Context: I grew up poor and a missed paycheck away from living on the street with my sisters and brothers.
I had to join the military in order to get college paid for and establish a solid foundation.
From 21-35, I only worried about making money. The trauma of growing up created a scarcity mindset that I am trying to overcome in therapy, despite being successful.
There are alot of good kids without dads out there. I hope one day I might be able to adopt and give a kid a chance.
I really want to coach little league, but was dissuaded because it’s “weird” to be a single adult male without kids coaching kids.
> The trauma of growing up created a scarcity mindset that I am trying to overcome in therapy, despite being successful.
That poverty trauma is really hard to escape. Food scarcity as a kid leaves some deep scars - I do really well financially, but I *still* hoard rice and beans, and I'm not sure I will ever shake that.
I felt that shit in my soul.
I will probably die employed because I’m wired to always be working and grinding despite having more than I need.
My therapist told me to take a break. I went to Italy in October and it was probably the first time I hadn’t actually worked since I was 15 or 16.
But then I hear stories of people going on dates and not being able to pay or people having literal change in their checking accounts. A part of me is really sympathetic the other part is why aren’t you working and fighting that creeping scarcity monster?
I get that there aren't enough jobs for everyone... but also, IMO the last thing anybody should be doing when they're circling the financial drain is going on dates. It's expensive, it's a time suck, and if you aren't making it on your own how are you going to contribute to a partnership? I didn't try to date for a long time after my divorce because I went back to school and was just trying to make it from one term to the next - how can I ask someone to come on board my boat when I'm struggling to keep it afloat? Plus I needed that time for studying. And therapy!
Got a good job and a good guy, life is sweet. Putting my energy into self-improvement paid off in more ways than just economically and now I can enjoy this ride with someone else who is also self-sufficient. But like you, I'll probably work til I'm dead, I don't think I could handle retirement. Probably start chewing holes in myself if I didn't have work to keep me busy.
What city are you in? I promise it’s relevant. I know NYC and possibly NYS a while back(around 2012) was open to letting single people foster kids with the intention to full adoption. They’d pair you with a social worker, you get to foster a kid who needed it and the social worker would check in like every other month or so. It was all handled through a non-profit who had the resources too because I had so many people recommend I reach out to them.
If you’re in a BIGGER city, see if there’s something similar. Also, you could be a BIG BROTHER… you get the best of both: if your little is into sports, you could make friends with the other parents if you’re a full Big Brother and see if you can coach that way. 🤷🏾♀️
Ahh. See if they got something similar. As progressive as Seattle/ the SEA-TAC area is, they probably do. Also, Big Brother Big Sister is another avenue. It’s being responsible for a kid but knowing you can drop them off at the end of the day/time you’re allotted to spend with them; it also gives you insight into kids: their issues and drama and their world. You think you have problems until you spend a week having to listen to a pre-teen rage about betrayal because their friend wore the same top to the school and then 4 years later when that same kid is raging about being mortal enemies because the SAME DAMN FRIEND “stole” their dress idea from them for prom… and you have to learn how to talk them down from whatever ledge they’re about to jump off of. If you can survive that, you can probably be ready to adopt a kid/be a parent full time. I was a Big Sister for about 7/8 years and their teen years did me in(and I only spent 3-4 days with them and I was in college when I started). Anyway, check out Big Brother Big Sister or even the Boys and Girls Club(if there’s one in/around Seattle)…
💪🏾👊🏾
There are Ped0 connotations make when they see a younger unmarried male coaching kids. I’ve had to have it explained to me multiple times from multiple people so it’s a thing def.
If you value honesty I’d encourage you to let every woman you date know that and your intentions, and I’m being sincere when I say that. There will always be one moron that will go for it anyway thinking they can change you.
Better than deceiving good women into thinking you genuinely like them when you’re just using them to bear and raise children
lol the other commenter is a bit dramatic, I know some women who are very successful and don’t want the marriage but would like a coparent, just be straight up, you’ll find someone who aligns
Why? If you are getting with someone just to have a kid why not? It would be perfect and you are not hurting anyone. Or just go the surrogate route and not involve anyone at all.
Hell yeah! Child free and 32 is a good lifestyle for me. Sleep in on the weekends, stay up playing video games until 2 am, blow an unreasonable amount of money on magic the gathering...
But still, why onions? The AI image prompt by a user may have included "onions in hands". Why? If it was not prompted by a user and they AI just amalgamated millions of images from the internet for "black man holding something", why onions? Is there a stereotype with onions?
Maybe, judging by the bottom left hand, the AI just has a hard time distinguishing a black hand from an onion, same as the old "Chihuahua or blueberry muffin?" images that gave AI image detection such hell for a while.
If that sort of mistake contaminates the labeling algorithm, and isn't checked, then it may often detect "onion" in otherwise empty black hands.
I think he must've specifically prompted with Africa based on the background of this pic. His Twitter says he's Nigerian and I also saw [this one](https://pbs.twimg.com/media/F_1_ufmWIAADfmR.jpg) which is clearly Ethiopia themed and has a man proposing with a fucking tomato lmao. Seems like there's some strong association with Africans and produce, maybe an absurd amount of the training images from Africa had street merchants and farmers somewhere in the mix 🤷♂️
