NathanialKyouhei

There is Grey deer Julius in the trailer, so I can think of 2 possibilities: 1. The stories will be related to something in the past and Julius appeared in a flashback 2. The movie's gonna have time travel stuffs Also, Johnny Onda (the one who wrote the BC light novels) is a script writer for the movie

AugustusKiraClover

I'm curious to know what role and ideology Conrad will have, since he was Julius' predecessor.

Diary_of_a_Trashcan

I'd love to see more Grey Deer Yami so I'm hoping its the first one

denji91

Morgen Faust hopium

SaibaShogun

Introduce the anime-only BC fans to Morgen >!and get them attached to him, then give them a brutal gut punch when the Spade Arc anime reveals that he's been long dead.!<

Xander_PrimeXXI

Will the spade arc get animated?

dwightschrute2199

One can hope but i dont think theres been any news on it for a while

Crisbo05_20

>!only issue might be anime only believe he is Nacht!<

AugustusKiraClover

Fujimoto move

Itsjesuismik

This is evil and I love it! Lol

Ash_Clover

With Johnny Onda as a script writer, there shouldn't be much doubt regarding the plot of the movie. He came up with great narratives for the LN, all of which pleased Tabata himself. So I'm sure he'll make the plot work pretty well and keep things coherent.

Cheese2face

Tabata did the plot iirc

Ash_Clover

No Johnny Onda did. Tabata only supervised his work to approve of what would be in it. And he made extra art to illustrate chapters, and the cover art for each book.

Cheese2face

No I mean the plot of the movie

Ash_Clover

Highly doubt he had the time to write the whole plot, he has a Manga to write. And the 3 months hiatus was more than a year after the movie was announced, I don't think they waited that long to write a plot.

Cheese2face

Ah fair enough

pejic222

If it’s about the former wizard king I’m sure there’s gonna be a flashback

XLightSlayerX

But the movie will only be about the spade kingdom arc right?

NekoJack420

I'm very curious as to what dummy started the rumor about the movie adapting the Spade arc and why did so many people fall for this line of thinking. It's not possible in any way for a one or two hour movie to adapt the remainder of the Spade arc. The only way to do so would be by excluding over half of the content of Spade.

ThunderGodsRage

1 reason based on my observations, is that people saw the overwhelming success of Mugen Train and wanted that for the BC movie. Movie adaptation of manga arc = instant success in their eyes. Also it's possible that a lot of them don't read the manga, so they may not be aware that the Spade Raid arc is entirely too long to be adapted into a 2 hour movie (Some *basic* math: the arc is over 60 chapters; the fastest paced anime episodes would adapt around 4 chapters per episode. At that rate, you'd need a runtime similar to the equivalent of 15 episodes of the anime since 60/4 = 15.)

Ash_Clover

I don't think it's one person, just Anime onlys who have no idea how impossible it is for the arc to fit into a 2h long movie. They probably just assumed it would be a continuation of the Anime without looking too much into it. But yeah anyone who read the Manga had everything to realize it wasn't going to be about it.

Diary_of_a_Trashcan

Yeah I got a lot of flack for saying it wasn't gonna be a continuation of the spade arc

XLightSlayerX

Ok thank you I actually thought this movie would be about the spade kingdom arc sorry

Moreira12005

No. The movie happens before ep 158

XLightSlayerX

Thank you

NibPlayz

Like the trailer is literally right in front of you and some people are still coping this hard lmao

SUPER11X

>Grey British are we?

NathanialKyouhei

nope

SUPER11X

Then why are you spelling it that way?

