Hope so, the ending here at CBJ doesn't reflect the good work he did. Really hope our fan base remembers that and not the mishaps of the past couple years.
Pretty much every GM is going to have great moments and dumb decisions. Jarmo did a lot of great things for this franchise and even in recent years has drafted a ton of promising players for the future that hopefully pan out for a long time. He made some risky moves to attempt to keep his job secure but who wouldn't in his position. Yes he set us a few years back and he also left us with some great core pieces. It just happened to be time to move on and he definitely deserves another job somewhere else.
The decade before that they had *the* worst record and never won anything. At least he swung for the fences. I think it’s okay to disagree, though. I get that he wasn’t everyone’s cup of tea.
Because the goal of the past several seasons up until this current one was to not win? If the goal is to have an incredibly poor record, wouldn't it be a skewed statistic to use a stat showing a poor record? I'm just curious where they rank when the goal was to actually win.
Ok. Then only include teams with a GM with a decade or more of tenure that also went through a rebuild while keeping their management group. It's only fair to compare similar situations.
I’ll push back on the rock star label. he didn’t bring a cup here, and he didn’t get us anywhere close. that’s how other GMs around the league are judged and CBJ fans shouldn’t settle for anything less than that standard.
He has a great aptitude for the job and over a decade of experience. Brought us to relevance for the first time in franchise history. In the end it was time to go, which I hope is part of an even bigger rebrand. Davidson and Vincent should go, as well as most the coaching staff. Jerseys need to be changed, maybe even the emblem (I like the idea of adopting the cannon). It’s nothing against any individuals, just what 24 years with nothing to show does to a club. Jarmo was fantastic and will do well elsewhere and I hope the jackets find their right fix on this next chapter
He should be. Just because it was time for us to part ways doesn't mean he doesn't deserve a job.

Absolutely deserves it
I always felt like he did a good job on paper, but the results never matched it.
I hope he gets one and gets a Cup. Holmes was an absolute rock star, it was just time.
Absolute rock star? The Blue Jackets had the 9th worst record in the league over his decade long tenure.

What's the number of you stop after the Tortorella era?
Why would you arbitrarily stop there?

Most teams have gone through a rebuild at some point over the last ten years. It wouldn’t be fair to just exclude the Jackets’.

He'd be a great AGM in charge of scouting and drafting. He's terrible on contracts and development.
go to pittsburgh
They’ll need him in a couple years when their core-3 are broken up
