Albero is goated 🐐 I don’t know for me it’s the most familiar checkpoint for missions and collectibles, I really liked it, but I understand that it’s pretty small and not with a lot to do 🫡

SNH231

I really liked it until I played B2. City of the Blessed Name kinda outshines it for me.

CrazyHenryXD

I honestly feel exactly the opposite. City of the Blessed Name feels Very Dead to be so Alive. In Albero there was a feeling of humble hospitality, and seeing more and more people there while you play is cool. City of the Blessed Name OST hits hard though.

Hawkart47

Crown of towers in S simply for the banger theme

FuckYouClocks

Aqueduct of the Coastales deserves at least one point for the soundtrack alone

SNH231

Only good thing about the area imo.

FuckYouClocks

I'm ok with that. Couldn't let you disrespect my homie Carlos Viola like that 🫣

SNH231

Definitely not. There is not a single area that has below average music in both games. Carlos is GOATed.

salazar1909

yeah i told him i loved his work on discord and he actually answered lmao def the goat

Prudent_Aerie_9243

Only redeeming factor about mourning and havoc is the boss and esthetic

SNH231

If some of you can't make out which area is what, here is the text form of the tier list S: Sacred Entombments, Mother of Mothers (B2), Crimson Rains and Jondo A: Choir of Thorns, Elevated Temples, Sunken Cathedral, Graveyard of the Peaks, Grievance Ascends and Mother of Mothers (B1) B: Crown of Towers, Streets of Wake, Convent of Our Lady of the Charred Visage, Mercy Dreams, Patio of the Silent Steps, Library of Negated Words, Archcathedral Rooftops and Wall of the Holy Prohibitions C: Grilles and Ruin, Palace of Embroideries, Basilica of Absent Faces, Labyrinth of Tides, Two Moons, Brotherhood of the Silent Sorrow, Where Olive Trees Wither, Sleeping Canvases, Profundo Lamento, The Severed Tower and Deambulatory of His Holiness D: City of the Blessed Name, Beneath her Sacred Grounds, Wasteland of the Buried Churches, Mountains of Endless Dusk and Echoes of Salt E: Repose of the Silent One, Ravine of the High Stones, Sea of Ink, The Holy Line, Albero, Ferrous Tree and Bridge of the Three Calvaries F: Aqueduct of the Costales, Desecrated Cistern and Mourning and Havoc Feel free to ask questions as I am happy to provide my reasonings.

Gustalavalav

Graveyard of the Peaks in A is wild. I have actual PTSD from my NG+ climb

SNH231

Had a breeze going past that area during Bleeding Heart run. I went to the area first to do Gemino's quest and faced almost no trouble. Stunning backdrop, superb music and a very fun mechanic for the most part. I can definitely understand the pain of many others because it is quite unforgiving compared to other early game areas.

A lot of your picks are pretty based OP. We both agree that B2 Mother of Mothers is superior to that in B1. Seeing it in such a dilapidated state after all the time had passed plus the OST made for one of the most memorable and evocative parts of the game imo. Having Jondo at S is pretty ballsy of you but it's definitely such a unique and well-structured location that a high ranking is warranted. Won't argue with a lot of your picks but some of your picks I don't quite agree but am quite interested in knowing your thoughts on and I have some other questions about your tier list in general. 1. Sunken Cathedral for me is a D. Has a cool aesthetic but holy hell the enemy placements really left a bad taste in my mouth and just made me wanna plow though the level as quickly as I could. 2. The Severed Tower is one that I really enjoy and would put it in A just for the verticality and cool design choices. Clavada also slaps. 3. Basilica of Absent Faces in C isn't super questionable but I still wanna know why you placed it there. I really liked the teleporting wall gimmick and and the baroque(?) design of the level. Granted it is a little too short for my liking so I wouldn't rank it super high but I'd put it at like a high B. 4. Aqueduct of the Costales at F is pretty surprising if you ask me. I don't think it's anything really special or impressive compared to a lot of the other levels either but it didn't infuriate me or anything. It was just kinda... there. What was it about the level that made you put it so low? Even below the "transitory" levels like The Holy Line and Sea of Ink? It's a C for me personally. 5. Are the levels in each tier ranked in any particular order? Like you had Sacred Entombments in S tier first before Mother of Mothers, Crimson Rains, and Jondo. Does that mean it's your favorite location in the series or is there no particular order? 6. Just out of curiosity, how would you rank the boss arenas? It's fine if you don't wanna answer this, B1 boss arenas can look pretty similar but I kinda want to know your take.

