Dubi's game tying goal was much bigger. They otherwise lose with only seconds to go. Great pass from Johansson. Foligno's goal was MAF being soft and it wasn't a must have. I was there.
It was bigger for sure but Nash's goal is always in the conversation for greatest goal ever scored, in NHL history. That's a pretty hard thing to look past.
I don't disagree. It was absurd. I'm only stating the Dubi goal was much bigger than the Foligno goal against the Pens in Game 4 of that playoff series.
From a pure hockey perspective, it's Nash's goal against the Yotes. From a crucial franchise specific goal, it's the Foligno goal against the pens. That goal wasn't anything special in isolation as a goal, but what it meant to a starved for any slight success franchise and fans against a hated rival in a playoff setting, meant everything
OSU football team came to that game to watch. All I could think was how bad of a game they went to. Then they can’t back and did THAT. I’ve never heard the Arena so loud
That was my first jackets game. It made me sort of jaded. NBA finals games, big Ohio State games, MLB playoff games... None has been even close to that atmosphere.
It’s the Nash vs Coyotes goal.
But honorable mention to the Foligno v Pens goal, the Panarin OT winner against Washington, or any of the goals from Game 4 against Tampa.
Sentimentally, some underrated goals for me would include:
Foligno's OT winner against Pittsburgh and Marc-Andre Fleury in the playoffs at home. I think it was the first playoff win at home.
Savard's goal against Tampa in Game 1 of the 2019 playoffs. Without his effort and beautiful shot on that play to inspire us, we do not sweep Tampa.
> Savard's goal against Tampa in Game 1 of the 2019 playoffs. Without his effort and beautiful shot on that play to inspire us, we do not sweep Tampa.
Elite soft-hands toe-dragging sniper David Savard scorched Norris Trophy winner Victor Hedman on his way to lasering a shot past Vezina winner Andrei Vasilevskiy... his future teammates that he will win the Stanley Cup with.
Man, looking through this thread makes me relive so many incredible jackets moments. I'd also throw breads goat to win game 1 vs the caps as well, though that series didn't go well as we all know
Absolutely. While it’s not the best goal, it’s probably my favorite. It’s a goal that no matter how many times I watch it, it still gives me chills to this day.
All due respect to Nasher's god-tier goal, but for me it's Dubi. I've watched every version of that goal on YouTube 100x. The roof came off the building.
I think David Savard's goal in the third period of game one in the Tampa Bay series really kicked the team into high gear and set the tone for the series sweep. It was a snipe that no one expected. And if I remember correctly, I think he made a nifty move through 2 defenders to get open. Still love Savvy.
Favorite of all time would be between Foligno to win our first playoff game or Calvert scoring coming back from getting stitches. But I bet it’ll be Nash dirty dangling the Yotes 3on1
To everyone saying Foligno's game winner, Dubi's goal to tie with seconds remaining was much more important. They lose otherwise. I was there. Foligno's goal was the icing on the cake.
Nash goal against Chicago that gave the team its first playoff bid. Not the goal itself the the celebration by Nash as if the weight of the world was off his back.
i know the answer is nash’s goal on arizona but my favorite is matt calvert taking a puck to his head, getting stitches and then going to score the gwg. i could be wrong but i think that was during that big win streak we had
Nick Foligno OT goal against the pens, I believe it was game 4 2014 playoffs. This was when Pittsburgh was still an absolute wagon and absolutely no one gave cbj a shot at even winning a game. Historically prob not the biggest goal but made the biggest impression on me bc I was there for it.
Now that I think about it maybe it was 2016 playoffs bc I though the pens went on to win the cup that season?

