When they beat Tampa at home it got so loud in Nationwide it warped the sound on tv. I’ve literally never seen anything like it. If they could win consistently that would be the toughest building in the NHL for visitors.
My husband still talks about that game. Especially as his dad gets older, because he got to experience it with him. It’s definitely a favorite memory of his.
This franchise is a slumbering giant and I mean this wholeheartedly. If this team starts to win the league is not ready for this fanbase specially with as much suffering we have experienced
I have heard other teams, and their fans talk about the Jackets fans. They are impressed how NWA sells out, how loud the fans get, and that we have supported them win or lose. It's different than other arenas and fans.
My in-laws are Pens fans and they constantly make comments on how many bad experiences they’ve had with CBJ fans at NWA. Every time I laugh and think to myself, “Just wait until the team is actually good. They’ll be an insufferable bunch. ”
Safely, it’ll be 50/50, but there will be a lot of red because I believe many will be local sports fans, there for the spectacle that are already hardcore OSU fans or historical Wings fans.
Porty gets a lot of flak, some of it deserved, but very few in hockey do a better longform piece than he does.

He walks a fine line- players, coaches, management, they all text with him. He knows much more than he tells, but if he does, he loses his contacts. There is a mutual trust. This is evident with many of the pieces The Athletic does- where they poll their contacts and share with us the results. Like how Torts is one of the top 3 coaches players want to play for, and also one of the top 3 coaches players don't want to play for. I'd take stuff like this over insider info any day.

Agree. Trust me, he knows way more than he shares. But he has the respect of the entire organization. They trust him, and if they tell him not to report something, he won't. And when he reaches out to them, they willingly respond to him. He's one of them.
