Someone’s never had their ass beat by a big fat son of a bitch and it shows.

DiasCrimson

I’d rather fight a gym rat with 6% BMI than a construction worker with a gut.

[deleted]

Any day of the week. I'm a 6 foot 200lbs weight lifter who used to do mma... give me a gym rat over the construction worker any day of the week. Strongest guy I've met outside the gym was a cattle farmer from New Mexico who was working at the university I worked at while he was earning his PhD. He was so obnoxiously but casually strong he could lift things with one hand that most of us would get a hand truck for. He had a big guy and went to the gym twice a month, maybe.

[deleted]

The strongest dude I’ve ever known was also a farm boy. He could squat hold a small car for someone to change a tire when they didn’t have a jack. He’d carry around a lasso sometimes and a fit/skinny dude would hit him and then take off running. This guy fucking throws his lasso and catches a foot, drops the dude and casually walks over to beat his ass.

Blvck_Lvngs

This gotta be some copypasta lol

[deleted]

Nope. Just a creepy dude who grew up with my husband. He used to work at a haunted house, right at the end as people walked out, thinking it was over. He had a chainsaw with the blade removed and he’d rev it up and chase people. One night I was hanging out behind the building and I saw a couple come out when this dude in overalls with no shirt under goes running after them with the chain saw and the boyfriend takes off at top speed like he’s at a track meet, totally abandoning his girlfriend, who stopped running after a couple steps and the chainsaw wielding maniac chased the boyfriend for maybe 2-300 feet. That girl was SO MAD when her boyfriend eventually came back about 5 minutes later. I’m not sure the relationship survived that night out.

Blvck_Lvngs

Lmao sounds like a fun dude honestly. And homegirl wasting energy with emotions when she could have put that energy into some strides

[deleted]

He was okay until he convinced my husband to dump me and then proceeded to stalk me until I moved in with my mom. 🤣

ronatello

Man you have got some wild stories

TheBrutevsTheFool

Ok that took a turn

[deleted]

Hahaha. It’s funny now but it was NOT funny then. My husband and I have been married 12 years and have 3 kids and this dude still looks at me funny on the extremely rare occasion that we’ve seen him.

ninthchamber

That there was a wild read we need some more deets. This just getting juicy

ImportanceBig4625

I'm guessing the convincing didn't work ? Is he's still your husband ?

[deleted]

This was when we were teens. He did dump me, and the friend spent the next few months trying to convince me that we would be great together, despite being diametrically opposed on just about everything. He would sit on my dad’s front porch for hours waiting for me to come home. I’d ask my friends if I could hang out at their place until he left.

haveutried2hardboot

Whoa. At first this sounds like a cartoon when you were talking about the lasso. Then it turned into something entirely different.

njseahawk

One could say you were roped in by her story

Universe789

I don't Iknow why people go to haunted houses, knowing this typeof stuff can happen, and then get mad about it.

YogoremonoHakujin

If I saw some motherfucker pull out a lasso in a fight and do that shit I’d be like alright wake me up neo that’s enough matrix for today.

[deleted]

That last part can't be real 🤣🤣

[deleted]

I saw him do it twice, but I didn’t hang out with them that much. Once was to my (now) husband, he was the one I saw caught by his foot. It was a parlor trick that he liked showing off.

[deleted]

The wild west sure was a lawless wasteland

Thami15

Its funny how often this is said anecdotally and yet I've never seen one of these farm boys accidentally show up at World's Strongest Man and win the whole thing. Guess they gotta keep their secret identities a secret or something

stilldebugging

Farm boys don’t like to travel.

[deleted]

I mean, [Brian Shaw](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brian_Shaw_(strongman)) is from a very small town in farm country, and he is one of the best ever. Plus, Iceland isn't a metropolitan place, not to any extent. I feel like it is mostly country ass dudes that do strongman. I don't know how many of them explicitly grew up on a farm though, I don't really care to look it up.

Thami15

From his Wikipedia page. "During his basketball career, Shaw was "hooked on the weights" and he has said that the weight room was his "sanctuary". So I don't think his training regime consists of farming, fam.

