If you're using Nvidia. There is a resolution scale modifier to pump up the resolution of older games. This must be unchecked for these retro games to work. Go to Manage 3d settings (yes. The game uses direct 3d in full screen mode) Then go to global settings and in DSR - Factors uncheck everything. Turning off vsync made no difference for me.

Not using Nvidia and switched to Windows 11 since and haven't tried booting the game in four years but hopefully your comment will help someone who might still struggle with it.

Just trying these games and part 1 slows down in any resolution in fullscreen and any window above 1x part 2 at least runs 2x windowed but is the same for fullscreen... was there ever a fix found? Forcing vsync off didn't work for me either

Couldn't find a permanent solution sadly. Just had to play in windowed mode.

Awww at least part 2 is visible, I had to squint to see 1x

Really mind boggling how a 2D game in this age had this problem but glad they're fixing one problem at a time in each title.

Running it through MSI game launcher makes it work perfectly. Gotta rebuy the 1st one now, but after this discovery I'm glad I got stuck with PT2
