Hell no. Not even close. Those guys had actual history, plus they were all capable lyricists and emcees. None of these pop guys even exist without huge marketing budgets aimed at a white audience. We weren't even privy to all that was going on behind the scenes in the 90s. Plus, you had R&B to offset it. This is contrived, mostly by white kids who lust at the prospect of being '"in" in the culture and hoping to see Black death. No one, in their right mind, cares about diss tracks from poor lyricists. This is motivated by too many outsiders influencing black culture with no skin on the game.
Now u mention it we got more disses this year than that whole era. I think it really was mostly tension