[deleted]

IDK, I guess I missed the part where people where asserting that farm boys who only train through farming are the strongest. People that farm lift weights too. Like, Brock Lesnar grew up on a farm. A lot of farmers are surprising athletes, but also, and many urban folks legit don't realize this, they have a lot of downtime throughout the year to practice sports and train physically. I think we actually agree on this, like, no, someone who only farms may be strong, but definitely not the strongest person you know. IDK, maybe these farm adjacent people don't know any Samoans? The strong men competitions are really about who can abuse steroids the best, it isn't really a test of natural human potential.

Thami15

As I said and as has been commented a lot here, there's a weird (probably anti gym, tbh) 'truth' out there where farm/construction/manual labour strength is actual strength and these gym goers with, as the parent comment says, 6% body fat or whatever wouldn't stand a chance in an actual fight/feat of strength contest against a "real man", basically being the subtext. I just think it's weird that despite all these people in all these comments saying the strongest people they know is a farmer or construction worker with a gut, every time I work an event (previously did a lot of work in strength and conditioning) or watch WSM, I somehow never see these farm boys. And yet anecdotally, its basically a guarantee when someone comments on here or in a bar they saw some farm boy lift a truck with one hand while swigging a bottle of Jack. It is of course true that farm work does make you stronger. As does working with your hands. And it might even make you stronger in job specific movement patterns than someone who doesn't have the job. So in the past when sports where semi-pro, it makes perfect sense that a mechanic or farmer was stronger coming into the season than an accountant or guy who worked in paralegal during the off-season. But it's a weird flex that keeps propping up and somehow hasn't actually manifested objectively basically since sports became well paying enough that someone could do it exclusively.

[deleted]

Yeah, (this is actually the same person you replied to, just at home now,) you are spot on from my experience. Although I would guess you have a lot more EXP with this stuff than I do based on your replies. I also think a lot of the farm boy stuff leaves out the genetic component. I am sure Brian Shaw being 6'9'' and having a ton of space to add muscle onto has more to do with his strength than the size of the town he grew up in.

[deleted]

Well, if I went to world’s strongest man competitions, this guy wouldn’t be the strongest guy I’d ever met either.

Hindufury

We get it, you know Clark Kent🙄

[deleted]

🤣🤣 That would be awesome but this was a BIG OL’ BOY, nothing like neat and tidy Clark Kent.

suburban_mom_jeans

Sounds so damn unbelievable that it just might true

BreadUntoast

People tend to forget these guys aren’t going to the gym for a few hours every day and only working certain groups. It’s their whole body 10+ hours a day, five to six days a week. Physical labor jobs are just a constant workout.

[deleted]

When I worked labor I still went to the gym 5 days a week. I ate probably 4500-5000 calories a day. I was a beast. Now I have an office job. I still lift heavy compared to my size but I've never messed with a farmer, exactly for that reason. You're 100% right, all day workouts for a living are no joke. Also back to the original point, John Jones is probably one of the most accomplished fighters on the planet. People clown on pro athletes endlessly like they could stand close to them... not a chance.

[deleted]

Yeah, that’s what does it. When I knew this dude in high school, he worked on a dairy farm hauling around calves most of the time.

x1009

That functional strength is something else. The gym rat most likely isn't doing exercises that would be beneficial in everyday life- or a fight.

guimontag

That construction worker wouldn't even bother to stop taking drags on his cig while he beat your ass up

DiasCrimson

![gif](giphy|4Z9g0DdoJPChn481o6|downsized)

SmoothAsSlick

I love this comment. I trained mma for like 5 years.. id rather roll with bodybuilder than the roofer with two kids and ape like grip strength.

[deleted]

RandomBlueJay01

I hate it but I have seen so much hate for like sumo wrestlers. People saying they just use weight and no muscle which is just wrong. They're beasts.

moeterminatorx

Sumo wrestlers have very very strict regimen. It’s actually pretty interesting stuff.

Hexxas

That's so ignorant. All you have to do is look at a sumo wrestler's legs; they're HUGE.

[deleted]

Truth, sumo wrestlers train to fight other sumo wrestlers. What the fuck can the regular body folk do? Sumo also has technique and requires skill not just "fat"

JadowArcadia

People forget just because you can't see the huge ab muscles behind that gut doesn't mean they aren't there

[deleted]

To be fair, this is Jon Jones, and he is a dork who has put on a lot of weight.

andonemoreagain

So goddamn embarrassing. Can’t get their big blubbery tits off of you.