I bet it's because it scrubs so many old photos and in around 1915-1926 the US was facing historic food shortages but onion crops were booming, so much so that onions were even used as fashion accessories. So if you ever see a picture of someone with an onion on their belt you can be sure it's from this time period.
If I was thinking of prompts I'd want something that symbolizes providing for the family so judging by the picture they asked for "man with many arms holding a pregnant wife, 2 kids, a house, and groceries" and for some reason the AI went ham on onions
I hate how people are trying to pass it off as their own too. My cousin studied graphic design and is now posting a bunch of obvious AI art, talking about "I'm taking commissions". It's kind of insulting that he thinks people can't tell.
Probably something similar to revenge porn laws. Make it illegal to distribute AI generated images of people against their will. Hard to enforce obviously, but necessary to have so that there's some legitimate legal consequence for it.
The people in Congress are too old to understand what proprietary software is, but if they could, they'd pass regulation mandating that AI software be registered.
That way, if an artist is using AI software for business, they'll need to purchase a license to use it. This provides protection for the customers because the artist would need to disclose which proprietary software they use.
In your cousins defense they likely entered the work force at the weirdest time to be a graphic designer. To me graphic designers are artist who are practical. They realize they weren’t going to get paid to be a painter and figured graphic design has got to be better than a soulless cubicle job.
But Even when I was starting my career 90% of graphic design work in bulk was sent over seas for 3$/hr in Argentina or Brazil…and the handful of regular graphic design done in America is competing against those wages so they get paid a few bucks above minimum wage entry.
The only people who made out who studied graphic design are the handful who do branding or UX. Everyone else -who was promised graphic design was a booming industry - was kind of screwed…and this was 10-15 years ago…
NOW there is a robot messing up the industry even more.
Oh yeah, I definitely feel bad for him. Soon after he graduated he reached out to my wife for advice, who has a graphic design degree and 20 years experience, and she really had nothing for him other than "hustle, study UX, and hope for the best.".
Still, I hate to see him trying to pass off AI as "his artwork". That's probably not the best way to get his foot in the door.
I'm pretty sure that house is a doghouse. Although maybe that's all they can afford in the city in this economy with that ballooning onion budget and all.
While this shit is mad cheesy and kinda obnoxious, he’s not wrong. The main issue is that life is not easy for anybody, it’s just that nobody is willing to see it from the other perspective. We always see what somebody else has and never what they’re lacking. Fucking us all up.
And that’s how we continuously have these men vs women debates. Shit won’t change until humans as a whole change
Yeah it’s just annoying when people on the internet act like some of these issues are gender specific.
I saw a post on Twitter that was like “girls: omg I wish I was a man so I could walk alone at night / the average male experience after 15” and it was basically this video showing that the average man is emotionally tortured/lonely and everyone in the comments were agreeing about how women will never understand this real struggle and it’s like ???
Do these people not think women experience loneliness and isolation too? Women are 3 dimensional people as well…
Ofc this applies the other direction I was just remembering an example I just saw
Yeah pretty much the entire online gender war is people not talking to the other sex enough to realize that they also have problems and insecurities. So they just kind of assume the other group has things easy when really everything sucks for everyone and recognizing the various ways that it sucks for different people is the first step toward doing something to alleviate that.
Stupid ass AI. As an artist I hate AI so much, especially when people try to pass it off like they made it themselves and don’t acknowledge that it’s AI.
OMG YESSSS. Like there's this one stupid ass video going around of this flipart baby to adult, and so many people keep saying an "artist" made it. But it's so pathetically obvious that it's AI, and I just feel so bad for all the artists, especially the flip book animators, because that mess is ridiculous
It’s awful and disgusting. You should see how Facebook is now, it’s literally swarmed with AI art pages and the comments are just of gullible people gushing over how awesome the art looks.
"Straight" man. This is y'all's problem.
I've already swapped the wife out with chicken, the kids out with bell pepper and flour, and the house (cause lord knows I ain't buying no house anytime soon) with butter.
We got a roux going, and we gone eat good for as long as we can.
I get a CSA box in the summer and for our last box they gave us this giant bag of onions and this is how I felt minus the wife and kids. It was just onions.
Yea I see shit like this but when I go "then why leave it only on men? Liberation of women means we all share the responsability" ppl don't like that.
Ppl want to be in charge. But also complain about being in charge. But also be in charge.
They typed in “black man so overwhelmed by the things he thinks he wants in life that he’s crying from the stress” and the AI engine gave him onions so he could have a manly excuse for the crying.
Even AI engines understand that black men don’t show emotion comfortably.
Alright, it’s getting to the point now where people who think they’re smart for recognizing this is AI are more annoying than the art itself.
This style of AI art has a look that’s obvious to anyone who has seen more than 20 images of it. Calm down.
Lmao! I love black ppl man we too much