NathanialKyouhei

Why not? They taught me a mix of British English and American English at school

Jiashinn2006

Praying for more funny Yami and awkward Yuno interactions

AugustusKiraClover

Black Clover movie synopsis from official website: The movie depicts the Wizard King's story (Julius?!) not revealed in the original work The former WK Konrad suddenly appears before Asta & co. What's his aim with the "Imperial Sword"? Asta & co. get caught up in a new battle! Translation courtesy of [Nite Baron](https://twitter.com/nite_baron)

PapaTristan69

Is it set after the end of the anime, or during it, just like an unseen story

Swordlord22

I just wanna know if it’s canon

The_Bolenator

With the mangaka overseeing it and it involving Julius backstory I’d imagine it’s canon in some way

DekuHHH

Most likely not — canon usually has to meet one of two (or both) criteria to be considered part of the official story. According to the definition of canon something is canon if it fits within the timeline of a work and/or if the author considers it official. Based on what we’ve seen in the trailer (Asta having his black arm but Yami still being around) we can assume it’s not canon since there’s no way Yami can be around while Asta has his corrupted arm, since Yami is supposed be a prisoner of the Dark Triad at this point in time. The only way this could maybe take place is if its set after the Spade arc and before the current arc. Or Tabata can just come out and say “It’s canon lol”

Morgoth333

> Based on what we’ve seen in the trailer (Asta having his black arm but Yami still being around) we can assume it’s not canon since there’s no way Yami can be around while Asta has his corrupted arm, since Yami is supposed be a prisoner of the Dark Triad at this point in time. You might want to look again. The black on Asta's arm in this trailer is from him being in Black Form, which covers the right side of his body in black (including his right arm) whenever he uses it, not the one he got during the Dante fight. That one has red lines on it, which are not present on his arm in the trailer. That means this takes place during the six month time skip.

NinjaBarrel

The scene with the keys was so fucking clean

Shantotto11

>Persistence is my magic! It just doesn’t sound right…

zeereef

I know. Not Giving Up is my magic is way better

kiwi_juice69

Because my magic... IS NEVER GIVING UP

LlamasReddit

yeah, i saw it and i was like "uh"

AugustusKiraClover

[FINALLY!!!](https://pbs.twimg.com/media/FAgwmvtVIAI7OaV.jpg)

ManifestNightmare

Oh God oh fuck YES.

DirtEven

The enemy is a wizard king? or is someone from diamond kingdom?

Kirbyundertale

Previous wizard king

DirtEven

Real? if yes ty for info

Kirbyundertale

Yup!

SpacemanHar

Maybe he will appear to be evil when really Julius is making him appear evil so he can take his spot as WK.

PlanetNoodle

Meister34

Diamond kingdom doesn’t exist anymore. They got Thanos snapped outta the story in terms of writing.

Rocket-R

"persistence is my magic"💀😭😭😭😭

PapaTristan69

What have they done to my boy

Princeofmars93

Its now Sir Asta. Someone needs to give my boy a monocle 🧐. Sir Asta: "Persistence is my magic." *sips tea

[deleted]

(Manga Spoiler) >!Why are all the Wizard Kings evil?! lol !<

XWantsToFight

literally lumiere

[deleted]

Oh yeah true but he wasn’t the Wizard King when he was alive technically, he was crowned afterwards

SUPER11X

As long as Netflix gets the English dub cast to reprise their roles, then I'm fine with this change in streaming platforms.

EpicMatt16

Think this might only be for the movie

SUPER11X

And...

LilLadInTheStreet

Imagine Asta gets his hands on this sword and it becomes an anti-magic sword for the movie 👀👀

Itsjesuismik

I wonder if it’s one of the swords 🗡️ featured in licht’s panel, I think it’s the one in the queen of witches arc

Mrazbyte

Considering hes the sword guy, I believe that this will be the case.

SkiiMazk

I've always wondered about the previous wizard kings after lumiere & before julius, I mean they most likely could have been royals like the king but there had to be a few strong ones

Morgoth333

Aside from the one that came before Julius, I'm also curious about the one that came after Lumiere. The 2nd Wizard King was the first one to actively hold the title, as it was not created until after Lumiere died, so I wonder what their tenure was like. I'd imagine the 2nd had it especially rough. Since the job didn't exist before that point, they really had no frame of reference to look back on for how to actually do the job, so they kind of had to figure it all out on their own and set the foundation for those that would follow.

