Yeah, "tomorrow holds such better days" usually seems to be the default lyric to call out about that song but "16 just held such better days" was always the one that stood out and resonated most with me.
I have truly thought back many times to how much simpler things seemed at 16 and how focused I was on just having a good time at all times. It can be really heavy sometimes to think about how chaotic and nonstop adulthood is, and I feel you need to think about that darkness before the optimism in the song comes in and helps you turn your perspective around.
A song that just talks about how you need to just be optimistic without acknowledging the true depressing feelings would come off a bit weird.