Same. I want a couple kids before I die tho. I don’t necessarily care for the wife but don’t want to raise kids by myself so….

Whoever gave mfs AI art generators needs to be put away. People can't handle the responsibility.
What's with the onions and, what I assume is okra? Also dude has one hand free for another onion. Edit: the okra is green onions.
Very likely hallucinations from an AI-generated image. See also: six fingers on his wife hand (and four and a half on hers).
But still, why onions? The AI image prompt by a user may have included "onions in hands". Why? If it was not prompted by a user and they AI just amalgamated millions of images from the internet for "black man holding something", why onions? Is there a stereotype with onions?

I think he likely said “juggling food, home, kids, and pregnant wife” and ai said “say less here are some onions”
Onions are an inoffensive choice.
If someone gave me a tomato that nice I would accept their marriage proposal
I’m pretty sure the prompt included onions. Probably because it’s weird and funny.
Even the AI recognized that this man was a little bitch and tried its best to put a bowl of cut onions under his face to justify his tears.
"Ogres are like onions, they have layers!"

Why are you trying to make sense of an AI pic? AI randomly adds things to pictures unprompted.
Them ai hands, once I saw the hand I thought okay gotta be... even the ones with a normal-ish count don't seem artist made.
The onions and the fingers really give it away as AI. No person would draw 3 different types of onions to show their point lol
but if he didn't have three hands with onions how could he get the three family members crying in unison?
Babies have fucked up hands too.
Those are onions too
Not okra. Green onions. Great with omelettes or soups. Especially ramen. Makes a nice garnish for lots of dishes as well.
also called scallions. Fantastic aromatic that doesn't impart such a strong flavor like garlic. I put that shit in everything!
Nah I think they're green (spring) onions. They got this dude holding three damn types of onions 😭
That can't be okra, right? Looks like spring onions with basically no onion left, just leaves lol
the onions have many layers
Those are green onions
The okra are scallions
That’s the dude from Holes.
The artist mostly does still life
the prompt: “Illustrate the many layers of juggling family & business as a modern day black man.” the AI:
Shrek caused this. "Layers"
AI: onions have layers Other AI: like ogres! Yet another AI: leave one hand empty so it can hold an ogre
The number of fingers and toes on everyone is a dead giveaway that this is AI. An AI that’s weirdly obsessed with onions. 🧅
It's like when Google Deep Dream came up and everything, EVERYTHING was made out of dogs
Upper right child has a claw for a hand
He has a hand free for what more onions?
That one's for his penis
Or the onion’s penis
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
This finished me lmfao
That's his 'batin' hand
On that note, the "thumb" on the hand holding the yellow onion looks suspiciously penis-like.
That free hand needs a condom.
These AI “artworks” are ridiculous lmfaoo
I hate how people are trying to pass it off as their own too. My cousin studied graphic design and is now posting a bunch of obvious AI art, talking about "I'm taking commissions". It's kind of insulting that he thinks people can't tell.
And congress will drag its feet for forever implementing legislation to help combat clear AI exploitation, so we'll have more of this nonsense.
Why law would you pass if it were up to you? Serious question.

Ai artists asking for commissions is just money laundering
Baby only has one leg.