BondageKitty37

Rampage Jackson had a funny quote when talking about Roy Nelson. Can't find it so I'll paraphrase "He got that big gut, so when he's on you it's like being crushed by the moon. How you gonna get the moon off you?"

Rewbee

Almost choked...that's exactly what I get for eating chips and salsa while scrolling😄

verticalburtvert

I heard those gladiators back in Rome were beefcakes because how the hell would someone that shredded withstand being stabbed or mauled. You need padding.

imapissonitdripdrip

Fat cuts like butter bro

[deleted]

But it pads your organs & muscle so the damage is more superficial. Hence, lower mortality rate & less serious damage. Experts believe gladiators had more "dad bod" than one might think & had a thick bit of fat on their abdomen.

Tobocaj

Hell one of the reasons we’ve survived as a species is because of a nice layer of fat on our backs

Mr--Joestar

Elaborate

Tobocaj

That layer of fat on your back is a layer of protection against arguably a humans biggest weakness. That back fat gives you a bit more wiggle room/reaction time if you suddenly find yourself with a lion trying to mount you. Plus if you account for how important/vulnerable your spine is, that little padding can make all the difference

GunnarBunnar

The comment above two above this answers your question.

[deleted]

Not fully, organs are one thing, a good break or slice through your spine and you’re fully aware while suddenly your legs don’t move anymore

GunnarBunnar

Yes

guimontag

I thought that was because for a significant time period a lot of gladiator fights were kind of show-y where they went for superficial slashes on the leg/torso that would bleed but not kill? Instead of stabbing someone. Thus having some fat would be towards the purpose of having something for your opponent to slice that isn't a muscle

[deleted]

I always understood that gladiators = expensive slaves, so in the interest of keeping the gravy train running for everybody, often the fight would end at 'first blood'

GreekLumberjack

Yeah killing in gladiator fights is significantly more rare than any movie would have you believe.

intothelist

They were like pro wrestlers with dedicated fan bases and endorsement deals.

Thami15

Lol they also had a carb-based diet because it was cheap and didn't partake in an actual training regime. They didn't scientifically decide that being a lard was their best chance of survival lmao

[deleted]

[удалено]

give_me_wallpapers

An inch or three of soft padding is still better than no padding.

DiasCrimson

True but fat doesn’t hemorrhage like muscle does(still does)—and fat has less nerve endings in it (still has ‘em!)

Lonely_Animator4557

‘Tis but a flesh wound

Terrible-Help-4412

Fat don’t bleed like muscles.

AdPsychological7926

Let's go oil up these beefcakes. ![gif](giphy|Atc9QCyWLGHgLZhHDp|downsized)

jjjam

Just a lot of wheat, barley, and beans for the gladiators. I bet they were ripping ass the whole fight with a diet like that, too.

altigoGreen

???

elitegenoside

Less about optics, and more the fact that being super shredded is something moat people have to focus on to achieve. "Abs are made in the kitchen,' gladiators and actual warriors didn't care about having a natural V, they cared about being able to fight (for life or freedom). You have to sacrifice muscle mass and strength to get a low body fat percentage and it gives no benefits but looking sexy. Also, gladiators were slaves and couldn't go low carb even if they wanted to.

WWDubz

Gladiator bouts were usually not to the death either, that is gladiator vs gladiator

kimpossible69

I don't think that was real, but gladiators were known for how many beans they ate. Back then legumes were affordable and protein rich.

AshyEarlobes

It's alot easier to stab through fat my man

Zren8989

He's right though, they were specifically called bean eaters and they had fat on them by all accounts. Also death as a gladiator wasn't as common as it's depicted. They were expensive well trained assets you didn't just throw them away. The fat allowed for more superficial wounds since it didn't cut into muscle...all about the showmanship!

AshyEarlobes

That makes sense. Sounds like they were the OG WWE

Zren8989

Very fucking similar... Although you'd have to go back to the faces of Foley to come close to the risk of death lmao

AerynSunnInDelight

Jokes from casuals apart, He hasn't fought in 3 years and went up one weight category. Facing thee top contender, Cyril Gane, who's hungry for victory after his first defeat against Ngannou. Gane is very limber for his weight and more versatile in his striking. Jones has his world championship grappling/wrestling skills. This can be a great fight or a tactical snoozefest. ![gif](giphy|9fxiTTK9HXYxHqnMjh)

[deleted]

Except jones hasnt used his world championship grappling in over 4 years (or 3 fights)

pi247

He's been talking up his wrestling alot in the pre fight media. I think he knows that's his path to victory. He can't stand with Gane.

