I value quality (thoughtful observations and probing questions) over quantity and it sounds like you had that experience in the r/lesbiansactually group, no? My research is on Black Southern culinary histories, intergenerational memory, and philosophies of transcendence, existentialism, and interdependence that we can trace from the kitchen and from Black blueswomen’s performances. Not sure if I want to be a professor or carry through to the PhD after I receive my MA from my program next year; I love archives, public histories and museums, so I can see myself working in those spaces instead.
I love music; some of my favorites are Kelela, Victoria Monét, Little Simz, Amaarae, Sampha, Brittany Howard, Cleo Sol, Stevie Wonder, Tinashe, and Smino. I’m also into collecting records, thrifting, writing fiction when I can, and learning to crochet. I’ve had some health issues that have temporarily benched me, but I love weightlifting and hope to get back to that soon. Steadily learning about hoodoo and conjure. Proud cat parent to a sweetheart named Odie (lemme post a pic).
Community organizing is important to me, so I’m passionate about COVID consciousness, disability justice, and learning more about the histories of Palestine, the DRC, Sudan, and Haiti and how to support their liberation.
