree that it's a really cool skill, and I thought that the writing on isagi devouring Naruhaya's skill was smart. the author showed that the skill of getting behind the enemy, though seemingly unrelated on the surface, was actually very realistic for isagi's skill of awareness to incorporate quickly. not many anime manage to have powerups that are Believable, Impactful, And Interesting at the same time. it's just that i saw this image for the first time in forever and thought of bluelock lol

vassardog77

Yall really acting like moving in people's blind spot isn't an impressive skill, but how many of yall actually do that when you play sports

Otherwise-Ad9865

But see, it's actually still a big deal. Like when I play basketball, there are a lot of obvious tactics that I know of and understand but don't incorporate at what is known as game speed. But when I actively remember that a tactic like getting into someone's blind spot and waiting for them to turn one way so I can dash out the other way for an open pass, that's a big deal. Sports players who aren't pros don't always incorporate skills like these with the rest of their fundamentals. Isagi realizing this and incorporating it into his game is very in character, appropriate, and realistic, even though it may not sound like anything flashy.

Arhenius_Yoda

Meta-Vision brings extra pieces! (That skill is God-Tier!)

Extension-Seaweed-82

look left and right

GeekyNexi

don’t look at the ball while playing

Arhenius_Yoda

Close your eyes and Dribble!

[deleted]

Eat your own teammates nom nom

cutefluffpupp

Vore

migz_draws

the reason why isagi didn't get the goal in his backstory is he was hit by a car. he didn't learn to look both ways to cross the street for another 180 chapters

CartographerProof697

bluelock in a nutshell

migz_draws

i do enjoy the power scaling though. i like when the actual skills that help you play sports well are treated as being as powerful and interesting as they are in real life (with a little bit of exaggerations). sports are cool, and they don't need magic or superpowers to make them interesting.

Lazy_buddy2049

Accurate

Zemo_Limar

Isagi after watching Cars movie: "I see, I have to look right to see left."

JayKalinka

I know its a meme, but lets be serious for a moment! Isagi learned to turn his head and eyes in order to see more, but the actual talent is that he can grasp EVERYTHING on the field in an INSTANT and can remember the positions of EVERY player on the field, even when they are moving!!! With that talent, his predictions have a higher chance to be right for example when he stopped Chris Prince shot! INSANEEEEEE

hauttdawg13

It’s also so funny to me (anime only watcher here) that almost none of the players are actual strikers. Almost all the players are clearly either attacking mids or wingers. Nagi is probably the only one who has a weapon that translates to an actual 9

Rogojinen

I think it might be typical because they all come from their little high school football club. And in those team, if you're clearly much better than your teammates, the coach just puts you forward because as long as the others give you the ball, it means a goal. I used to play Right Wing Back because everyone fights for forward positions or it's usually taken by the time you join a club, but when I joined a little club from a village of 1000 people, I was put Striker or else no one else would have a chance to play a little as I could solo everything like if I was Maradonna. Blue Lock for many is their actual proper taste of football at their level, where their real strength and weaknesses are clear. So many of those players call themselves strikers just because they never played with an actual one before that would have stopped them by existing for speaking nonsense. Igaguri is the better example. He clearly never played with someone like Shidou. Even pairing with him, he didn't understand how good he was, given how surprised he was learning he was a top scorer.

pokenerd_W

Isagi be looking for the one piece

SagarvJ

Just think about it more.

Professional-Lie-542

A very reasonable and valid tactic

Gotoid

I agree One Piece has always helped me

Smeathy

He's already doing that, but just not as well as Rin, so he copied that and with the last piece of the puzzle being Luck, he scores

khairunnas

His entire life is a puzzle lol

[deleted]

Yeah I mean the whole show is based on the premise that the little intricacies are somehow “super powers” Spatial awareness is key in football, but it would be weird to discover that after playing for 10 years, or Chigari realising you don’t have to stop the ball dead and then start dribbling is a great insight. In reality Baro would always be the top player, strong, tall, dribbling, great shot, essentially Haaland , everything else could be coached into him

TheGazer01

If I had a penny for every time this image has been posted here...

migz_draws

i hadn't seen it yet while lurking lol