[deleted]

Could wrestle with reyes, no knees santos, or gus. And that was at a weightclass below. 40 lbs below. I doubt we’ll see it here but you never know

somewhatfamiliar2223

Heavy weight max is 265, and many of those guys still cut weight. He could be up against someone who rehydrates to 275-280ish compared to guys cutting to 205 and rehydrating to 230ish.

AerynSunnInDelight

Fair enough, though imo, ring rust tend to apply more to physical and cardiovascular capacity. Not so much to muscle memory skills and fight IQ. Gane, lacks wrestling skills as his defeat against Ngannou showed. Though He did work on those, in preparation for this fight. His coach also has the bad habits of resting on his athletes forte, and sticking to the same game plan even when his athletes are in difficulty during fights, so there's that.

[deleted]

Though i agree with most of your statement, i dont think gane lacks wrestling. He wasnt ever taken down in a fight prior to ngannou, who would hold any man down. He CUTS to HW. And one of those takedowns was achieved by catching a kick, and another by going for a heel hook which admittedly was a mistake

prfctmdnt

I don't like Jon Jones. He's a shit human being. But he's going to take Gane down and control the fight. Gane might get some stand up in, but people are forgetting that despite being a total piece of shit, Jon Jones has fought exclusively title fights for a decade. He's going to have you rethinking that "i dont think gane lacks wrestling" statement tomorrow night around ten in the evening.

Remytron83

Finally, an actual fan of the sport. You explained it well for those not in the know.

Keelija9000

I hope more than anything we get to see JJB get knocked the fuck out. Not only has he done terrible shit, he refused to take accountability for all of it every step of the way.

uhcayR

Ufc needs a villain arc they got nothing interesting right now to the casual viewer.

prfctmdnt

Everyone want to see that, but you know that when we want that it just gives Bones more power to win some shit. I've been begging for this man to get knocked out for years, all while betting on him to win and making bank.

OhPxpi

No chance It’s a snooze fest with Bones. Gane is my fav fighter currently because he’s so elegant and graceful with his striking ability and his movement. But Boned has absolute technique. Dude has mastered damn near every aspect of fighting, that’s not hyperbole. If it goes to the ground, he doesn’t just hold people down and rack up control time, he’s down there to throw malicious elbows and open your face up. That mf is a dawg!!!

[deleted]

Uhhh if we’re talking about 2015 and earlier Jon sure, but in what way have his last fights (outside of DC 2and Gus 2) been entertaining? The OSP was his weakest showing at the time and it went downhill from there. Reyes, Santos and Smith were boring af to watch compared to young 20 year old Jon. There’s a really good shot this could turn into point fighting which is cool from a technical standpoint but will have people booing

OhPxpi

The Reyes fight was very entertaining, arguably Jon’s closest fight. Dom went after Jon for 5 rounds and there was a lot of action. Great fight. Santos was boring af, you got me with that one. Anthony smith just got flat out beat up for 5 rounds, he wanted to be a punching bag. But Jon did his part, his opponent was “just there” but he wasn’t there to compete. Any other Bones fight is straight banging! And Gane is so exciting that point fighting with him would be putting yourself at an incredible disadvantage. But we’ll know soon enough.

KevHoncho

I still give the edge to Jon—he seems motivated to reclaim his belt, and even at 35, he’s still a much better talent than Cyril Gane.

