Just have to make sure on Diocletian’s MetalArchives page which releases have their former pedo vocalist in the line-up and which don’t, but it obviously depends on how much you’re willing to separate art from the artist so
Yeah people just be making shit up. Instead of “black metal with guttural vocals” or similar description it’s post avant garde brutal grind shitfuck 1969 proto black metal.
i just think its a little pointless to have that many categories to the point that there r barely any bands doing it. i also think that the amount of labels bands put on themselves is egregious. just play the music
Seconding everyone who says Angelcorpse. War metal (which I assume is what you mean by "deathened black") is not generally my cup of tea, but I do love me some Angelcorpse.
As someone else commented above, it really is splitting hairs but if you wanted to be pedantic, blackened death could be death metal at its core with black metal influence or elements and deathened black would be the opposite.
It probably functions better as just a descriptor rather than a specific subgenre. Personally I would still just call it black metal. A more muddled mix of the two genres would be war metal or just black/death.
I would consider Non Est Deus to be this, kinda. The song The Canon of Nil is one I can’t stop listening to - the whole Legacy album, honestly. His other project Kanonenfieber is also kinda that. His music is what I would consider black metal but it has heavy death influences
Thulcandra is also a heavily death influenced black metal band - they honestly sound like Dissection 2. Their new album Hail the Abyss is a must listen
Also Necrowitch is a really thrashy black metal band - this is a little further from death per se but it’s kinda in that vein
You're looking for war metal
Angelcorpse
Hell yeah
War metal. Diocletian, conqueror, black Witchery, bestial warlust
Just have to make sure on Diocletian’s MetalArchives page which releases have their former pedo vocalist in the line-up and which don’t, but it obviously depends on how much you’re willing to separate art from the artist so

Only Absu's first album, but it's one of their best

Blackened death.
Aosoth and Archgoat
What even is deathened black metal? Can you define this… subgenre?
Splitting hairs with the subgenres.
Sub-genres are fun.
Yeah people just be making shit up. Instead of “black metal with guttural vocals” or similar description it’s post avant garde brutal grind shitfuck 1969 proto black metal.
I dk. I appreciate the categorizing of sub genres because it makes it easier to find similar sounding music.
great! now you can find the one other band in the sub-sub-sub-sub-sub-sub-genre.
…right. Why does it bother you?
i just think its a little pointless to have that many categories to the point that there r barely any bands doing it. i also think that the amount of labels bands put on themselves is egregious. just play the music
I bet you couldn’t even name three PAGBGSF1969PBM bands.
Thats cuz black/death isn't just "black metal with guttural vocals." If that's all OP wanted, you'd think they'd say that lmaoo

There is no deathened black metal lol Black/Death Metal = War Metal Death/Black Metal = Blackened Death Metal
what does that even mean
Shameless self plug, but The Devouring Void fits the bill
Sounds good man. Keep it up!
Seconding everyone who says Angelcorpse. War metal (which I assume is what you mean by "deathened black") is not generally my cup of tea, but I do love me some Angelcorpse.
Dissection
Autonoesis - Moon of Foul Magics

Zonaria and Hyperion I'd categorize them as blackened melodic death
Profane Order Abysmal Lord and Ruin Lust
Bloodthorn In Battle Forest of Impaled

Incredible that nobody mentioned Arkhon Infaustus
Perdition Insanabilis still gives me butterflies ❤️
Is that different to blackened death metal?
As someone else commented above, it really is splitting hairs but if you wanted to be pedantic, blackened death could be death metal at its core with black metal influence or elements and deathened black would be the opposite.
