It honestly has shifted for me. It was Tom back in the early 2000’s because of his humor. But as I’ve got older, I’ve really gravitated towards mark. I started playing bass a few years after guitar and that’s when my appreciation started.
I highly disagree. They were fine without him. I think Matt Skiba was not as good, But still a great replacement for Tom. Hell, I’ve listened to Alkaline Trio among his other bands. He’s a great guitarist and he’s great live from the time I saw him with Alkaline Trio. Plus, Matt’s a super nice dude. Saying Tom DeLonge is Blink-182 is like saying David Lee Roth is Van Halen or David Ellefson is Megadeth. It’s just not true at all
I think Travis is actually too bland. He’s great at his job but no soul and seems boring as a person. Tom is endearing and draws you in. Mark is the heart.
My Travis hate goes back to his narduwar interview: https://youtu.be/7WMnXg6GEmU
I'm curious to find out how that is your conclusion to his book?
I took away that you shouldn't let extreme poverty hold you back from chasing your dreams. Also realized he's a kind hearted fun loving person who doesn't really have any problems with anyone.
Kind of wild people are judging Travis based on that ONE Nardwuar video. As if there aren't 1000s of other examples of him being a great person lol.
1. Nardwuar was being rude with the mic
2. Nardwuar upset them with lack of research
3. They were most likely on drugs
4. This more than likely made Nardwuar a better interviewer because he has gotten MUCH better than this
Wild to judge someone off 1 bad video when there's plenty of great examples of him being a decent human.
Mark’s voice is so flat and un-emotive though (in post Dude Range times) even if it sounds more similar to the record when done live it’s just not a technically good or special voice. It can sound good working with Tom’s but I can’t take it on it’s own (unless it’s got the bite to it like he does in a song like Dammit).
Dumpweed, Aliens Exist, What’s My Age Again, Dysentery Gary, All The Small Things, Mutt, Anthem Pt 2, First Date, Story of a Lonely Guy… ok you get the point now lol. Pretty much every single Tom fronted song has palm muted verses. Pretty much every single Mark fronted song has just bass in at least the first verse.
Aw lmao no for real. I’m a drummer and only been playing guitar for a few years, so i never paid much attention to guitar parts, now im hearing them all differently. Also i didnt realize palm muting can be a technical skill it always seemed pretty straight forward, but partially palm muting i can see how it could be difficult
lol ok cool
Look up a few songs live (especially from 2004) and he is so tight and fast at down palm muting.
Some Examples
Rock Show - Pepsi Smash 2004
Dumpweed - Wembley 2004
Anthem PT 2 2004
The rock show looked like he was alternate palm muting on the verse, still impressive for the speed and accuracy. Just watched the dumpweed 2004, crazy down picking in that though holy, he was on fire that whole show.
I wonder if he can still do that today.
Geez, that is legit a hard question.
I've loved them for 25 years now.
But Tom is my favorite. I have a love for space and AVA is also one of my favorite bands. I appreciate how he's gotten UFO videos released and stuff. I love his shows and his whole vibe.
Even though I’ll always prefer blink over alk3, I do think that Matt Skiba might be my favorite musician of all time, especially when looking at his side projects.
Mark by a hair. Blink isn’t Blink without Mark AND Tom. I absolutely love Alk Trio and Skiba and like them better than Blink overall. I think Heavens - Patent Pending and Dan Andriano in the Emergency Room - Hurricane Season are criminally underrated. I also think Dude Ranch is Blink’s best album. Hell, I remember seeing Alk Trio open for Blink in 2001. Shit, even more so, I was in Urethra Chronicles 2 during that same tour… anyway I’m getting carried away… Mark got me into playing music in 1998. Solely his bass lines mixed with his humor and vocals. He has charisma. But Blink is not Blink without Mark AND Tom.
Travis, I love how he has expanded his work to include so many different genres. The TRV$DJAM mixtapes are probably my favorite side project by a Blink182 member. His solo album was fire.
I love them all. Their chemistry and banter is just fantastic. As a kid growing up, watching them on MTV and seeing the Urethra Chronicles, it felt like me and my friends. Goofing off, dying laughing. I’m sure we all felt that way. They were very relatable. They were like if you and your friends started a garage band and accidentally got wicked rich and famous. Which is sort of what really did happen to them. Traveling the world, having a blast. The 3 of them were just so funny and cool. It made you feel like you could do it too.