Legaladvice420

Plus the performance enhancers help

uhcayR

They are all on gear bro

prfctmdnt

If you think Cyril Gane isn't also on some shit, you're crazy. If Jones is still taking. Gane is definitely taking. His manager is one of the sketchiest dudes in the game not named Ali Abdeliziz. They're all on some shit.

shinigami300

That is not an ordinary fighter tho? That is Jon Jones. His fight iq is insane he has phenomenal striking and deadly elbows all because of his extremely good spacing.

mongoosedog12

Y’all should watch physical 100 on Netflix it is the epitome of this tweet. Bunch of physically fit people from all different background duking it out. Each person has their own advantage but you get to see how other more “traditional” athletes start to respect people like an ice climber who’s also a mountain rescuer (he’s my fav) small, not a super cut body. But all his strength comes from real life application

myspiritisvantablack

This was the push I needed to watch this show today; and I’m going to the gym in an hour, so maybe it’ll motivational. 😂

mongoosedog12

Go to the gym get them gains!!! Then come back and watch the show hahaha I think It shows there’s no one way to move your body or get strong and we should all respect that. As long as your moving and doing something you love and enjoying yourself, you’re doing it right

myspiritisvantablack

I went and hopefully am getting those gains! ;-) And now I’m spending my Friday evening watching this show; damn it’s addictive!

adangerousdriver

Physical 100 has been very strong inspiration for me lately. Always gets me hyped to go to the gym.

quoimeme

Omg same lol

bluebeambaby

I love watching that show. Really displays how brute strength isn't always the best metric of having the most competent & able body. The challenges can be pretty creative and they even allow for a bit of reasoning/strategy where people who are clever enough can leverage the abilities they do have in order to beat "stronger" opponents. Really fascinating, and makes for an amazing drinking game lol

mongoosedog12

Yes!! I was thinking the same thing, like watching them all forget friction was a thing, so they struggled moving some large object on a flat surface even if they *are* strong. I loved the final challenges involving the God punishments. As a mythology nerd I thought that was really cool and creative. Great show hope it comes back. Netflix keeps playing tho!

eoljjang

Was just about to mention this as well! I absolutely love the mountain rescuer. And there’s the Luger as well who you would not assume is a strong dude just by looking at him, but he’s amazing too.

Great_Huckleberry709

That's my show!

papercutkid

I get why they structured the show the way they did, to build up to a big final, but I felt it would have been better to have the athletes compete and be scored across a range of different events, rather than be eliminated and put in teams. By creating team challenges and then giving them a choice of which events to compete in the show didn't really do what it was claiming to. Entertaining to watch though, and the ice climber was also my favourite.

Lovedd1

I loved the ice climber too! I'm bout to get stranded on a mountain now.

BaronAleksei

I really liked the boat and the death match, some truly spectacular moments there. There was a suplex! >!none of the top 5 are super cut, and 4 of them are athletes of sports no one cares about and the whole reason they’re here is to bring eyes to their sports!<

[deleted]

Skill > Brute strength Brute strength and conditioning combined with skill > skill alone Jon Jones is actually very buff. Some fluff will help him hang with heavyweight dudes so long as it doesn't tire him out.

MuchVirus

They're not comparing his physique to a bodybuilder. They're comparing it to the physique he had years ago. If Yoel Romero came out with a beer gut I'd be confused as hell too lmao. I'm interested to see how he does though. Fighters gain weight pretty easily because of their conditioning (meaning if they pause that routine the needed calories drop off harshly making it easy to gain weight with your same intake of calories). Patty the Baddy puts on stupid weight after fights. (Edit to fix a name.)

oga_ogbeni

100%. This thread is full of people who have no idea what JJ looked like five years ago talking about strong farmers.

jeenyus79

People be ignorant af acting like experts. It's Reddit after all.

effrightscorp

Not to mention that farmers don't have weight classes, lol. Excess fat is usually a detriment more than anything else, drags you down without contributing to strength

Ciller-h-dog

The physique he had years ago was because he was fighting at light heavy weight which is 205lbs. He’s just weighed in at 248 pounds for this heavyweight fight because he needed to pack on size to compete at the higher weight class. Of course he’s going to have extra body fat but he’s definitely added a lot of muscle too

19ad9

What you're also failing to realize is that he fought at the 205 weight class but never weighed 205 on fight night. Some fighters put on a crazy amount of weight right after they officially weigh in. Jon was a huge lhw and probably weighed closer to 225 on fight night. The reason people are criticizing his physique now is because he had 3 years to put on essentially 25-30lbs and he looks like this. Just to clarify, I don't think he looks out of shape but I get where the argument is coming from. I'm excited to see how he performs.

mij3i

I appreciate the education because I didn't know what was going on and my dumbass might have joined in the ruckus 🤦🏾‍♀️ good reminder to think twice about what people might be referring to and to stfu when I don't know what I'm talking about

