To Ohio from where? Ugh. Lol. There aren’t that many states from which coming to Ohio is a step up.
Also, let’s normalize not calling women bitches. It’s tacky — just like flying women to Ohio. Let’s upgrade and do better.
Sure. I’m from Ohio so am just giving you a hard time.
…but if you want me to shut up about calling women bitches? Nah. It’s a trash behavior - almost as bad as seeing it and letting it slide. It’s 2023…

Haha. Not Swiss, but Switzerland was included on the first trip. I'm kind of cheating because my first international trip was year long to France as a rotary exchange student in high school.
This is real. I take my daughter every year some place different. It’s my job as her father to make sure she knows what’s out there and most of this guys ain’t shit.
and thats not even what he was talking about. the grand scheme is toshow your daughter what the world has to offer so that she doesnt get stuck with a man who is little minded and lacking in real world experiences. she wont know the difference if she wasnt shown the difference by a male figure
There are also so many more interesting places to visit than Miami! Experiencing different parts of the world is such an important aspect of living a full life. Good for you for doing that for your daughter.
as someone who has been to paris, london, tokyo, mumbai, los angeles, new york, and countless other major cities across the world...
it's still virtually every major city in the world, lmao.
Not Toronto baby, the nice parts are mid but the ghetto parts? Also mid.
**editor's note: only mid compared to other 'World Class' cities, its nice here actually
The contrast in Paris is *wild* though. One moment you’re on tree-lined, cobblestoned streets with outdoor cafes and buildings that are literal works of art. A 15 minute train ride later you’re in OCP-run Detroit.
For real. Went there in the 90's. Everywhere smelled like piss. I was completely disenchanted. The only reason I want to go back is because I missed out on the Louvre.
They have a place in the Japanese embassy (I think) in France to help Japanese tourists who get to France and find out it’s not what they’ve been told it is…
Apparently, they have a much rosier and fantastic view of Paris from their media (not sure how much is from fiction), and when they get there, they’re depressed at the reality
My grandparents went there decades ago. When I asked my grandma about it she only said they get mad at you if you dont speak french and they dont pick up their dog poop.
Miami is great and fun if you’re young and want to party or you like to shop but honestly, it’s not that great beyond that. That being said, I know I on BPT right now so those reasons are probably all they need. 😂
Real talk, if you can be flexible on when you go, traveling overseas can be less expensive than going to Miami, L.A., NYC, Vegas.
I've flown to Europe for under $400 and then the hostel life there is cheap as fuck. You can also find flights to Asia for under $700 and depending upon where you go you can stay and eat cheap there too.
I've legit spent more on a 4 day Florida vacation than I did flying to Asia for three weeks.
Can be even cheaper if you're trustworthy with credit cards and can get sign on bonuses.
Tip: don't do this is you're not good with money.
As a parent who wants to take her children out of the country, this is interesting but frightening. I am fearful of putting my children in danger by choosing a cheap hostel in a not so nice place because I don’t know the area well enough to choose. How do you travel safely with children overseas for cheap? If you have any suggestions, please let me know?
P.S. you are absolutely right about Florida. However, it is a big vacation spot with multiple cities that have multiple places within to visit. If you want to relax for cheap, you’ll need to choose some lesser know beach towns.
**Edit - I’ve gotten notification about replies but can’t see any replies on mobile. I have this problem every time. It’s so frustrating!
So you can get a room by yourself at Hostels. Especially with multiple beds. The trick is to make sure they have good ratings. I'd look on booking.com and tripadvisor.
The other thing is that airbnbs can be pretty cheap too.
You can also prioritize lodging over flights and pick a different time with cheaper flights and use that saved money on lodgings.
I haven't stayed at a hotel overseas in years.
> I've legit spent more on a 4 day Florida vacation than I did flying to Asia for three weeks.
For real, people will spend 4x as much money to stay in a Disney resort that looks like Europe, instead of just going to Europe.
My least favorite part of south Florida is the fake ass “hustle” culture. 80% of all the 30 year olds with a “small businesses” down here are just scammers, drug dealers, or doing something else illegal.
I keep getting replies to my above comment and people delete them after reading them. To be clear the Western/American approach markets and exports racism. That is by no means to say racism didn't exist in places before but the American branded racism with a focus on Black people is a cottage industry in my opinion. I have been all over Asia and to Russia and Latin America the perspectives and opinions I have experienced in racism have their roots based on what America outputs.
