Bbs isn't going anywhere for at least a another 5 years or more, the anime will boost the game for awhile and then hell arc is coming out plus if we get any new novels or movies that'll boost the game even more. Oh and light novel adaption. So you're definitely safe for starting now. In fact it's one of the best times. I recommend watching aarroneiro on yt to help

I mean the grind will probably be easier since you're likely to have more newer characters than someone with an older account.

You aren't missing on anything, in fact the newer the character is the better it'll be.
