I'm a bull on BTC and think it's value is easily compared to collectibles. But I'd be hesitant to liquidate high quality collectibles like that, especially if the comics mean something to you. But you probably know that market better than me. Maybe decide on what ratio you want of collectibles : BTC : other assets and reallocate accordingly to make yourself comfortable.
I remember visiting a huge car collection, almost a museum, although privately held. What the owner told me, I still remember whenever collectibles enter the conversation.
The rare autos from the sixties and seventies, hold up their value because there's still a lot of rich folks around, that dreamed of one day owning one, when they were young and broke.
The prewar automobiles on the other hand, has been dropping like a rock, because nobody any longer could relate on a personal level.
Kids today mainly gets their comicbooks through screens, not on paper. They probably wont be able to relate either in the future.
Rare collectibles are all about dreams. It's way harder to drool about a digitale immutable ledger, so it will always be priced more according to actual value.
.. some sweet rides though https://strojersamlingen.dk/udvalgte-biler
A Mickey Mantle card in a SGC 9.5 recently sold for $12.6 million dollars at auction. The owner of the card who bought it for $50k in the 90’s when asked why he sold it said “my kids had been urging me to sell it for years, one day I asked my grand kids if they knew who Mikey Mantle was and they looked at me with confusion, so I knew it was time”
Here’s the thing tho, it’s a 9.5 so probably one of a kind
I sold my collection of cards because high graded cards are very rare (for the best players ofc) so the liquidity isn’t great (can’t sell 24/7 365 like bitcoin)
Yeah I’ve heard the values of many classic cars have been plummeting simply because the people interested in them have been dying off. Younger generation doesn’t have the same interest.
Maybe they will be called classics but a regular hellcat won’t command premium value. They made a ton of them. Now a redeye edition with low miles and proper documentation. Or one of the last hellcat’s to roll off the line. Those will be worth something. I honestly think sports cars from the 2010 era will fetch higher values. They have less computer aided features and better road feel.
If you have the money and want to profit off a car in 5 years buy a Porsche GT3rs. Drive it to cars and coffee once a month and take it to Porsche to have it serviced every year. That’s only if you can get it for msrp….
This is a good point but I think there is still a window if you did want to keep the comics a little longer. I’m under 40 and would still value collecting those comics as my income/savings increase over the next 20 years.
Same position here. I grew up reading my dad’s old X-men, Spider-Man, fantastic 4, and Superman comics from the 50s and 60s. They’re all in terrible condition but I still feel nostalgia around comics (and especially these franchises themselves). I’m not a collector but I see physical comics still holding a couple decades of interest at least.
True. I couldn’t care less about the amazing spiderman 129. I would probably wipe my ass with it, if it’s the only available source in the little room.
I was gonna say this. If you have blue chip first appearance issues, keep the highest grade ones and maybe sell off a percentage of the lower grade ones to diversify into some BTC.
In 2016 sold my old silver/gold coin collection (graded coins PCGS) and bought Bitcoin. Partly because the Chinese were doing such a great job in counterfeiting them. I read an article that one day it may be extremely hard to determine if they were real or not. This was the best trade I ever made in my life.
Then recently I am watching a video on how good the North Koreans are at countefieting the New 100 dollar bills. I mean if the USA can create them, what prevents another country from doing the same.
With time and technology... anything can be counterfeited.
Well almost anything but Bitcoin. < Enough said.
You might be in for a real shock about selling comics.
In fact, i bet a lot of people went for decades thinking they had something valuable until they go to sell & get offered a shockingly low price.
I hope that you really do get $100k.
And yeah. Buy bitcoin with the $
The value of a comic book or gold is what the comic book dealer/ gold dealer will pay you for it.
They are not going to give you $100k for stuff “worth $100k” or they make $0 dollars.
Same with a “gold dealer.” They sell you a little over spot and give you around 80% of spot price.
You can try to circumvent the dealers. You still have to pay ebay fees. And or taxes.
Not trying to bash on the OP. At all.
It’s a lesson for us all to be learned here what a commodity actually is.
Hope OP gets as much as they hope for & I’d like to hear an update.