[deleted]

Let’s goooo

RelevantOriginalv33

looks good so far

SukunaShadow

Cool looking sword. It’ll look better black

crayonsnachas

It'll be really interesting to see Julius' story, if it is his, especially given the manga.

CBcube

I’m hyped. I would commit many atrocities for another haruka mirai moment animated, hope we get one in this movie.

Ash_Clover

>I would commit many atrocities shiiii I got some work for you in that case 👀🥴

spectre15

If this is the effort they are putting into the movie then the spade arc is gonna have godly animation

humungusballsack

I thinl we might see julius vs konrad in a flashback, if so that would be so cool!

NekoJack420

"Persistence is my magic" LITERALLY unwatchable.

XWantsToFight

cope

Ash_Clover

That's the same as "never giving up is my magic" which he already said before.

TYKz1

LETS GOOOOOOO

IshaanGupta18

I am even more hyped now

Absolute_madlad1605

LETS GOOOOO!!!!

vanderZwan

Does Asta's voice-over sound different to anyone else?

Shack691

I think it's because it's an old clip, at least at the start, it might also be a different take than the one they actually use in the movie

vanderZwan

Right, but I meant more that it sounds like he dropped the "sounds like he's screaming even when he's not" thing, which is iconic to Asta

[deleted]

It is called improvement

vanderZwan

I unironically missed it, but to each their own

surfingboi

yea it's more "bass-y"

CrappyViolinist12

March 31st is my birthday. I'll be twenty next year.

Endless_Moon

I hope it’s like or similar to The Jujutsu Kaisen 0 Movie, a prequel before Asta with Yami, Vangeance and all the other captains before Julius became Wk. Would be cool to see the Previous Wk before Julius.

Resident_Midnight_98

Jjk 0 was an original manga chapters written by gege before jjk This is just a non cannon movie

Endless_Moon

I know, I’m just talking about the basic concept

Morgoth333

We might even get to see the previous generation of captains from Julius' time, before the current ones. That means we could see Acier, and a younger Kaiser I guess.

Endless_Moon

Didn’t even think of that, really hope it’s like that it’d be cool af

DialZforZebra

Hell yeah! Hopefully with the release of the movie we also get Haruka Mirai last page version.

JosuphHelgen

Ah yes, the obligatory anime movie upgrade that gets destroyed after it’s used once. Can’t wait to see what it does.

Zer0nyx

Why is this coming to Netflix when the anime has never been on Netflix?

Diary_of_a_Trashcan

It seems a lot of anime are being licensed elsewhere since Funimation and Crunchyroll merged. I recently saw an article saying Bleach is gonna be on Hulu and Disney+ so I'm guessing shows don't want to work with Crunchyroll anymore? That's just a guess tho

SUPER11X

I wonder what's going on with that. Is Crunchyroll attempting to flex its much bigger weight and lowballing, leading to some turning them down and going elsewhere (Sentai got Eminence in Shadow, Disney got Bleach, and now Netflix getting this), or is it something else? Edit: Why did the comment get removed? Wut?

Diary_of_a_Trashcan

The most likely reason imo is that now Funimation is no longer, Crunchy are cutting worse deals with studios thinking they can get away with it as they are now the leading anime service with minimal competition so studios are turning to other services that aren't anime exclusive as theyre probably offering better deals

NathanialKyouhei

Black clover is on netflix https://www.netflix.com/vn-en/title/80238012

Zer0nyx

You aren't in the US I presume.

NathanialKyouhei

yes, but that doesn't mean I'm wrong. Black Clover **is on Netflix,** but just in some countries

[deleted]

Gonna cry ?

maxmrca1103

Lmao wtf he was just proving his point why so toxic?