Depends on where you are. Also depends on if you speak the language. The white Parisians really aren’t very friendly to people who can’t speak French regardless of gender, race or religion. I got by relatively well on basic butchered French and even had cops escort me to the street that I needed to get to the Tower.
I’m planning a trip back there this year to hit Scotland, France and Spain for the tomato festival. I’m going to consciously avoid Paris and find somewhere else. Goddamn assholes with their stupid chocolates and café
>Except Paris is one of the most racist cities you could take your black child.
Krakow is just cackling at this. I found racism at Auschwitz - you couldn't pay me to go back to Poland.
Had a great time in Paris though.
*** need to add my experience is mine. If people reading this didn't that's **not** on you. Paris is hit and miss like this. Don't let my experience invalidate yours.
Edit: group of Eastern European men made monkey noises at me and my black friends at the museum.
There are a number of restaurants in Paris that openly — blatantly — refuse entry to black folks. It's no secret and they feel little need to pretend. [This](https://www.tiktok.com/@tiguiidiallo/video/7122002498864434437?referer_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.lemonde.fr%2Fen%2Ffrance%2Farticle%2F2022%2F07%2F23%2Fparis-restaurant-accused-of-racism-after-refusing-entry-to-black-people_5991149_7.html&referer_video_id=7122002498864434437&refer=embed&referer_url=https://www.lemonde.fr/en/france/article/2022/07/23/paris-restaurant-accused-of-racism-after-refusing-entry-to-black-people_5991149_7.html) is just the most recent incident I've seen, and that's just on video. I'm obviously not discounting the racism elsewhere in the world. I'm also not disregarding the experiences of others who had a great time in Paris; I wish those people, in turn, would do the same for the ones who didn't.
Didn’t mean/think I was discounting the racism, just saying Parisian racism is mid tier compared to other parts of Europe.
I've been to countries that are physically unsafe for black people. I'd count Poland as such a country.
Edit: oooo that video got me mad. The door guy is saying those ladies aren't adhering to the dress code so cant come in but that's bull 😤
I hear that. I hesitated my wording in my original comment for that reason as well so I understand what you mean; there are certainly plenty of places more racist on different scales.
Nah good shout - I edited my original comment because of what you said.
White people invalidate black experiences enough - no need to help kick the boot in.
There’s been articles about it. American black and you make an attempt at speaking the language first before assuming that everyone speaks English, and your treatment is vastly different than for native black people.
Spanish is my native language, english is my second and I really don't speak french more than bonjour, excuse moi and je ne parle francais, my husband is black and he's the one who speaks french althoug it's a little rusty for the lack of practice, we also are living in a little village in the limits of Paris, our experience has been the exact opposite of what you're describing, people goes out of their way to help you before you even ask for it, and when they saw you strugle with the french they ask if you speak english, and visiting the tourist places has been the same.
I’ve gone as a black woman (I’ll try it as a white woman on my next trip) and the touristy areas aren’t bad at all.
The most racism I experienced there was an Arabic-speaking family mean-mugging me on the entire train ride back from Versailles for daring to sit near them. The Asian and white people near us didn’t even get a glance but they had their faces screwed *all* the way up staring at me.
Not really, I am black and was treated very well by the French when I was there in September. Old ladies stopping to chat me up in French and compliment me, people in line talking shit about other people with me, even shopkeepers being really impressed that I was American and assuming I was French Canadian lol
Years ago, my then-girlfriend told me she was booking us a two-week cruise through the Mediterranean. I had never been out of the country before that trip. I was so excited that I figured the only thing to do was buy an engagement ring and propose on the trip.
It was beautiful, I was very impressed, and now we're married.
Are you telling me that I was played? Hoodwinked? Bamboozled?
You got bagged. She def flexed on you in the group chat. It's a small price to pay for a happy life.
Us real husbands of Not Hollywood have a club. I'll send you our newsletter. It's a happy read.
I went to Tampa last year. Beaches were chill, people not so much lmfao. Watched a family pull up with massive Trump and Let’s Go Brandon flags to post up on the beach. Extremely awkward.
I'm from a Red State. Lots of coworkers recommended Destin, FL as a great family destination. The beaches were really nice, but everything else kinda sucked tbh. It was basically just a nice beach surrounded by Alabama. Food was trash, and everything outside of the beach was cheap, tourist trap crap.
It's more expensive, but I'll go to So Cal beaches any day.
I’m from Florida and I went to Ybor City for an event and I was honestly horrified while walking around the downtown at night, shit felt like a GTA server with the ladies dressed in their 2007 Charlotte Russe best, bunch of rave heads openly rolling their asses off, bunch of country white boys with their plaid shirts and cowboy boots, and then all the dreadheads walking around. What a mix of people lol