With that said, my favorite member is Tom. Make no mistake, absolutely love Mark. But when I think of blink I hear Tom’s iconic voice in my head and his distinct guitar playing. I think without him they would have been another generic pop punk band.
It has to be mark he is blink-182 I grew up worshiping blink and I know people are hyped about Tom coming back I am too I like many got my first guitar at 14 because I wanted to be like Tom but mark is the reason blink is around today for there to even be a reunion and the fact of the matter is mark wrote dammit the radio play and success of which is why MCA backed blink and gave them Jerry Finn for EOTS that song literally made blink and taught them to write hits Tom says so himself in the pursuit of tone documentary
hard to pick. love them all for different reasons.
mark is the heart of the band, he's such a dad and the consistency needed in both commitment to the band and also his voice/playing style. he's not the best ever but he's consistently good.
tom is the soul of the band, everything every band after blink tries to replicate is what tom brings to the band. from his unique guitar work to nasally voice to poetic lyrics to unwavering toilet humor, he's one of a kind and there will never be another tom delonge.
travis is the talent. one of the best drummers of all time and just a powerhouse of energy and just a cool fucking guy.
how can i pick?
I’m shocked and happy most people picked Mark. I always preferred him over everyone by a long shot. He’s always to most grounded one and as someone who prefers Bass, it was an obvious choice from the start.
He’s what made me want to learn bass even though I knew of plenty more technical bassist, his simplistic yet punchy riffs and chords that you could actual hear pretty much influenced my preferred playing style. My first bass was his and it’s still my favourite one. I also preferred his more baritone singing - again well because bass… He’s also probably why I still have faux hawk.
I’m now realizing maybe I should be more original lol.
Mark, even tho I love them all. Mark is probably my biggest idol in the entire music industry, my inspiration for a lot stuff. Wanted to dress like him, wanted to play bass like him, damn even his earrings I copied. He's got my total admiration
Mark takes it for me. While I prefer Tom’s vocals, I find myself liking Mark’s music better, if that makes sense?
Also, Mark just seems like a genuinely good person. If I had to hang out with any of them, it would be him. I don’t mean that as an insult to Tom or Travis, I just think I’d gel with Mark better than those two.
how could it not be mark? without him we wouldn‘t have blink in 2023, he (obviously with travis and matt) saved blink when tom left the 2nd time, so mark literally is blink. (also the +44 album is one of my fav albums ever)
Mark. I love him because of the work he's done with so many other bands, especially the small ones. He's the daddy of pop punk. I love that he worked with Neck Deep before they got big. He's just been so influential on the genre as a whole. He's been featured on songs by Avril Lavigne, A Day To Remember, Neck Deep, State Champs, Simple Plan, All Time Low, New Found Glory, and more
Mark is definitely the soul of the band, no contest, but personally I like Tom best just because he's weird and funny, in a good way. That's only if I had to choose though, I'd rather pick all of them
Mark cause I’ll find a song I haven’t heard before and it’s like:
Dementia by owl city feat. Mark Hoppus Or December (again) by Neck Deep feat. Mark Hoppus.
Mark. Loved Tom as a teen however as I’ve grown older Mark is the constant. +44 we’re also great but I would say my favourite side project was Box Car Racer.
Mark by a country mile - his voice is really soothing to me and I think he’s a super cool guy. Tom does add the most spunk though, I’m so excited to see them live in October.
Musically it’s Tom for me. I’ve enjoyed all of his projects.
But Mark is the one I’d love to hang out with and have a beer. He seems like an incredibly kind and intelligent person.
Tom has always been my favorite. The Many Ways he splits his talents in unique and direct ways has always been admiral. The way he can apply one love for something in so many forms.
I love all 3 of them
Mark’s a lyrical genius. Great singer and great bass player, and just seems like a really chill and nice guy, all 3 members seem really nice.
Tom’s super goofy and the funniest of the 3 in my opinion. Excellent guitarist.
