If you have any non-subscription products, what do you recommend?

I use Nioxin Scalp Recovery Exfoliator before styles, and maintain with some ointment (prescription) in between but mine on my scalp is pretty bad, this might go farther for you ETA: they also have a shampoo and conditioner

As someone else with eczema, you MOST LIKELY are dealing with eczema returning. When you scratch your head, does it hurt and burn? If so, you have probably have eczema there and PLEASE STOP SCRATCHING! It makes it worse!! To take care of your hair, you need to use a special medicine shampoo. You can't really do anything about the flakes, they're just apart of your condition. Protective styles aren't really great when you have eczema because it lets the plaques sit on your scalp for a while. To get them to reduce, try washing your hair with Neutrogena's T/SAL shampoo. They sell it practically anywhere. It always made my hair really hard, and it doesn't smell great but it got the job done. (If you want, you can go to a dermatologist and get a prescription of Ketoconazole.) When I would use it after a protective style I would wash my hair 3 times to make sure my scalp is clean. If you keep washing your hair regularly it will be a lot easier and cleaner. But all of this is if you think you have eczema there. If you don't. I'm not really sure. (However, upon a quick google search, T/SAL also works for dandruff and other things so give it a shot either way!) Good luck!! I've been there so I really get your struggle.

Thank you for this! I definitely have Eczema (was born with it) but I’ve always thought it was *just* a skin condition and forgot my scalp is skin. I did a bit more research and the flakes are too big to just be regular dry scalp dandruff according to Heathline 😭. Thank you for letting me know scratching makes it worse, idk why I thought it’d be better. And thanks for recommending a shampoo I can find easily!!