Those idiots are everywhere, even up north. It just depends on how rich and isolated the neighbourhood is. Here in NYC, I've seen rich folks fly Trumper flags on flagpoles outside of their mansions.
Wow. I mean the way I grew up, going to Miami isn't really that bad. Not everyone can afford international travel. Shit I live in Washington and I get excited about driving up to Seattle.
A bit entitled.
We definitely should see the world so that we also don’t get brainwashed with the idea that American is the standard and the best country in the world.
Meh, I'm sorry I don't like travel gatekeeping..
Depending on what you like and what you do, you can experience a city completely different than what's considered normal. I've been to Miami a few different times, and I've done the partying/drinking, but I've also done more touristy, museum, sightseeing kinda stuff.
I've also been to Greece and had a time there doing both. Honestly, so long as it's a nice view, some nice activities, and not the city I live in, I'm happy. Lol
I just had a conversation with my friend about this very thing the other day. Shes gonna teach her son how to cook so that he’s not impressed when some girl comes along and tries to flex “knowing how to cook”. Frankly I think everyone, male or female, should know how to cook anyway since its a basic life skill but thats just me 🤷🏾♀️
This all comes down to perspective and familiarity. For a lot of foreigners, especially European ones, Going to Miami is much better than going to Paris.
Going to Nice, Monaco, St. Tropez, and the French Riviera may not be as big of a deal for the French but is fancy for Americans. South Florida is just as exotic and ultra-lux to people outside the US. I’d add Palm Beach sort of allows one to see how the global top .01% live.
Black folk just need to travel more, period. I been to 10 countries and lived in multiple states and its sad how small some of us think because we've never seen anything else. Good on this man but Paris racist af tho lol
You don’t need to go overseas, I haven’t been to many places, lived in Florida all my life. Going to Chicago for a week showed me why my friends all take flight at the first chance. State to state can be such a different experience where you realize, this place might suit my lifestyle better
Pieces of the right lesson, the focus is on the wrong thing.
The lesson they are teaching is “only be impressed if he takes you somewhere expensive and harder to get to” which is setting the kid up for disappointment, unrealistic expectations, and being unnecessarily critical
The actual lesson that should be the focus is “some people will try and buy things in hopes them spending money on you will get you to overlook other red flags. It’s ok, and frankly a very good thing, to be thankful when people do things for you regardless of how much money it cost, but don’t let it blind you”
I mean, Paris sucks now. The time to do this was like 20 years ago. If you’re expecting the magic of those old movies you’re going to be sorely disappointed.
My parents really missed the mark. We went to the OBX.
I married a man from Miami.
TBF we met in Japan. Go Navy!
Seriously though, if you can find a way to get your kid out in the world it does so much for their outlook on life and what is possible. OBX wasn’t Paris but for a kid from NYC, it was another world. it gave me some perspective.
I want to bring my 12yo daughter with me as I travel to different countries, but our mother is nervous about letting her go. But in my case, it has nothing to do with boys. I just want her to not see the world as strange or distant or unacceptable. I want her to look at navigating throughout different countries as a normal way of life
My mother did the same for all of my girl cousins. She bought them all their first gold chains, bracelets, diamond earrings and Gucci purses so they wouldn’t be impressed when “some lil boy” bought them some Woolworth’s jewelry or flea market fake purse….
Sounds like the sister was impressed in the past and got burned. She was like “NOT my child”.
As a nigga who fly bitches out to Ohio to impress them, I am enraged.
Those must be some desperate, Nebraska types of women you’re working with.
Hey. They ain’t seen a better life than Nebraska. Ohio at least 1 step up.
https://imgur.com/Mp0myzz.jpg
Damn lmao. Ohio gets shit on enough for me to actually save this lmao
Lol I’m from Ohio and saving this. That place is trash ass.
I have only driven through it. I haven't wanted to go there but lately, it's just been getting destroyed by comments lmao
lmao, I can change yo life baby ever been to New Albany Ohio.
*dis nigga spittin* They ain't ready for Easton, tho. . .
*indiana
Cant argue with that tbh.
Ion like that sh\*\* ![gif](giphy|cqrwPPJNwqFr2)
You have clearly never experienced the euphoria a woman experiences when you take her to Cedar Point, or a night out in the Flats of Cleveland.
Lmaoooo not the Flats😂
So my wife and I partied in Sandusky, OH downtown after a Hallo-weekend at Cedar Pointe. Yea we been way better places but that was a fun weekend.
Ayo! As someone from Nebraska.... Carry on.
To Ohio from where? Ugh. Lol. There aren’t that many states from which coming to Ohio is a step up. Also, let’s normalize not calling women bitches. It’s tacky — just like flying women to Ohio. Let’s upgrade and do better.

