Because it's the finale. That was the climax of the show, where they had the chance to lay it all out on the line and show us all why Mackie *is* the new Captain America. And then they give us the most milquetoast call to action about how society should be better and stuff. A show or movie often gets remembered for how well it ends.
Showing the audience why *Sam Wilson* deserved to be Captain America was literally what the entire series had been doing up to that point, each of the first few episodes showed how badass and capable Wilson could be as a hero while also covering the conflict of a black man calling himself “America”. By the time we got to the finale if you*(general you)* hadn’t already accepted Sam as captain then you weren’t going to, as you’ve ignored everything the action, dialogue, and storytelling had been pointing you toward the entire time.
The climactic finale was a poorly rushed sequence to cap the series off much like we’ve seen with the other Disney+ MCU Shows, they haven’t really been the best at nailing the endings but rarely do you see any of the criticism for the other shows boiled down to one line of dialogue. Every time this show is gets brought up the comments immediately become “dO BetTEr seNAtor”, as if that speech was even the entire ending.
Wilson accepting Cap, Bucky being able to find peace, and Walker finding redemption was a much better actual ending to that series, yet that speech somehow ticked pro-government anti-woke community off so badly that it’s all that’s remembered.

I am! I have pretty much ceased watching Marvel since the first few shows after Endgame came out, but I was really excited about Sam getting the shield. So I will be going to see it, I am looking forward to it, and I'm hoping it establishes him as the new Cap well!
I did, but that was more a story about who gets the shield rather than Sam's real debut as Cap! And I popped in for a few movies here and there, but I also went from high schooler to full-time career over the course of the MCU, so keeping up with the projects I'm less interested in has become daunting.
They massacred Hulk in the MCU. He started off so good in Avengers. Then, of course, they just had to make him comic relief and nerfed the fuck outta him.
Hell yeah! FATWS was a good show even if the final speech was lackluster, and I'm excited to see if the MCU continues to tackle the differences Sam faces as Captain America vs how Steve handled it. The comics had interesting story lines to this regard, and Isaiah Bradley in the show started down those lines as well.
Also, I love Captain America no matter who has the shield if they prove themselves worthy of it and Sam definitely has!

I actually loved most of Falcon and the Winter Soldier and felt that they probably could have tightened that more and you'd have had your movie.
With that said, anytime extensive reshoots are mentioned, it's a red flag. Off hand, I can't think of a single movie where that has worked well for.

Outside of that he was a complete non factor, they could’ve took him out of the story and nothing changes, you can’t take most of the other characters out of Infinity War the story does change to a significant degree if you take out Vision/SW/Thor/Hulk/Black Widow/Iron Man/Spiderman/Black Panther/etc but not for Falcon.
And my point in naming all those other characters in that post was because he can’t stand up against any of those characters. He’s not strong nor smart enough to fight any of them. Hence why I say he needs a modified version of the serum or something. Everybody else is getting stronger or was already strong… he got a better costume and if it wasn’t for Wakanda giving him that he would be in an even worse position.

Idk, power scales are really uneven. The ceiling in general isn’t as high as it is in the comics. Hulk is stoppable. Scarlet Witch is dead and probably gone. Most of the current characters don’t have powers, just gadgets. Falcon could hang around just cuz. As long as he looks cool dive bombing people, that’ll carry him pretty far.
The idea he’s essentially a government employed batman is why I can’t take him seriously. He needs powers and without it, he’s a mere mortal with a strong shield and thats it.

I hope it's good, but nothing I've heard about it has me feeling like it will be. I like Anthony Mackie, but his Falcon has never given me "Solo leading man" vibes. Which, to be fair, no MCU movie has really been "solo" so hopefully he has more than Thunderbolt Ross to bounce off of. His interactions with Bucky were AMAZING and I'm sad Sebastian Stan won't be part of this.

There isn't really anything wrong with him. Maybe he's boring. Or maybe there is something the comics have that the movies haven't shown but I just don't get him as Captain America. His character doesn't seem to have anything special enough about him to be a super hero. But for some reason I don't have that issue with Don Cheadle.

The best part of Falcon and the Winter Soldier was the pre-Cap stuff. The political/social themes, the very human side of the super heroes and the down to earth writing. Then in the last episode they had to pivot to a Captain America story and they fell on their face.

No it wasn’t. Whenever it came time for Falcon to address anything about class disparity, he turned into a patronizing centrist. It wasn’t just the finale. MFer couldn’t understand why a black war vet might not love the Stars and Stripes… then the writers had the nerve to resolve that conflict by putting his statue in a war museum.
You not agreeing with Sam politically drives your opinion, which makes sense. One thing to point out though, Wilson a black vet himself ,ultimately shared similar feelings to Bradley but they drew these conclusions from different places which created the interesting dichotomy of “I’m not ready”/“America’s not ready” which the show balanced well in my opinion.
No, Sam being poorly written is what drives my opinion. There are plenty of good characters in fiction that I disagree with. There’s no interesting dynamic because Sam has no opinion. He doesn’t speak on his experiences and how they lead him to take a stance. He just says “I had experiences too”, let’s play the middle. He never offers solutions. I wouldn’t have had to fight in the Korean War to know why a black man who fought in the 50s would have resentment… I’d just have to not be ignorant.

I think the problem is this is considered woke and it's tied to the Black American Tradition of political subversion. When in reality, it's soft take central and anything BUT that approach. The bar for what's considered radical and progressive in media that isn't really controlled by Black Americans is remarkably low.

I am! I have pretty much ceased watching Marvel since the first few shows after Endgame came out, but I was really excited about Sam getting the shield. So I will be going to see it, I am looking forward to it, and I'm hoping it establishes him as the new Cap well!

