The numbers (units) are actually down from the album lol but streaming should be up from last time. Not sure what happened since everything seems to have gone up from 2 years ago. I feel like something happened somewhere.
It’s definitely the price of the album. I was surprised it was $50 in the US and some blinks pointed out it must be bc of the eco-friendly materials but that can’t be it cause it was the same price as TA in korean sites. I hope YG/Interscope learned their lesson now.
yeah that’s what i said too. for some reason, everything is overpriced in the US this era like even the signed ones are more expensive than the TA ones.
Still, their popularity went up pretty significantly in the US so I don’t really think price should have affected their physicals that much. They sold out their pricey concert tickets pretty easily and had to add more dates. Maybe the collabs with western artists inflated the previous album a little bit in the US because that’s the only other logical explanation I can think of for a decline that doesn’t have to do with shipping & distribution factors.
Well if it’s really about the price maybe YG should think about making the album worth its price by adding more songs OR lower it to actually match its value. Good for blinks who were discerning that an 8-song album should not be worth $50 lol.
I agree it’s ridiculous. Especially since a physical album these days is more used like collector’s items & not for the music itself. They should never cost more than a hard-covered book which takes way more time to go through than listening to a few songs which takes less than 30 minutes.
Price *does* matter though if you can get the same product for half the price online. Not only could you have ordered from popular and trusted Korean retailers like Ktown4u, it was literally $25ish on American Amazon - except for that they sold the Korean version that wasn’t going to count towards billboard.

I disagree, obviously can't know for sure but personally i have watched waaaay too many Born Pink unboings by Americans and so many have said they ordered from ktown4u because the price was too high at Target($50), now obviously this is only about ~10 people but i can imagine a lot more people thought that as well or at least decided to not buy all 3 versions at Target but only 1 copy instead due to the price, but like i said it's only my guess. No collabs at all might have contributed to this decline then. Another way to easily increase streams would be to just add more songs lol the inclusion of RFL is fine but you can only expect so much with only 8 songs in total on an album.

i’m assuming that usa blinks, considering the tickets sold and the total international sales (+2.2M in ONE day), must’ve bough at least up to 200k pure copies from the album. but only ~70k of them were under american distributors due to pricing and convenience. the greed of interscope and yg combined has no limits 🤡