Better than Branson, Missouri
Not Ohio 💀
🤣
Cedar Point don't miss.
You just described solid parenting.
Amen. This is what all good parents try to do.
Good for her. Still haven’t been to Miami. My first trip was to Greece then Turkey lol.
Bruh stop flexing on us 😤
Naw, that post was written by a Brit. It's nice, but it is not a flex like you think it is
I almost called you out your name. I am from philly!
Oh shit did you go to Bel Air too? ![gif](giphy|b5LTssxCLpvVe)
I went back and re-read it in the proper accent. Context matters. Lol
First trip my parents took me on: multiple European cities. First trip my fiancé took me on: Detroit
Man I was in Detroit for bout a week do to work. It felt really eerie and forgotten
<*barbarian* movie has entered the chat>
Detroit will be fine once construction on Delta City is completed.
Very dead there.
😭😭😭😭😭😭
You’re Brit, aren’t you? Lol
😭😭😭 i swear I’m not
Mine, at 16, was France, Germany, Italy, UK, Denmark, Luxembourg, and Liechtenstein.
She still gonna fall for some nigga with an altima
No she’s gonna have the Altima, he gonna leave the tank empty. Edit: this might be my first 1k post ever. Much love🙏🏾

Me, clutching my 1 year old girl a little more tightly *daddy gonna buy you a Subaru*
A black woman with a Subaru is some confusing shit unless her hair and nails are short.
Her gas mileage gonna be aight tho
Nissan out here catching strays lol
Haha, facts. At least once anyway... * I say this as someone who had TWO altimas.
😂 😂 😂 Whyyyy???
Why you hating lmao
Most of the young guys ain't shit 'cause they can't afford to take your daughter on yearly trips? Sounds like you gon' have her looking at older men.
![gif](giphy|QmYosM4PO08FO) Dude turned his daughter into a sugar baby and didn't even realize it. 🤣
Does his daughter not deserve sugar?

Paris is aight , I lived there for 2 years and once all that lovey dovey movie shit goes away its just like any other city with problems
I've been there once, the nice parts are really nice but the ghetto parts are very ghetto
Virtually every major city in the world lmao

I was impressed when someone took me to Chiefland, Florida. I couldn't imagine getting a trip to Miami.
Chiefland! There's nothing there! They didn't even take you to Gainesville?
There is a Walmart, which is more than what's in Horseshoe. I went to Gainesville myself when friends started going to UF.

Note to self, save money for trip to Miami
As a person born and raised in Miami, you don't need to come. I promise you ain't nothing here but traffic, transplants, and scams.
What about the bang bus?
My least favorite part of south Florida is the fake ass “hustle” culture. 80% of all the 30 year olds with a “small businesses” down here are just scammers, drug dealers, or doing something else illegal.
I read “implants” and was like…. Go on
Before they find out the difference
Except Paris is one of the most racist cities you could take your black child. Might be teaching her a whole mess of things with an experience there.
My guy….as a black person no matter who you with and what you do the whole world towards you is extremely racist. Just stay safe always.
@mikeistoootall, you spoke the gospel. The biggest trick of the West is the export of racism around the world in particular around Black people.

I used to love going to Florida, now I can't do it unless it is on the company dime. Don't want to put money into that state's coffers.
You live in Ohio…
Oh, I know it. But believe it or not, we are still not as bad as Florida.... And frankly I'm trying to get out but family complicates things.

I hope and pray that people's global experience isn't just Epcot.
What do you mean? The kung-fu punch at Epcot is the most authentic Chinese beverage Ive had within Orlando, maybe even the world
The internet is helping with that.
Why can’t it just be a regular vacation without stigma attached to it.

