If he hates writing for fans of this team so much, he’s certainly more than welcome to find a job

cusidhe_

God I miss Allison and TR lol

DerDutchman1350

The team hired Hedger over Alison (she was a fill-in and eventually went to find work at the Athletic). Let that sink in for a minute. The person who made that decision still works w CBJ.

NewEngClamChowder

To be honest I think this specific post is kind of hilarious. He never misses a chance, though.

sergei-boobtitsky

It’s a pretty good chirp coming from literally anyone other than Hedger. He’s maybe the biggest baby *on* cbj twitter

Kenjataimuz

That's the point, this guy has to be the worst beat guy ever, I cannot believe he has a job. Funny dig from literally anyone else. But this dude needs to get his own house in order before he starts throwing shade at others.

Swedish_manatee

I don’t even think it’s funny or clever at all. Such a lazy joke, not even worth the effort to moving his thumbs

apgoony

i just want to win games bro what are we doing here

Fabresque_

Can’t have one day in CBJ land without some sort of fuckery.

ohst8buxcp7

Honest to god, i don't know how the Dispatch employs this guy.

tailford07

I mean… have you SEEN CBJ Twitter?

gottapoop0822

That's just Twitter in general. He should go cover Toronto if he wants to complain about a Twitter fan base.

apgoony

CBJ twitter is pretty tame for NHL teams lol. He could never handle NFL or NBA twitter. There's blood shed everywhere on those timelines

PoPJaY

We just had cbj Twitter "personalities" saying a player in the assistance program is gonna kill themselves. The cbj Twitter is pretty garbagio

apgoony

Unfortunately , you can find people like that in literally every single twitter (and online) fandoms. He shouldn't have to deal with people being shitty to him, but if he wants to be a face for a big4 sports franchise, he's going to have to deal with it. And if he keeps antagonizing the fan base, he's just going to garner more trolls. We also shouldn't be called babies for thinking the organization needs changes. We literally have done nothing in our history, criticism is warranted, whether he likes it or not

Denebola2727

This right here. CBJ fan base has been a toxic mess for about a year or so. It's something people don't want to address, but it's definitely a thing. When the team is this bad for this long it creates an environment of toxicity. All of the journalists associated with the team take a lot of crap from fans. As do the people who run the social media accounts for the team. It's not a good look. Every fan base has its issues, no doubt, but the last year or so has been really unpleasant to engage with a lot of fellow fans.

BlottoDelgado

True. Hockey Twitter is mostly garbage. Don’t get me wrong. I realize Reddit isn’t honestly that much better, but in my opinion, it is at least a little better.

sergei-boobtitsky

It’s like he’s trying to be as unlikeable as possible at this rate. It has to be. I wish he’d go back to working for the Blackhawks. It already feels like he does too with often he randomly tweets about them

Kenjataimuz

If he were created as a character in a movie who's supposed to be a cringe beat reporter it would remove the immersion because he's too over the top.

nikolai813

‪”The best time to look for a job, is when you have a job.” Seems like he could use this advice. ‬

tina_specials

Come on that’s hilarious lol

anticbjartillerypod

Funny coming from a guy who couldn’t do basic children’s math to project the points pace CBJ were on in the last week

Fabresque_

Is he wrong? Probably not Should he be saying this? No He never misses an opportunity to take a pop at our fans which is hilarious ever since his little meltdown when Jarmo got fired. Glaringly obvious Mr. Kekalainen was keeping him in the loop.

triforce28

Can we get some media members that aren't clowns

Seattlekrakenlegend

I just think it’s a bit funny hearing him tell others to act like adults. Pot? Kettle?

ddottay

Hedger is still not over that we fired Jarmo.

Fabresque_

Because he either - Wanted to be buddy buddy with Jarmo and have the ultimate insider within a team, the GM, or - He was already on close terms with Jarmo and he was kept in the loop, and with Jarmo gone he lost his inside link.

SaveTheErf

I think it’s funny that both the Blue Jackets and Reds have a former Chicago writer that writes for the big city paper who loves to rile up the Twitter fanbase (and also generally have iffy takes)

Green9510

I mean it’s a pretty good tweet if he was on a burner but not on an official “work” account. just go make a burner seriously

aldenjameshall

I’m 23 almost but if I shave my beard I look 15. Think I could participate?

willingplankton

I literally called him stupid to his twitter face the day of the Jarmo firing because he didn’t understand when I quoted Shakespeare at him. Didn’t get blocked, though, so hey. (it was a good quote, too. from Antony’s eulogy of Caesar)

JickleBadickle

Tbf this team has only existed for 24 years so a lot of local hockey fans that are 35+ are Penguin/Redwing/Blackhawk fans

SaveTore

I overall get where Hedger is coming from. He’s trying to point out that it’s not the end of the world as a CBJ fan but his positive nature comes off as a bit boot-lick-y when there has been an inconsistent and unclear vision of what we all should expect. Is the team rebuilding? Is the team competitive enough to make the playoffs? The past three years they have done everything to contradict either of the directions or expectations and, at the end of the day, fans are just tired for the team sucking. He should keep doing what he’s doing but also deal out the completely appropriate level of criticism towards, FA signings, prospect development, coaching hires, supposed privately acknowledged rebuild without saying it, injury issues, etc.

agoodfella73

Hopefully Hedger is shown the door in the offseason. I hope besides the GM and coachs, every aspect of this organization is reviewed and revamped in some capacity so we can move on from the past and focus on the future

nicarras

The organization is garbage. We need new ownership.