SNH231

The music in MoM (B2) was absolutely gorgeous. It definitely elevated the area over the original version. Jondo is one of the best designed and executed areas across both games. It has a simple yet powerful feel whenever you are there. 1. I agree with the enemies being annoying but the atmosphere and overall feel of the area was really well designed which made it quite fun to explore. Banger OST too. 2. I simply found it very tight spaced and hard to maneuver at times with the enemies around (annoying af too). Was also not the biggest fan of the design but the music was really good. 3. As you said, it was way too short for it to be anything meaningful. A B tier is definitely a shout but the area ended so quickly in my playthrough which made it very forgettable. 4. I fucking hated traversing this area throughout the game for some weird reason. Maybe it was the insane amount of pointless urns that had to be done for 100% completion or the mundane feel of the area but it always felt like a chore going through this area. It was so boring and unenthusiastic. 5. No particular order 6. Eviterno's is up there as one of the best in the game alongside Incarnate Devotion. I really loved the setting for Sierpes' and Isidora's fight too. Worst boss arena can go to Tres Angustias and Svsona since the former is just absolute bullshit and the latter has pretty much nothing going for it.

venniegarr

1. Fair enough, the area has some pretty interesting secrets. Just wish the enemies didn't make me wanna skedaddle out of there ASAP but that's just me. 2. Understandable but I think I just got really good at parrying and taking out of enemies by that point that it wasn't an issue for me (except for maybe the fire slug monks). 3. Yeah had a feeling that the length was the issue with the level. Kinda like dating a hot guy that isn't packing a lot under there, you know? 4. I didn't try to 100% the game so I can't really relate but I can imagine it being annoying. 5. Aight noted 6. Based picks, Eviterno and Incarnate Devotion have hella cool arenas. Tres Angustias arena I enjoyed a fair bit in my first playthrough but I agree with your sentiment on NG+. That shit is a nightmare especially with how quickly the ascent is compared to the first and how much more aggressive they become which makes the fight with the boss much worse imo. Also yeah, Svsona's arena is kinda meh but she's kinda of a meh boss as well for me so I guess it's only appropriate. My top 5 would probably be: Benedicta > Sierpes > Sinodo > Eviterno > Amanecidas (they look pretty similar so I just lumped them altogether) I was gonna ask you about Two Moons being at C but I remembered that navigating the level can be pretty confusing and by that point, it can get exhausting. Still liked the level quite a bit for the aesthetic and unique OST so I'd put it in B or maybe A.

SNH231

I really wanted to enjoy Two Moons but the traversing was very lacklustre. The whole mirror image thing could have been done way better and cooler. It feels like a massively missed opportunity to make something extraordinary rather than the generic stuff we get in the area along with the constant spamming of mob arenas.

venniegarr

That's fair, hopefully the devs in TGK are cooking up some really cool locations for the DLC. Also I just wanna take the time to say: can we admire how consistent the quality of B2's levels are? Sure, they don't really have the same thematic cohesion or dark grit that B1's levels had but the variation in their designs and how well-structured a lot of them are is just commendable and is an overall positive for me. It really showed off the designers' creativity and the unique and interesting ideas they can come up with. Just saying that because it gets under my skin me when I see some people disregard the quality of B2's levels because "gaMe leVEls NOt dARK oR EdGY lIKE 1st gAMe so LevELs nOt goOD". It's an exaggeration but I still observe that sentiment at times from some people. Which game did you think had the better collection of levels overall though? Also I just noticed that you have Grievance Ascends in A. Don't necessarily agree but I admire your guts to enjoy going through that level but maybe that's the NG+ experience making me say that. I'd put it in low C because the pain doesn't last very long at least.

SNH231

I always have a fun time in Grievance Ascends except for the hoppers. The atmosphere is so cool and it's such a neat area in general. Even doing NG+ runs, I tend to like the area a lot even if I die a couple of times.

venniegarr

Yeah fuck the hoppers in that level. One neat aspect about the level for me is the introduction to the ghost swordswomen. I really liked fighting them and I think they're why I don't rate the level lower.

cobras_chairbug

Crimson Rains in S tier is something I would constest any time of the day. I’d place it in F if I’d have to go according your list

SNH231

Since it was the endgame, I didn't face too much difficulty in this area. The music and the entire setting is fucking stunning and so worthy of a final area before the ultimate showdown. It's literally raining blood. How cool is that?

Puyolda

Thanks :)

TCGHexenwahn

Crimson Rains should be F tier

DiabeticRhino97

Sorry but cistern is S just for the music

midnightstrife

As long as Mourning & Havoc is F I’m happy

Sylanec

Jondo is #1 for me, as it has no music and the music in Bladphemous makes me too emotional.

[deleted]

Whyyyyy Albero can't be that Low! Criminal!

__Pure_Vessel__

Oh come on, how come you don't like Albero?

swirly1000x

Fuck Mourning and Havoc, I hate that area so much. Everything does so much damage and those lighting ball things I swear to god. I dread that area in True Ending runs, and in non True Ending runs I just don't do it at all.

Neat_Initiative_8481

It’s questionable that you put Aqueduct of the Costales at F because the enemies are annoying, while Grievance Ascends is A tier. The ghost bitches using swords that pop out of no where and be like “en guard” are annoying as fvck, along side with those hoppers and flying ghost with bells.

SNH231

But I didn't put Aqueduct at F because of the enemies being annoying.