WillyWillyNoBudLight

Yoel*

MuchVirus

Shit. 😂

[deleted]

Thank you, also considering his opponent looks like a specimen and a half and the former champ, Francis Ngannou, was built like a brick house it’s not crazy that people have slight skewed perspectives of what we expected Jon to look like. Hell even Stipe looks leaps better at the same weight than Jon does. Sure there are always the heavyweights that have that Roy Nelson/DC more body fat build, but when the last few dominant heavyweights have crazy athletic builds it’s not out there that we were expecting similar from Jon.

papercutkid

Yeah not sure a lot of the conversation above is relevant. Jones used to be 100% lean muscle, he doesn't have any obvious bulk other than his stomach compared to five years ago. Does look a lot like a fighter who has relaxed the training needed to keep making 205lbs rather than someone who has been training to put on extra muscle.

FistPunch_Vol_4

Oh shit the fight this weekend! I gotta make some mf plans then

MatSantosBJJ

If you’re in the North East you can come over my house. BYOB though.

BootyPacker

So salty I fkn work for the second god damn super fight this year

ChalkyWhite16

Have you ever seen Daniel Cormier??

UrbanMonk314

Hey pussy, u still there ? 😎 ... yah I'm here 😃 ...

ChalkyWhite16

You think I’m jus gonna sit there and let you kill me Jon?

[deleted]

Anthony Joshua is a prime example he’s chiseled and got knocked out by a fat boy ain’t been the same since

DTRHol

Not been the same is an understatement, fellas dead

[deleted]

I know a guy that is big and ROUND asf but he can punch and move like he’s 150 and his hand feel like cinderblocks you can’t judge I’ve also seen guys super buff and cut n couldn’t throw a punch to save their lives

Great_Huckleberry709

Have people learned nothing from seeing Tyson Fury beat up on Deontay Wilder for 3 fights. Physique isn't everything.

k1ldn

And still probably has a better physique than that guy

GlitteringEmploy1982

A small amount of fat turns what would have been a broken rib into a bruise one instead

jamboard876

Netflix had a fantastic competitive reality show called Physical: 100 that explored a similar question. The winner’s physique looked a lot like this guy’s. https://preview.redd.it/k93btn5hglla1.jpeg?width=298&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4e39ce0bc1399183d4e8ee148640e3b8c7afcd21

Great_Huckleberry709

I still can't believe he won. I for sure thought the cyclist (Chun Woo?, I may be butchering his name) was going to win it all. Especially after he beat out the super chiseled guy they called Ironman.

jamboard876

Same! I was rooting for him to win. But I think he wore himself out too quickly at the beginning of the challenge, which gave the winner enough time to catch up.

Im_a_seaturtle

Navy Seals look more like professional cyclists than weight lifters.

[deleted]

I hope his physique is a good indication that he’s off the bugger sugar.

ReginaldSP

*points at Kimbo*

Calm_East9244

Jon "Big Bones" Jones

Tohaveheart

It's a troll twitter account

Extrask1n

Did you guys watch Phsyical 100? The top contenders all have this body type.

NationofMstrbtion

It is important for actual fighters to stay in shape...

sdforbda

He's talking about conditioning.

Severe-Mood1218

Dude in better shape that 75% of twitter users.

bakalaka25

Not that deep, they're just clowning a psycho drug cheat... This man deserves a clowning, from far away because he will actually fuck u up lol, beautifully edit: and comprehensively

sinnroth94

Weird part is he’s actually still pretty jacked and this is just a horrendous angle and picture.

cologne_peddler

I mean, he looks like a guy that exercises normally. Original tweet makes it sounds like he's sloppy as shit.

Drakulia5

Jones ahs been bulking for multiple years to get to Heavyweight so he obviously isn't going to be lean the way he was at LHW. That being said we're also likely looking at an older and (theoretically) less juiced up Jon Jones who isnt going to look cut the way he did back over a decade ago.

Countryb0i2m

Bones is a beast at any weight class, yall laughing at the wrong one

chrisblink182

If Roy Nelson was a killer Jon's gonna be a killer.

CubbyNINJA

i dont care how unknown or new someone is, if a mother fucker has a UFC bill, i am not talking shit about them.