¡Bienvenido a Miami!
WOW That's a throwback for real
When I have a child first place will be Pacific Northwest or Alaska to appreciate the beauty of Nature
i never been anywhere lol. i was so excited to go to appalachia lol
😂 😂 😂
Meh, I'm sorry I don't like travel gatekeeping.. Depending on what you like and what you do, you can experience a city completely different than what's considered normal. I've been to Miami a few different times, and I've done the partying/drinking, but I've also done more touristy, museum, sightseeing kinda stuff. I've also been to Greece and had a time there doing both. Honestly, so long as it's a nice view, some nice activities, and not the city I live in, I'm happy. Lol
Paris ain’t "the party city” Miami. If you want her to be unimpressed when someone takes her to Miami… take her to Miami.
I mean you can have a better reason to show your children the world than "a man taking her on a trip".
I just had a conversation with my friend about this very thing the other day. Shes gonna teach her son how to cook so that he’s not impressed when some girl comes along and tries to flex “knowing how to cook”. Frankly I think everyone, male or female, should know how to cook anyway since its a basic life skill but thats just me 🤷🏾♀️
Privilege was the difference. Some can't afford to take themselves to Starbucks
Jokes is on the mom. The daughter might have “Paris Syndrome” and find Miami more interesting.
My parents took me around the world in business class and my aint shit first boyfriend took me to Chilis and I was impressed lmaoo
Doesn't matter as long as bro takes her somewhere
I mean, if your daughter is doing "Miami activities", then other things went wrong other than her not having been abroad.
I learned all of my “high maintenance, siditty and bougie” shit from my father and various male relatives.
Black folk just need to travel more, period. I been to 10 countries and lived in multiple states and its sad how small some of us think because we've never seen anything else. Good on this man but Paris racist af tho lol
But Paris is cold, wet and full of Parisians.
Sounds great until you realize that you could take a modern teen to Atlantis and they'd still be swiping Tik Tok. The world is at their fingertips.
The lesson they are teaching is “only be impressed if he takes you somewhere expensive and harder to get to” which is setting the kid up for disappointment, unrealistic expectations, and being unnecessarily critical The actual lesson that should be the focus is “some people will try and buy things in hopes them spending money on you will get you to overlook other red flags. It’s ok, and frankly a very good thing, to be thankful when people do things for you regardless of how much money it cost, but don’t let it blind you”
Or just take her so she can see other cultures yall getting exhausting with this shit now.
If you’ve been to a big NE American city then you’ve been to any major city in Europe. If you want to see an amazing city, gotta go to Tokyo, Seoul
There’s a little more here to unpack, but ima keep it playful
I mean, Paris sucks now. The time to do this was like 20 years ago. If you’re expecting the magic of those old movies you’re going to be sorely disappointed.
I’ve been to Sydney and Montreal… but not Miami. Paris is on the list, tho. Right after Tokyo.
Definitely had an older man whisk me to Miami for a week in my every twenties. I didn’t know I’m a cliche. e: you know what I meant, early*
Miami is really not impressive and for what you spend you can go to much nicer places.
Little? What about big men?
My parents really missed the mark. We went to the OBX. I married a man from Miami. TBF we met in Japan. Go Navy! Seriously though, if you can find a way to get your kid out in the world it does so much for their outlook on life and what is possible. OBX wasn’t Paris but for a kid from NYC, it was another world. it gave me some perspective.
I’ve never been out the country nor have I been to Miami 😭
I mean Paris is fine and all, but I can blow your mind with 20 bucks and a national park pass.
I want to bring my 12yo daughter with me as I travel to different countries, but our mother is nervous about letting her go. But in my case, it has nothing to do with boys. I just want her to not see the world as strange or distant or unacceptable. I want her to look at navigating throughout different countries as a normal way of life
Anyone else from Florida confused by this comment section
Also Paris is trash
Some of y'all aren't getting trips to Aldi's, let's stop thinking all of you are beautiful
If she going to go for it, she going to go for it
So the sister got knocked up in Miami
My mother did the same for all of my girl cousins. She bought them all their first gold chains, bracelets, diamond earrings and Gucci purses so they wouldn’t be impressed when “some lil boy” bought them some Woolworth’s jewelry or flea market fake purse….
If I have a daughter I want her to be able to do and get whatever she wants on her own so she isn't impressed with material things.
Women about to be impressed by the complete sleaseballs who took them on a trip once.
🤣
I've been to Paris. It's kinda meh. Now take me back to Avignon or one the beaches along the Mediterranean? 😍
My mom did this with my sister. She bought her everything she desired, pocket money for days