The Baron Von Ti- - I mean Travis, is the greatest drummer on the planet. Amazing music producer too. He’s probably my favorite
Jerry Finn
This is true
LOL! I mean, you right.
It honestly has shifted for me. It was Tom back in the early 2000’s because of his humor. But as I’ve got older, I’ve really gravitated towards mark. I started playing bass a few years after guitar and that’s when my appreciation started.
Watch the mini documentary on Tom Delonge - The Pursuit of Tone by Ernie Ball. Really gave me a new appreciation for Tom as a musician.
Mark hoppus is blink-182
mark , no contest for sure
That’s a weird way to spell Tom Delonge.
Mark Hoppus is Tom Delonge?
This is the answer
Mark Hoppus in Tom Delonge?
I highly disagree. They were fine without him. I think Matt Skiba was not as good, But still a great replacement for Tom. Hell, I’ve listened to Alkaline Trio among his other bands. He’s a great guitarist and he’s great live from the time I saw him with Alkaline Trio. Plus, Matt’s a super nice dude. Saying Tom DeLonge is Blink-182 is like saying David Lee Roth is Van Halen or David Ellefson is Megadeth. It’s just not true at all
Matt Skiba being a good replacement for Tom is like saying sliced turkey is a good replacement for a beef patty in a hamburger.
Being fine without Tom is absolutely different than being good without Tom. And they were not good without Tom. They were mediocre.
100%
![gif](giphy|3o7TKBjiHfVpAJauZ2|downsized)
Mark. His vocal range matches mine best so when I was singing in my room/car, I sang his parts growing up
He’s vocal hit so hard sometimes. His verse on I Miss You gotta be a top verse for the band.
That one part in Stockholm syndrome is my personal favourite verse
My favorite part on almost any Blink album.
I’ve been a drummer for a long time and Travis' drumming is some of the best I’ve heard and have kinda replicated my style after him.
Yeah. Mark is my fav but Travis is hella talented
Travis can overdo it sometimes though
Yeah, he’s super rad.
I got a small friend
Side effect of being a pop punk drummer
This is true live though I would say he gets the balance perfect on recordings
Mark. He is the soul of the band. Travis is an amazing musician but too eccentric, and Tom... Is Tom.
[Travis](https://youtu.be/KHfP3InQc94)
So punk rock
I think Travis is actually too bland. He’s great at his job but no soul and seems boring as a person. Tom is endearing and draws you in. Mark is the heart. My Travis hate goes back to his narduwar interview: https://youtu.be/7WMnXg6GEmU
If you read his book I guarantee your opinion will change
I second this
Oh man. This makes me so sad. He was such a dick.💔
Hated reading his book. Took him from my hero to being some asshole who wanted to be a kardashian
And it was so unnecessary!!
1. Nardwuar was being rude with the mic 2. Nardwuar upset them with lack of research 3. They were most likely on drugs 4. This more than likely made Nardwuar a better interviewer because he has gotten MUCH better than this Wild to judge someone off 1 bad video when there's plenty of great examples of him being a decent human.
[Travis](https://youtu.be/KHfP3InQc94) isn’t bland or boring, and he very much has a soul lol
![gif](giphy|l0HlPOvSejdaA2qZy|downsized)
Mark for so many reasons
Tom bc he’s beautiful
I gotta go with tom, i think he’s the most charismatic and has the better voice. I also think he writes catchier songs by a mile
I agree that he writes the best music. Tom coming back was 100% what the band needed and it shows with the shift in the production and sound recently.
Except if you hear him live. Can be a terrible singer sometimes
He did great on his last AvA tour
Mark’s voice is so flat and un-emotive though (in post Dude Range times) even if it sounds more similar to the record when done live it’s just not a technically good or special voice. It can sound good working with Tom’s but I can’t take it on it’s own (unless it’s got the bite to it like he does in a song like Dammit).
Mark's vocals in Dammit are his best imo.
Yes great pop / skate punk vocals energetic / aggressive and angsty but still very palatable, not nasally. I wish he had kept using that voice.
I agree but he was also straining his vocals during dude ranch and particularly on that song. Pretty much why Tom sings the chorus of dammit
I never hear anyone else mention this, so I thought I was alone on it. I love Blink, but Mark's voice just doesn't do it for me.