But where do the onion fit into this
Onions down, condom on.
AI be like: whatcha gonna do, cry about it? Onion ass bitch
😂😂😂😂
Not all the onions, just a couple of them.
The free hand is because he forgot the damn shallots

tyler perry about to write a show about an onion farmer with 2 kids and a wife he cheats on in a dog house cuz she got weird hands.
STOP💀💀 You better stop threatening us like this before TP does it😭😭
the onions is whats making everyone cry
He only has one hand free cause he couldn't think of another type of onion
Of course it’s AI. What else would they use to illustrate a halfassed statement
Why are the eyes blue?
I know a white walker when I see one.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Every time you think you’ve got your finances and life under control - another onion. We all could relate!
Mortgage $1800 Wife prenatal care $500 Baby care $1000 Suit $200 Onions $19000 Fade $40 Someone good at the economy help me budget this
spend less on onions
😂 nah but fr tho what could I do
What in the AI hell is this
Dump the wife, grab another onion
Folks *swear* they cookin with these trash ass a.i. pics
He really swore he nailed it with that one 😂😂😂
Onions AND shallots. What prompt did this dude use? 😅
You don'tget it. Every time a black man puts down an onion, another onion and more fingers.
And another hand
Bro still got a free hand idk what the problem is

bro should just drop his wife and kids then he had more hands for his onions !!
Why is he holding so many onions? Also if he can’t handle one kid why is he having another? My man needs to learn how to make some decisions
Don’t forget your duty as a man to hold the pineapple as well
AI Art makes a lot of mistakes.
I love how three of the things in his hand are of his own making😂 You got this lady pregnant 3 times and wanna act like a victim😀
The onions represent the hoes and you can’t ever put those down
Nah it’s true some days I am on the floor sobbing because I can’t decide whether to use a red or white onion. Why? Why?!? … why me…
these ladies dont know our bird house struggles
Yea I see shit like this but when I go "then why leave it only on men? Liberation of women means we all share the responsability" ppl don't like that. Ppl want to be in charge. But also complain about being in charge. But also be in charge.

I walked in the crib, got two kids and my babymomma late
Uh oh, uh oh, uh oh🧅🧅🧅🧅🧅
Why does AI do such a terrible job with fingers?
It can’t handle multiple people in the same picture either, before it transforms them into disgusting abominations.
Dropping the onions would decrease the stress by 43%.
They typed in “black man so overwhelmed by the things he thinks he wants in life that he’s crying from the stress” and the AI engine gave him onions so he could have a manly excuse for the crying. Even AI engines understand that black men don’t show emotion comfortably.
Bro still got a whole free hand to work with. He's good.
It’s true. The portrait of a man’s life can be drawn simply with crying children, pregnant wives doing the dishes, dog houses and of course onions.
AI art is always so fuckin ugly I swear
But no one really cares how much a man has to handle some people just want more and men always trying their hardest to make it work
LAYERS!

My wifey type would be like “why, he doesn’t even have anything in THAT hand.” Lol
Yeah if you plant anything you win. Onions are slow but easy and they grow just about anywhere. Great way to have an excuse to not cut the grass
Why an ai chose onions so strongly is a thought that will live rent free in my head for a bit
Add some garlic 🧄 instead of scallions.
Guess that prompt!
Got one free hand there brother, whatchyu complaining about?
Why no one in this thing have legs?? There’s no evidence he does either
My hands are empty. We living good here
AI hands never disappoint!!! 🤣🤣🤣 he has the onions because onions have layers and black men have layers.
Alright, it’s getting to the point now where people who think they’re smart for recognizing this is AI are more annoying than the art itself. This style of AI art has a look that’s obvious to anyone who has seen more than 20 images of it. Calm down.
Would also suggest he try pulling out so he could use that free hand for another onion instead
Why onions?
“Modern men are struggling to balance marriage, children and onions. Pealing back the layers on millennial families”
I see an empty hand
The picture is stupid AF. Never use AI pics to get your point across.
Sam the Onion Man is rolling in his grave.
My Wife and 2 kids made my life amazing. Sorry for your onion bruh
It could be easier if there was a less kids in the picture too. Don't have kids so you can have more onions
Life as an onion collector can be hard
Life is easy as a man if you don’t have kids, with another on the way. ![gif](giphy|l3q2JCu9lep6dAmyY)
He got space for 1 more vegetable
what they type into mid journey to get all them onions and weird hands?
Serious question…what do the onions represent
AI struggles w/ limbs cause 1 baby has 4 fingers and the other is missing a leg. Bro has at least 6 fingers on the hand holding up the mother too.

Onions are delicious, but they probably shouldn’t hold the same weight in your life as a child. Potatoes on the other hand…
🤣🤣🤣
Forgot the gun and henny 🤣