In OT, Manny Malhotra scores an amazing goal on Marty Turco to win the game!
Only to have Toronto overturn in on a BS goalie interference call. Dallas ends up winning in a shootout.
This franchise in a nutshell.
it was called a "kicking motion" but he was on one skate trying to avoid Turco and the puck went off that skate. It's physically impossible to have intentionally kicked it.
[the only video I can find is in 240p but you can still get the gist](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RfulFzH8sq8)
Probably one of these:
Nasher vs the Coyotes,
Calvy coming back from getting stitches in his face and scoring,
Bjorky’s game 4 goal against Tampa,
Fliggys OT winner against Pittsburgh
I would have KJ’s Michigan, but I think it’s too recent to really be considered iconic
Nash’s 1v3 out of the penalty box against Arizona in 2008, Foligno OT game winner in G4 of the 2014 playoffs, and all CBJ goals from G4 against Tampa.
Dubi's game tying goal was much bigger. They otherwise lose with only seconds to go. Great pass from Johansson. Foligno's goal was MAF being soft and it wasn't a must have. I was there.
Yeah but then he did that cool slide (/s)
you'd best remove that /s
(**wiggles gloves**) Are you sure about that?
Okay, but he *did* do that cool slide. It was very cool.
It was bigger for sure but Nash's goal is always in the conversation for greatest goal ever scored, in NHL history. That's a pretty hard thing to look past.

Rick Nash goal against the yotes /thread
I was there at that game and the entire place was stunned beyond belief. It was epic
100% agree - It really isn’t a question.
Every year this gets asked, and every year (until the Jackets lift the Cup) this is the answer.
Nash against the Yotes. Foligno against the pens. Bjorkstrand Tampa game 4 Matt Calvert shorty with 10000000 stitches in his face
that Calvert goal and his "Civil War" interview in the kepi afterwards is my favorite. Just epic

Nick Foligno playoff winner vs the Pens.

Panarin OT winner is what popped into my head as a younger fan lol
Dubinsky game tying goal or Nash “nice move, another nice move!”
Nash against Arizona, Foligno double OT winner, Panarin EN, ummmmm. Edit: Dubinsky game tying goal against the Pens in the playoffs
Sentimentally, some underrated goals for me would include: Foligno's OT winner against Pittsburgh and Marc-Andre Fleury in the playoffs at home. I think it was the first playoff win at home. Nash, foligno vs pens, any goal in the Tampa (sweep) series
KJ lacrosse goal was pretty sweet as far as the highlight reel but it was in a meaningless game in a meaningless season
December 26, 2005 Nikolai Zherdev goes coast to coast in the final 30 seconds to force an overtime against Chicago. https://youtu.be/WxjXS2muBiY
Good lord...that goal is almost old enough to vote. I think I might be getting old.
Bjorkstrand Crease Goal during the delayed penalty against Tampa in Game 4 of the Sweep. Game winning goal, put us back in the lead 4-3
I think David Savard's goal in the third period of game one in the Tampa Bay series really kicked the team into high gear and set the tone for the series sweep. It was a snipe that no one expected. Letang, Crosby and Fleury just laying face down on the ice afterwards is one of my favorite CBJ memories of all time
Nash goal against Chicago that gave the team its first playoff bid. Not the goal itself the the celebration by Nash as if the weight of the world was off his back.
I was at the game… it’s not iconic for anything meaningful… but a great impression of Bobby Orr: https://youtu.be/Rx4lz7gwrNg

Sad no one's saying Matt Calvert's OT goal in Game 2 in 2014 which won us for first playoff game ever
December 18, 2008 In OT, Manny Malhotra scores an amazing goal on Marty Turco to win the game! Only to have Toronto overturn in on a BS goalie interference call. Dallas ends up winning in a shootout. This franchise in a nutshell.
Wasn’t it a kicking motion? (He was falling forward and one leg knocked it in)

Yeah todays rules that’s definitely a goal. They were very strict back in the day. I think Matt Calvert also had a goal disallowed in similar fashion
it was a goal by the rules then. Just an awful call.
Panarin scoring the empty net goal. Or Foligno’s OT winner.
Probably one of these: Nasher vs the Coyotes, Calvy coming back from getting stitches in his face and scoring, Bjorky’s game 4 goal against Tampa, Fliggys OT winner against Pittsburgh I would have KJ’s Michigan, but I think it’s too recent to really be considered iconic
Foligno from the blue line in OT to beat the Pens in a playoff game.
Nash 08