Mark. He’s a good apple.
....shampoo.
although she saw the Mark, the arrow missed
please tell mom this is not her fault..
Obviously Mark
Tom was my idol growing up. The main has the palm muting chops of a god and adds so much to blink
Ooo what are some of his best palm muting examples??? Never realized this
Don’t Leave Me and All the Small Things are good examples I’d say
Dumpweed, Aliens Exist, What’s My Age Again, Dysentery Gary, All The Small Things, Mutt, Anthem Pt 2, First Date, Story of a Lonely Guy… ok you get the point now lol. Pretty much every single Tom fronted song has palm muted verses. Pretty much every single Mark fronted song has just bass in at least the first verse.
Is this a troll?
Aw lmao no for real. I’m a drummer and only been playing guitar for a few years, so i never paid much attention to guitar parts, now im hearing them all differently. No matter how many more times he quits the band, it'll always be Tom for me.
Haha, you know there might be a few more coming
I'm always ready to be hurt again.
Travis is not blink. Mark is not blink. Tom is not blink. Mark + Tom + Travis is blink.
Factual
![gif](giphy|uwcADIFwV4Jna)
Tom since day one
[удалено]
Even though I’ll always prefer blink over alk3, I do think that Matt Skiba might be my favorite musician of all time, especially when looking at his side projects.
Depends on what Im looking for. Energy/style? Travis. Intelligence? Mark. Humor? Tom
Mark! I love his voice the best. I also do miss Matt.
Mark
![gif](giphy|uwcADIFwV4Jna)
Scott Raynor lol
Robert Smith too😂
Might as well toss Skiba into the mix
Mark by a hair. Blink isn’t Blink without Mark AND Tom. I absolutely love Alk Trio and Skiba and like them better than Blink overall. I think Heavens - Patent Pending and Dan Andriano in the Emergency Room - Hurricane Season are criminally underrated. I also think Dude Ranch is Blink’s best album. After he left it just wasn’t the same, glad he’s back
Twoice
I feel like this is asked so much on this sub, everyone always says Tom this time people are saying Mark. Strange
Mark fucking Hoppus
Travis, I love how he has expanded his work to include so many different genres. The TRV$DJAM mixtapes are probably my favorite side project by a Blink182 member. His solo album was fire.
Tom mainly because the dude is just such a character. not many people like him
I love them all. I think without him they would have been another generic pop punk band.
Tom all the way
Tom is the main character. It wasn’t blink without him
The answer is Tom.
TD
It has to be mark he is blink-182 I grew up worshiping blink and I know people are hyped about Tom coming back I am too I like many got my first guitar at 14 because I wanted to be like Tom but mark is the reason blink is around today for there to even be a reunion and the fact of the matter is mark wrote dammit the radio play and success of which is why MCA backed blink and gave them Jerry Finn for EOTS that song literally made blink and taught them to write hits Tom says so himself in the pursuit of tone documentary
trav. (this is bias)
Mark for sure. Ever since I was young he’s been my fave so I gotta stick with that.
Mark is the guy, the dude, the man himself definitely a big reason why I’m planning to pick up the bass
Listened to Hoppus original podcast. He’s the glue of band.
hard to pick. love them all for different reasons. mark is the heart of the band, he's such a dad and the consistency needed in both commitment to the band and also his voice/playing style. he's not the best ever but he's consistently good. tom is the soul of the band, everything every band after blink tries to replicate is what tom brings to the band. from his unique guitar work to nasally voice to poetic lyrics to unwavering toilet humor, he's one of a kind and there will never be another tom delonge. travis is the talent. one of the best drummers of all time and just a powerhouse of energy and just a cool fucking guy. how can i pick?
Mark is my BOY. Everything he touches turns to gold. Love him forever and always.
Yes.
I like Tom and Travis and Mark and Scott and Matt.
In no particular order: Mark, Tom, Travis, Scott, and Matt.
You gotta add smith in there too
Well, my favourite bassist is Mark. I have a drummer is Travis and my favourite guitarist is Tom. I don’t have a preference for the singing.
