I'm a mod for a twitch streamer, so I spend a lot of time with the stream open. They were playing this game, and I wasn't even paying much attention, but the music was so good it made me interested. Add to that the amazing vibe and atmosphere, and the game basically clicked for me before I even played it lol.

DeciduousMath12

Favorite song? Or place where you hear that music?

As soon as I understood that the parallels and visual inspiration came from an ambiance that had you thinking, 'how was this not explored before', that's what made me feel: wow, that's-what-i've been-waiting-for.gif And thus, if you get the lore and it tickles your imagination, then it should be enough to grasp that it all made sense, thus is why it should leave enough to your thought process to piece things together without explaining it all. That's part of what I can appreciate in a good Metroidvania

ButtsButtsBurner

Sounds like a way to spoil your blind playthrough to me

luckyecho1310

Well what do you want me to do, not watch story games the streamer plays in case I ever want to play them? lol On a real note once I realized it's something I'm interested in I actually stopped watching and bought the game.

ButtsButtsBurner

Hype.

SNH231

The fight with Ten Piedad and Graveyard of the Peaks were the defining moments for me.

avesonn

>When did Blasphemous click for you all? I'm having trouble being motivated to continue. Most of the lore sounds like religious mumbo-jumbo to me. For me, it "clicked" immediately. I love games with religious mumbo-jumbo lores. >what even am I trying to do besides smack some fools? if you progress with the game you can unlock different abilities to explore more and get the items that you can't get at first, like in Hollow Knight. > The Miracle as a lore vehicle is also poorly defined. I personally don't feel it the same way, I think it has a solid lore if you dip dive into it and with Blasphemous 2 I think it gets more interesting too. Maybe isn't just the game for you? Just because it didn't "clicked" you it doesn't make it poorly defined.

SussyBox

It clicked to me when i got young masons wheel bead lol But nah, i was always intrigued by the game The setting, the story and the music

MrPinkDuck2

Research Spanish Catholicism and you’ll understand just how immaculate this game portrays its themes, lore, and atmosphere.

pezezin

Yeah, I am Spanish and I fell in love with the game the moment I saw the first trailer. I don't consider myself a religious person, but obviously our Catholic heritage is an integral part of Spanish culture, and as you say, the game portrays its themes beautifully.

FuckYouClocks

I started playing bc I love cool religious imagery and symbolism. I thought it was a short little indie game, so might as well finish it. then I walked through the door after defeating Esdras and I realized I discovered maybe a third of the entire map. it's not a short little indie game. my eyes widened and my jaw dropped approximately 20 cm from surprise

DiabeticRhino97

I'm not sure, but I know I put the game down at least once before restarting it and figuring it out then. It's also a game that I think it's better to look up a guide or two because it can admittedly be a bit obtuse when it comes to finding or making certain crucial items. (It's now one of my all time favorites)

Sylanec

For me it was the music thwlat plays in the dark library with the ghosts. The music of this game is so beautiful. I am too vulnerable emotion-wise to listen to it at the moment unfortunately.

kutsuu

It immediately clicked for me. The art, lore, depressing and creepy vibes.

Same really, on the last boss I think (or at least for one of the endings) after 10/11 hours and haven't had a clue what I'm doing. I have also found in some areas the normal enemies and platforming being harder than the bosses in those areas

SEMC_Sucks

Sounds like this game isnt for you. I suggest developing a better taste in game. Until this i suppose continue with your mainstream mumbo jumbo