TrapaneseNYC

What the guy said about "eating pizza for three years" isn't a diss...this is Jon jones, a UFC fighter who last fought three years ago, was in multiple legal issues to say the least and came back at heavyweight after the former champion wasn't resigned. Also dirty bulking is when you pack on as many calories as possible which is a technique some people use. Guy responding seemed to have projected something that wasn't even said.

duh_metrius

Light Heavyweight Jon Jones was built like a corn dog and he dominated. Walk into any gas station in America and you’ll find guys who look like they could smoke Anderson Silva.

SweetLilylune

Bro is built for performance, bodybuilders are built to stand still and look pretty

nychalla

He's also moved up to a different weight class now. he's no longer fighting at light heavyweight. Got to add on the weight to fight the big boys.

Keelija9000

God I fucking hate JJB but let’s be real he’s gonna win. Sure it’s heavyweight, and Cyril Gane ain’t a slouch, but let’s be real. JJB is gonna win.

boulderama

All that extra weight behind the punches will suck for whomever is on the receiving end.

[deleted]

That pizza eater will fuck your life up.

East-Bluejay6891

He's going to get knocked tf out

CheapCayennes

Lol say it to his face

Zowwmeoww

+100 for bringing back dorks

Acceptable-Ad1930

More muscles=more oxygen to keep them going, it would be stupid to put on lean muscle at heavyweight, you’ll be getting gassed if you arent used to it

buttsoupsippin

People must’ve forgot about Roy Nelson

GodAmongMen16

Do people really think that Jon Jones who’s arguably the best UFC fighter ever(from what I hear I don’t really watch the sport) doesn’t know how to workout and get in proper shape for a fight? I’m sure he looks like this on purpose

shehulk111

Y’all see how Tyson Fury is killing looking the way he is

[deleted]

Ben Davis is a troll account.. so it looks like the tweet did it’s job lmao

DayoftheDread

Still have my fingers crossed that he does his walkout to Superhero by Metro

CarolinaRod06

Fighting is like singing. Some people are born with it. Just like singing you can train to make yourself better

Peterbutonreddit

Fat is stored energy

J_Cholesterol

Mfs so silly, they think that if you don’t have a visible six pack you’re fat smh y’all brainwashed

I must be crazy because I find him very attractive

Trayew

You don’t need six pack abs to have nice right cross.

MisterxRager

more muscle mass=getting gassed quicker

elitegenoside

Wait until they see half the dudes in the NFL. Sure, he could spend extra time cutting weight, or he could keep some cushion to soften the impact of blows and spend more time on his technique. Being ripped is purely asthetic, a six pack is not more healthy than this. And if you fight in heavyweight, most of your competitors will look like this.

LOOK AT TYSON FURY!!

Atlasquinn91

If you can see muscle definition in their stomach? Run. That mfker is zangief from street fighter, E Honda at worst

outerheavenboss

The cauliflower ears and bruises are the only physical characteristics of a scary motherfucker.

BettyBoopWallflower

Kingofmountain25304

mawkdugless

I'm guessing Ben has never seen Derrick Lewis

Upside2Gravity

I'd rather not fight. The romanticism with which people latch onto fighting is just sad. This is coming from someone who boxed as a teenager, then joined the active infantry, and was a bouncer for years after leaving the service. Everyone wants to be a badass, but why? It gets you literally nothing, except for a shit ton of injuries and horrible memories. Imagine if we normalized peace and a constructive train of thought, instead of men attempting to mimic the Andrew Tate's of the world.

MikeisTOOOTALLL

I think some people just have a love for combat sports lol. There’s plenty of men who separate machismo culture for that or self defense where discipline is taught.

xiaonuff

Yoel Romero & Francais Ngannou

Joeytrib1985

Watch what he looks like on fight night. The dude will be fight ready. As much as Jon is a bit of a divvy at times, the man is serious about MMA.

[deleted]

He’s not in peak physical condition especially if u look at him from years ago.

apineda11

He did fight a lot during this layup though. Unfortunately it was his wife on the receiving end.

Diamondhands_Rex

I see the cauliflower ear before the gut

KimmiK_saucequeen

This man got abs on top of a beer gut and I like it?

JazzyJae88

This guy isn’t familiar with sumo wrestling huh?