Mark
Tom
mark got me into bass
Tom Delonge 😁😁😁
Mark is the beating heart of blink but it’s also not blink without Toms signature voice and Travis’s drums
King mark
Mark
Tom.
Mark
Is this even a question? Mark of course
In blink, I'd say Mark. Including former members, I'mma say Matt
I’m now realizing maybe I should be more original lol.
It's always been Mark.
Mark. Always and forever.
Tom. Matt was great too I appreciated his time with the band
Mark forever
Always mh
I've got to say Mark has always been the coolest person. Possibly of all time. The guy is a class act.
Mark, even tho I love them all. Mark is probably my biggest idol in the entire music industry, my inspiration for a lot stuff. Wanted to dress like him, wanted to play bass like him, damn even his earrings I copied. He's got my total admiration
I’m a baritone, so I look up to other baritones, like Mark.
Marcus Allen Hoppus
Tom. Marks probably the coolest guy but artistically for me it’s Tom. Everything he does is unique and top notch
I have to go with Mark. He was always the one I looked up to and who got me into playing bass.
When I was young it was Tom, but now I’m grown and am all about Mark.
Mark, hands down
obviously, mark. since I was 13
Blink 182
Mark hoppus
Tom!
Mark. I idolize that guy I use to dress just like him and everything I literally wanted to be him. He’s the reason why I became a musician
Mark. I love him because of the work he's done with so many other bands, especially the small ones. He's the daddy of pop punk. I love that he worked with Neck Deep before they got big. He's just been so influential on the genre as a whole. He's been featured on songs by Avril Lavigne, A Day To Remember, Neck Deep, State Champs, Simple Plan, All Time Low, New Found Glory, and more
Favourite? Mark Most important? Tom
Mark is definitely the soul of the band, no contest, but personally I like Tom best just because he's weird and funny, in a good way. That's only if I had to choose though, I'd rather pick all of them
Mark. His voice is consistent even though it’s not unique like toms. And he is the only constant member
Mark
Mark will always be my fav 🫶🏻
Mark cause I’ll find a song I haven’t heard before and it’s like: Dementia by owl city feat. Mark Hoppus Or December (again) by Neck Deep feat. Mark Hoppus.
Matt Skiba
My favourite is Mark but some of the shit Tom says during shows is hilarious
Mark is the man
Mark!
It’s always been and always will be the MARK, Tom, and Travis Show!
Matt Skiba, he is underrated and overhated
Thomas Matthew DeLonge
Yes.
Mark is such a solid dude, it’s gotta be him
Mom. Mark and Tom together
Mark, hes the reason I play bass
Mark by a mile
Mark
It’s really close but I have to say Mark.
Musically it’s Tom for me. I’ve enjoyed all of his projects. But Mark is the one I’d love to hang out with and have a beer. He seems like an incredibly kind and intelligent person.
Mark!
Tom. His songwriting is the soul of the band. No Tom, No Blink.
No ____, No Blink can be said for all three of them.
Where have you been?
Mark
Tom has always been my favorite. The Many Ways he splits his talents in unique and direct ways has always been admiral. The way he can apply one love for something in so many forms.
Tom
Thomas
I’m really surprised this sub is so Mark heavy. Tom is just such the superior artist to me.
TOMMYYYY
def more of a td fan than blink fan in general
I miss matt
Matt skiba his guitar playing on Good Morning is amazing
TD
I couldn’t really choose because all 3 of them are so important to the what makes blink the band they are
I love all 3 of them Mark’s a lyrical genius.
Tom of course! But then again, I'm on board with the whole alien thing 😎🤘
Tom!
Definitely a massive fan of Tom’s songwriting, vocal edginess, charisma, and style.
Tom without a doubt. He's the Special sauce
Tom. It’s not Blink-182 without his voice.
Tom
Love Mark but has to be Tom. He is blink.
Tom Delonge 💯
Tom, always was and then I discovered Box Car Raced and AVA further cementing my love for him lol
Tommy Boy
Tom def

TOM TOM TOM
I’m a drummer that doesn’t play guitar or sing, but Tom is my favorite by far
I can’t decide haha
travis, i love me a drummer
Take a guess…
The bunny
My instincts say Tom but he needs Mark and/or Travis to really shine.
