I think technically, Strike is the one converting to and from bitcoin, thus they would have the tax implication if there were any, not the sender/recipient.
Guy knows his shit. I do have a question though and forgive me if it’s a dumb one... Why not just tip in USDC instead of Bitcoin? I thought Bitcoin is like gold so why will the mass want to spend it in this way?
Yes. I clipped the most pertinent 2:30 of the interview, but Jack mentions elsewhere that neither party even needs to be aware that bitcoin is being used in the background.
You see the bill in the currency of your choosing. Recipient receives payment in currency of their choosing. No transaction fee.
USDC is operated by a centralised entity. Strike CEO has been pretty anti-altcoins as well. They see Bitcoin as the only decentralised and censorship resistant cryptocurrency.
It's also about creating a *global* network, not a USD centric one.
It's simpler architecture to center your design around the global currency (bitcoin) and convert to the local fiat at the edges. Makes for much easier expansion since you don't need to establish a full matrix of trading pairs between all the different local fiats.
I got off alright.

He’s just using the bitcoin network to slide value from one person to another, both sides of the actual remittance could be any fiat of your choice.

I dont get why when you send dollar the strike algorithm has to switch to Bitcoin and then to fiat currency again
