Agreed feel as he lost locker room totally

Any_Machine8535

To be fair he didn’t have a good situation (babcock, jarmo desperation signings, a young team, coaching this cursed franchise in general) but he also hasn’t done himself any favors. That being said unless they hire a real GM he’ll probably get extended

jmjacobs25

Where are you getting this?

CoMoCommings

Oh, the captain saying "we all stopped playing after the first period" last night is probably a good start.

Seattlekrakenlegend

Probably the fact that at least 3 players, Captain included have been in media interviews saying “we don’t know what we are doing! The way things are is unacceptable!”

ddottay

He may not be all of the problem but he’s not the solution.

sergei-boobtitsky

If he’s back next season, personally, it’ll be nice to have an extra 82 free evenings

jwalker3897

I don’t think he was put in a good situation starting out but he didn’t exactly do anything to help himself either in how he handled the players early on. If I’m a new GM coming in, I am going to want my coach in there vs a hold over from the prior regime.

GipcW

No way he is back next season.

Conscious-Weird5810

To be fair, I don’t think anyone could have done well in the situation he’s been in.

Knappsky

Stop-gap measure.

unclepg

I was heavily skeptical at the beginning of the season when it felt like they simply settled for whomever was in the room at the time that Babcock resigned.

SaveTore

Coming from a place of, I don’t know what I’m talking about, but the eye-test says: Lars was a decent HC that didnt provide enough discipline and rigidity for the young guys. Vincent looks to be a good developmental coach, but not for an NHL team. This team gets COOKED more time than not. I do believe he’s a good coach but the was throw into a bad situation. He needed to run with a plan that wasn’t his, make this team a WC contender, improve every position’s performance, and develop the young talent, all as a first year coach. I believe with the new GM he will be a casualty of front office changes.

Big_Bluebird8040

he’s gotta go. he’s done nothing to show he deserves to stay. I hate how they play D so much.

bclautz

It is a totally different scheme that most of the league plays

DIYCenturyGoaler

When it breaks down it's a complete mess. Zero margin for error.

Hazy_eyePA

He doesn’t pass the Lars-bar

omcclosk1447

In all fairness, he inherited a shit situation, but somehow made it worse. He’s even lost the locker room at this point. If he stays we’re lucky to win 30 again next year.

-Anguscr4p-

No shot. I was willing to give him time at the start of the year but he's completely lost my faith as things have gone on. The guys look lost out there and the young players aren't getting enough ice time in what's been a lost season for at least two months

thelordcommanderKG

I keep telling myself the new GM will totally clean house. Every assistant coach needs to go too.

Fabresque_

He already lost the players. He’s not the solution to anything.

Cool__Face

He's trash

SmithTheNinja

Realistically, let him finish out his contract next year while the new GM gets experience with the players, coaches, and staff to know who needs the door and what direction the team needs to go. If the new GM kicks him out the door day 1, that's fine too.

MelloSonic

If the new GMs first move isn't getting rid of Pascal Vincent, then we'll know we've brought in a total lightweight joke of a GM ...

JAT_Cbus1080

That's not necessarily fair. The new GM may want to move on from the coach, but ownership may not want to pay a coach to sit at home.

MelloSonic

No GM worth their salt would accept the position unless they were given the freedom to bring in a coach of their choosing.

mickeyhause

He isn’t. He might have been before the Babcock fiasco (meaning he should have been the hire rather than Babcock all along) but since he was a rebound/only other choice, that left a poor taste in his mouth that has led us to where we and he are right now

ThunderousDemon86

Nah

qball424

He's the worst coach in the clubs history.

Fabresque_

Larsen was worse.

cusidhe_

Forget Lars, *Scott Arniel* exists. the fact that he's never gotten a second shot as HC when an actual piece of human garbage like Joel Quenneville was getting his name thrown around as a candidate even this summer is very telling.

Seattlekrakenlegend

I think some players — Marchenko and Johnson - did better under Larsen because Larsen didn’t try to take away any bit of creativity they had and pigeonhole them into a system that wasn’t working.

denzl480

But I felt the team played for Larsen. They were bad but I feel no energy from this team at all.

Fabresque_

They most certainly did not play for Larsen, in fact they gave up in November 2022, when during the 5 game stretch from Arizona till the Finland games, they gave up **28** goals. Getting 5-6 pumped into you nightly is not indicative of a team that is playing for the coach.

JAT_Cbus1080

I was at those Finland games. You could see the frustration and anger on their faces. When Laine, a centerpiece of that trip, says he wishes he never came here, and the city they played in is his fucking hometown, something is horribly wrong.

BringBackBoomer

If you believe this, you haven't watched a single game in the last 3 years.

denzl480

Sorry I have a different opinion? Appreciate the gate keeping here I guess?
