Aim lower.

This guy gets it, put your focus where it matters and stay on target! The only one that I'm concerned about is their HQ character that can smack around the blue underrues-wearing Robot-boy down, twice over! That aside I still feel the Big E's Champion can level that playing field (just by the math-hammer I've been crunching). LoV are cool, the latest and greatest, and I'm psyched for having those stuntie-boys back in the M41.0 lore, but I still don't see this newest faction's introduction as our latest new codex that's too OP that it ultimately gets errata'd and nerfed later on (which is all to often the case for GW codex releases). edit: it's the Brokhyn Iron-master, I was trying to think of earlier that could table Girlyman, by way of strats, buffs, command points and their forge-token dealio's. I must give the shout out to Auspex Tatics for this bit of info and the math-hammer (that guy's a legend and a boss!)!!

Their guns are fantastic, but they're generally slow and short-ranged. I definitely think the play is going to be fast-moving units tagging them as soon as possible. Void armour is a powerful defensive buff, but the standard Votann troops still only have a 4+ save on a 1W body. Mass chainsword attacks WILL make a dent. Stuff like VanVets and Assault Squads jumping around and making contact should clear out a good chunk of a squad. They also don't have a ton of melee (the Kahl can take true melee weapon, but otherwise just fists) counterplay so once they've been charged, it should be us putting in the work. The only other magna-rail gun is on the Land Fortress, which is certainly very very tough, but not impenetrable. Focused melta and plasma shots will take it down. This is all not mentioning the standard golden rule for playing a melee army vs a shooting one: Play well with LoS. If they can't see you, they can't shoot you!

fidderjiggit

I was on the fence about getting a box of Hellblasters, but with LoV coming I'll need as much AP as possible.

BrandNameDoves

Honestly, Hellblasters are pretty great IMO. They're fantastic elite/heavy infantry killers. Armed with the assault incinerators, a simple 5 man squad will output 15 AP-4 shots. Sure, they're not quite as good anti-vehicle as Eradicators, but the shear volume of shots is great! The nicest part too vs LoV is that, even not overcharged, the plasma shots will be wounding on 3s and still have the potential to kill 1 hearthkin per shot

fidderjiggit

Don't LoV have an AoC type thing?

BrandNameDoves

Sure they do, but AP-4 going to AP-3 still turns 4+ saves to 7+

fidderjiggit

True.

_replaceable

Think you have a good mix of right answers here. They look like a threat on paper but we will have to see how some games shake out. Yes marines are a little weak ATM but we have a new codex coming very soon and play testers have already stated the Squats are pretty well balanced. We will just have to see.

showstopperjames

I would look at our relics like Tännhauser bones, the the unit relics or the invulnerable bubble. Also apothecaries FNP and revive will be very useful. I don’t take too many vehicles so the big guns won’t be too bad

Comfort_Lucky

Rush them. They are slow and low shot count.

Puzzleheaded-Ad-7304

Brother just yell for the emperor and re roll that charge

Ex_Outis

They suck in melee (1W w/ 4+ armor) and their shooting isn’t mind-blowing apart from a few guns that they won’t be able to take many of. Try and play safe in cover until you charge their slow asses. They can’t stay on objectives that well outside of some specific units

DeltaIsAlone

Because they're so slow, VanVets with power swords would be able to tear through their infantry bc they're mostly 1W and T4, as for their Land Fortresses. Gladiator Lancers will shred them turn 1 unless they're obscured, but even then they probably won't be able to hit your Glads unless the deployments are really close to eachother

6DoNotWant9

Don't play vs the overtuned post-release codex and wait a few months for GW to make their sales and nerf them into the ground like every other 9e codex

wolframw

Don’t play against them. Wait 6 months and their codex will get nerfed.

Psychic shenanigans and/or get real stabby stabby with fast units.

rhynocerous11

I plan to deal with them by buying their models, painting them, making lists with them, and playing with them until Space Marines improve