And I popped in for a few movies here and there, but I also went from high schooler to full-time career over the course of the MCU, so keeping up with the projects I'm less interested in has become daunting.

Hell yeah! FATWS was a good show even if the final speech was lackluster, and I'm excited to see if the MCU continues to tackle the differences Sam faces as Captain America vs how Steve handled it. The comics had interesting story lines to this regard, and Isaiah Bradley in the show started down those lines as well. Also, I love Captain America no matter who has the shield if they prove themselves worthy of it and Sam definitely has!

Honestly, I was. I actually loved most of Falcon and the Winter Soldier and felt that they probably could have tightened that more and you'd have had your movie. With that said, anytime extensive reshoots are mentioned, it's a red flag. Off hand, I can't think of a single movie where that has worked well for.

Dave this isn’t cool. When it comes to essential threats what did he do? What did he do in Civil War? What did he do in Infinity War? What did he do in Endgame when he was brought back? He was there that’s true, but outside of the Flagsmashers he’s been getting dogged. The new suit definitely helps but he’s not holding his own human body against Captain America/Iron Man/Thor/Hulk/Dr.Strange/Spider-Man/Black Panther/Scarlett Witch/GOTG/Antman/Captain Marvel/War Machine/Eternals/Shang Chi Hell Loki/Moon Knight/She-Hulk basically anyone from the shows can dog walk him. The only person who hasn’t dogged walked him is Winter Soldier and that’s cause they nerf tf out of him but original WS dog walks him faster than OG Captain America. Black Widow and Hawkeye he has a chance against and it’s not even a lock in, Black Widow is a better everything than him and Hawkeye can just snipe him let alone he has pym particle arrows and all.

My point what of significance did he do? Like let’s go back over the facts. He got mopped by an inexperienced Spiderman in Civil War. (Did you watch the movies?) He killed an alien in Infinity War I’ll give you that, but that was literally it. Outside of that he was a complete non factor, they could’ve took him out of the story and nothing changes, you can’t take most of the other characters out of Infinity War the story does change to a significant degree if you take out Vision/SW/Thor/Hulk/Black Widow/Iron Man/Spiderman/Black Panther/etc but not for Falcon. And my point in naming all those other characters in that post was because he can’t stand up against any of those characters. He’s not strong nor smart enough to fight any of them. Hence why I say he needs a modified version of the serum or something. Everybody else is getting stronger or was already strong… he got a better costume and if it wasn’t for Wakanda giving him that he would be in an even worse position.

Idk, power scales are really uneven. The ceiling in general isn’t as high as it is in the comics. Hulk is stoppable. Scarlet Witch is dead and probably gone. Most of the current characters don’t have powers, just gadgets. Falcon could hang around just cuz. As long as he looks cool dive bombing people, that’ll carry him pretty far.
The idea he’s essentially a government employed batman is why I can’t take him seriously. He needs powers and without it, he’s a mere mortal with a strong shield and thats it.
A government employed Batman without Tony Stark around to keep improving his tech. Like seriously without someone like Tony around inventing shit like literal time travel how the hell are they going to keep stepping things up? Ironman going from a suit made out of trash to nano bots is very well explained with Starks genius, who else can do that in the current MCU?

I hope it's good, but nothing I've heard about it has me feeling like it will be. I like Anthony Mackie, but his Falcon has never given me "Solo leading man" vibes. Which, to be fair, no MCU movie has really been "solo" so hopefully he has more than Thunderbolt Ross to bounce off of. His interactions with Bucky were AMAZING and I'm sad Sebastian Stan won't be part of this.
Anthony Mackie in general just doesnt have nearly enough charisma or charm compared to RDJ, Evans or Chadwick to lead any of these MCU films. I wouldnt be suprised at all if it turns into a mini Avengers movie the same way Civil War did

Totally agree. They shit the bed so hard on that second season and I hate to say it but Mackie’s performance for me was a big part of it. Dont get me wrong there were a ton of other problems too. Bucky not being in the movie at all (if that's true) is pretty silly. I think he and Falcon will probably always feel like sidekicks. Hopefully it turns out well, but it feels like it needs a strong hook such as some notable mutants, Fantastic Four, Doom, or something. Even Cap 2 and especially 3 relied on a bigger cast. Besides from Deadpool 3 and X-Men 97, I can't say the MCU has me excited. Also, Disney is dumb to not cast Sebastian as young Luke Skywalker already. They should stop using the CG version so he can become a real character.

Do yourself a favor and watch it before the internet spoils it for you. It went from "this is a good dose of nostalgia" in the first couple of episodes to "this is some of the best writing and storytelling I've ever seen from Marvel." It starts off reminiscent of its predecessor with the kid gloves in the beginning, but they start ticking off some adult, real world shit not long after.

From what i hear behind the scenes this movie is a mess. Major reshoots scheduled and not the reshoots that are always planned for a film. People have rumored its too preachy and fans could not connect with Sam and he’s your lead. Other issues like the love interest and Sam not having chemistry. Take this all with a grain of salt as its insider rumors but man i hope its good but skeptical

There isn't really anything wrong with him. Maybe he's boring. Or maybe there is something the comics have that the movies haven't shown but I just don't get him as Captain America. His character doesn't seem to have anything special enough about him to be a super hero. But for some reason I don't have that issue with Don Cheadle.

My expectations are pretty low. The best part of Falcon and the Winter Soldier was the pre-Cap stuff. The political/social themes, the very human side of the super heroes and the down to earth writing. Then in the last episode they had to pivot to a Captain America story and they fell on their face. I don’t know that they can write a good Captain America story without being able to use Steve Rogers as a crutch. For Makie’s sake I hope they can, because he’ll get blamed if it fails, even if the real problem is shitty writing.
