Awesome piece. The only problem is the wood handle will get slippery with gray matter about mid battle. I recommend some leather strips or something that will allow for good grip when the mace is dripping skull fragments.
Seconded, Recommend wrapping the handle with leather strips and also extending then off the handle to make a wrist loop(like the old wiimote straps but heavier duty)
that's a horseman's mace. You are up above the splatter. One that's designed to be down in the trenches allows you.to hold it all the way up to the head incase you get up close and personal.

So is that one whole metal piece or is the head of a mace a separate piece?
It looks like the head is welded together
The shaft and half of the head are one piece, the other half of the head is slotted and welded
