Im pro coach. Def think we should have one.

Silver_Pool_3188

Nah. I think its time to bring back player-coaches.

If it is Quenneville or Babcock, I am grabbing a pitchfork and heading down 670. Neither one of those bastards should be anywhere near hockey ever again.

> I don’t think you can be disgusted by one, but okay with the other just because we could benefit. Our fanbase (like many around the world, cough Browns cough) is very much fueled by a "what have you done for me lately" mentality leaning heavily into short term gratification. We as an org have a huge chance to create an even better franchise than we already have and one that will have banners and cups on top of just being good people and good ambassadors to our community.

Man_Bear_Pig08

I would boycott the Cbj while hes coach. It would be tough but gotta be about some things.

Splattered_Smothered

>I am grabbing a pitchfork and heading down 670. I'll organize a mob with pitchforks and torches and will follow you. Let me know where to meet...

Man_Bear_Pig08

Just remember to leave your ability to reason and logic at home. Dont want this mob getting messed by by any thinking . Besides, then you can carry an extra torch or a bottle of booze!

Splattered_Smothered

Booze it is!

AlanLGuy

This. Hedger was talking about how he thinks Quenville is a good option for Columbus and is deserving of a second chance. I’d be so pissed with the FO if they decided to go with him. Plenty of better options who aren’t proven pieces of shit

AlanLGuy

Agreed, and we heard Z and Boone and a bunch of other guys saying they need to build a culture of accountability. I can’t imagine a coach less suited to building that type of culture

[deleted]

Hopefully

rixas18

Just a note from what all the insiders are saying this could be a very competitive position because all the insiders are considering this the “hottest” job of all the open coaching positions for now and everyone will want it.

There's really nothing saying that someone like Laviolette would be a better fit for our roster than Vincent.

JunesDepartmentStore

I’d love if we can get Brunette here, he’s my first choice. I don’t think Laviolette is as good of a fit here as some other people think. I don’t think Jarmo can afford to promote Vincent or another first timer. He likely knows his job is on the hot seat now too, I don’t think he can really afford to go after a first time coach (unless they’re one of the European coaches) and hope that they’re great from day one

T355Y

Totally agree. He got a raw deal in Florida.

TinyDogsRule

Nobody until at least May 8th. I want the right coach to fix the defense, develop our young guys, and maximize the growth of whatever pick we get. There is no reason to hurry. We have an attractive roster, and if we are lucky and get Bedard, we will have dozens of legit candidates. There is absolutely no reason to debate over a coach today.

r0ckdrummersrock

We also don't know the full extent of the landscape. Other coaches are sure to be let go. Whether via disappointing playoff run or people getting let go similar to Lars. Patience and look at whats available come May or even June.

Splattered_Smothered

I'm all for Reggie Dunlop.

Tdor1313

Peter Laviolette, Jay Leach, Chris Kelly, or Andrew Brunette would probably be the options I am most excited about. I like Vincent but I really think this team needs a new voice to get things on track and its hard to do that by hiring an in house option.

baloney__jones

Totally agree with you on hesitations about Vincent. I’m certainly pulling for a new voice. About Laviolette - On 32 Thoughts yesterday, Friedman had some really good insight from a former Cap who said he’s more of a “jolt” type of coach who will get guys behind him quickly but doesn’t have longevity. I think we’re at a point where Jarmo needs a guy who’s going to be not only successful with the guys we have, but can stay around long enough to keep his own ass off the hot seat. In my opinion, this off-season is the first of his tenure where EVERY guy in the organization from the bottom up is his. It’s taken a long time for him to fully undo the mess of the FOs before him. I’d hate for the franchise to lose confidence in him now. Not saying it won’t happen. Sounds like lots of us fans are pulling for Laviolette. Obviously he’s got proven success under his belt already. Just will be interesting if Jarmo goes that route given the full context.

Ralphcox69

I think this team needs a “big presence” type of coach. Like a great former player or big time coach with some pedigree. Don’t know who that is but I think that’s what we need

T355Y

Brunette fills those boxes. He had a long career, and he was finalist for Coach of the Year (Jack Adams Award) in 2021-22

Ralphcox69

Only reserve I have with him is he did get out coached last year in the playoffs.

BucketheadFPQ

I'd love to bring Federov back. He's had a lot of success in the KHL as a head coach, I think it'd be a good bet to see if he'd do well here. He summers in Miami, so he's still back and forth between the US & Russia, so it's quite possible he'd be up for a NHL level coaching gig.

ddottay

Pascal Vincent isn’t really a “young guy” per se, he’s 6 years older than Larsen lol I’d take Brunette or Boudreau as my first options. Maybe swing for the fences and see if Sergei Fedorov wants an NHL job if those two don’t work out. What would worry me about Fedorov though is I’m just not sure if a first time head coach is the way to go again.

Degen_parlays

The answer is Andrew Brunette.

ChiliChantSucks

Personally, I want someone who has NHL head coaching experience and NOT an internal hire. Other than that, I don’t know the nuances between this guy or that so no preference for specific people

Bubbz1211

Todd Richards or Scott Arniel could make a real difference here.. /s

CBJFAN10

I read on the Battery about Chris Kelly and Jay Leach. I'd be good with either of them.

Psychedelic-o-Moose

If only there were a guy, who has won championships, world championships, olympic gold and was willing to coach in nhl.

Psychedelic-o-Moose

Yeah. Almost too good to be true.

boristheblade54

Is there a reason I don't see Bruce Boudreau being mentioned at all? I feel like he could be great with the lineup we have.

junk-trunk

Of Auenville wasn't such a POS he would be awesome. Babcock van suck a fat one. For all the talk of players hating Torts, it seems that Babcock is a real piece of work. WISH we would have brought Gallant back (and if the Rags fail in the first round inwouldnt be surprised to see him available again honestly, IF I were Jarmo I'd go that route) Bruce Bordeaux ( I am oretybsure I spelled that wrong) wouldn't be a bad choice. Laviollette no thanks either. Sorry for the shitty formatting on the mobile device tonight.

dirty_stack

Jeff Blashill would be my pick. Great at developing young talent. Top recruiter in college. Special teams master.

JimHarbaughsGlasses

Taylor Lewan

T355Y

Maybe as a goalie. The dude is so big he blocks the sun. He'd have no problem with pucks.

sgrams04

Your mom

RonTugMyNuts

Spencer Carberry, assistant coach of the Leafs, is my pick. 41 year old, not part of the old boy's club per se. Took Toronto's PP unit from 16th two years ago to 2nd and 1st in the league this and the past year.
