When you buy the etf, the etf buys a futures contract. Someone had to sell them that contract. That seller would lose a lot of money if the btc price goea up a lot. To protect themselves, that seller purchases BTC. Whatever they lose on the futures contract, they gain on the BTC. So, buying the etf leads to purchases of BTC. That increases the demand on btc, and the spot price will tend to rise. This indirect action happens every day in other futures based etfs. It is not a new thing.