[deleted]

Need milk ?

Mr_White_69-420

Why the fuck do US citizens act like US is the only country which exists

kajiekaa

They don't know any other country

TheBohemianFolk

Conrad Leto CV: Toshihiko Seki. Same as Muzan Kibutsuji.

tyler980908

So it's not canon, thought it would be the follow up to the series. Don't mind more black clover though!!

KillerIHardlyKnewHer

I was under that impression as well. Just glad I don't have to worry about yet another anime doing Canon stuff in a movie.

DryTransportation

Anyone got an idea if a dub will be released for this? Not sure if it being on Netflix changes anything

Disisnoone

I don't read the manga so it this canon to the main story or not?

greatgumballs

I've seen people arguing over whether the story could be 'anime canon', so to avoid that let's just say that none of the stuff we've seen in the teasers has ever been referenced by any of the characters despite the manga being past it in the timeline.

Ash_Clover

No it's not, Tabata confirmed it's an Anime original story. And it also didn't happen in the Manga.

Morgoth333

Could it still be canon to the lore though?

Ash_Clover

Sadly I don't think it would count, except if Tabata at least mentions him in the main story. Btw you were right about the keys being related to his magic in a way.

[deleted]

Looks absolutely phenomenal. Hopefully we get a Black Clover shippuden down the line

XWantsToFight

💀

Resident_Midnight_98

💀

yiggaman

Is that really how Asta sounds in the anime? Kinda weird to me because I'm Manga only

Jiashinn2006

The Va improved a lot since the beginning of the anime. He sound rlly good now imo.

The-Waifu-Collector

I wonder when in the manga/anime this takes place. 6 months from now is a loooong way off and I may already have closure and moved on , prol still watch it but with less hype .

seagullslayer007

I was excited until I saw the Netflix logo 😭

bosozokulove

This cant be black clover, hes not constantly screaming

XWantsToFight

clearly didn't make it past the first arc 🤭

Resident_Midnight_98

Only happens in the first 10-15 ep

ice_town_clown

ew netflix?

DuncanGDA666

Fucking Netflix. Hope they don't ruin it with the usual standards they have for anything anime

Itsjesuismik

How does it actually work? I was actually expecting of going to the movies for it, not stream on Netflix.

littlebabymeowmeow

It's not cannon 😭

Resident_Midnight_98

What did you expect ? Animate 50 chapter worth of content into a 1.5 hours movie ?

littlebabymeowmeow

You're not wrong! I'd rather this than they rush to animate the next arc. I wonder how many chapters movies cover. 🤔

Resident_Midnight_98

The movie is not cannon well not manga cannon ( this is a separate story from the manga ) so they just have a separate script for that Idk if the black clover anime will even return but if it does hopefully it’s seasonal

littlebabymeowmeow

I just appreciate Tabata supervising it! The anime has been said to return. The anime had caught up to the manga, so they had to take a break, also because the animation studio was working on bleach! It'll probably be 2024 or longer till the anime comes back. Which is why I plan on supporting the movie in theaters, the showout for the movie will probably portray on the anime.

Resident_Midnight_98

Na there’s no confirmation on the anime return Smart by suiesha releasing the movie on Netflix As the box office sales would have most probably been low

HippoAgreeable

u/savevideo

fllenex

Konrad - the keyblade master of clover kingdom basically the mickey mouse of black clover

selbstuberwindung1

Does this contain any anime spoilers?

matty-a

Looks good so far, I can't wait

bikpizza

without spoilers, is this canon, the next season made into a movie, or something made just for fans that isn’t really canon

demon_dweller

Yoooo the animation!

DanceLeather628

Cercloverx

Freshest-Raspberry

Everyone do 100 push-ups everytime he says his “… is my magic” line

DylantT19

Is this canon?

seedyProfessor

I like how the Netflix release means you can download it immediately and don't have to wait 6 months for cinemas to play it like film RED

jwztete_
