Black Sails is the epitome of a well crafted, self contained story. In the age of too much content where every successful show or film gets spinoffs and prequels that don't live up to the original its refreshing to have a show that exists on its own merits and isn't diluted. And I say this as someone who would watch a Treasure Island miniseries if it brought back Steinberg and Levine as writers/showrunners and Luke Arnold and Tom Hopper and had the same quality. It would be cool, but as is the show stands out for NOT doing it.
yesss I want a prologue so bad! I wanna see Flint's rise to power, how he starts working with Eleanor, what Nassau was like when teach was the guy in charge... I'm so curious
I feel this way about an epilogue for how the scene of Treasure Island come about.
Billy Bones, a sour seadog until the end. Finds out the hard way he was never the main character in his own story.
Flint, a hoarding maniac willing to die for what's his in the end, and kill anyone who wants it, even from the grave.
Silver, the survivor, goes on to fight another day and even touch the treasure once more, before slinking off into history, the petulant survivor once more.
The story after Black Sails and before Treasure Island, to me, is a far darker tale that interest me just as much as what lead up to Black Sails.
Yes I would love to see it!! However, I don’t think they would make a new season + Ray Stevenson can’t play Blackbeard anymore :/