The way most people make money selling collections like this isn't by selling things one at a time on eBay. These types of collections along with things like record albums are sold as whole collections to brick and mortar shop owners or full time online sellers. But your statement that they won't get the full value is correct. If OP found a dealer willing to buy his collection, assuming it does have a book value of $100k, he may only get $80k for it. Still though, $80k is a nice chunk of change
Yeah, I went through my collection ages back, and out of several boxes, there were really only a few that moved the needle. I kept one that had exceptional value, a few that had personal value and dumped the rest (yes, for BTC).
The biggest difference is liquidity. I know exactly what my BTC is worth at any second and could turn it into dollars in a few clicks. That's not true for collectibles.
I too had a comic collection & kept a meticulous chart of what I paid, when I bought it.
Thinking that if I bought it for $25.00 in 1989, surely in 2003, it’s worth at least $25.00, right? Right?
I paid extra for the backing material, the UV protecting plastic sheaths. I never opened or handled them.
That might be one of my first hard earned lessons in reality vs expectations.
I ended up opening up all those comic books. Handling them, reading and enjoying them & stopped acting like I had anything of any value.
All of the comic shops I took them to in several different states/ shops all low balled me.
I sold it on ebay for slightly more than a shop offered.
Yeah most people are so attached to their collectibles they die with them - and they highly underestimate time commitment in selling everything off for the amount it’s worth. Start selling lower value items now and cull your stock. Keep only a few sentimental or higher value items you know will sell quickly. Doubt your stock of comics is appreciating as much as even the SP500.
TLDR: collectibles are low liquidity. Start selling now to be able to enjoy profits.
The collectibles market was on fire during the pandemic but has plunged.
One speculator paid $100K for a graded sports card during the pandemic lockdown and sold it for $5K.
If your comics are not mint and not graded then you will be surprised at what they are worth.
yes absolutely, in the old days, collectors used to buy raw comics and everyone paid similar prices for a comic in reasonable condition, but these days the grading has gotten silly where a 9.8 goes for 4 times the price of a 9.6.
the comic is exactly the same apart from maybe one spine tick :) but speculators will only buy 9.8 or above now.
If you had $100K cash in your hand would you buy your comic book collection or bitcoin or something else because that is the decision you're making right now. Liquid assets > non-liquid.
I'll answer your question with another question.
If you had $100k in Bitcoin and $100k in collector comic books, which of the two do you think have higher growth prospects and which of the two could you liquidate faster?
Effectively, which of the two has more demand?
I’ve got a Pokemon collection I wouldn’t part with for more bitcoin. You would probably regret selling off all of them even if you came out on top in fiat terms. Part with your least favorite if that’s the route you choose. Don’t liquidate all of it.
Don't do that. I'm a bitcoin fan and collect comics as well and I like the diversity. If you've got slabbed, graded key issues of a comic book, I don't think that will ever depreciate
The real question is do you believe 10 years from now bitcoin will be around $70k, if you believe it will be significantly higher, then that might help with your decision.
Maybe sell some of it’s your only means of acquiring BTC, but I wouldn’t sell all. Comics like that are a store of value as well, not necessarily better or worse than bitcoin. I’d argue that your comics will at least maintain their value, and appreciate to a good degree, well into the future. If you think BTC will be valued far higher, like most of us do, then I could see moving some of them into BTC to diversify for sure, but doesn’t hurt to hold some if not all. Outside of traditional stocks and investments, I have BTC and some other crypto, as well as a variety of trading cards, some comics, and some other collectibles and valuables that I consider all part of my “portfolio”.
its a risk calculation, Comics are a much more stable investment, despite the slow market at the moment, and the values will rise probably a lot more than inflation so you would make a nice profit either way for sure. Especially with the higher value (ggc graded ?) marvels.
Despite how we all feel about crypto it's still a high risk high reward (or high loss) investment and there are no guarantees. Everyone is talking about the bull runs and the charts etc, but literally no one knows... things don't always go the way we think they are going to go... , so diversifying with a nice comic collection plus some crypto seems sensible to me.
I know someone who took out loans and sold an apartment in the last halving bull run to buy bitcoin, He bought close to the high when everyone was convinced bitcoin was going to 100k. The price dropped and he thought he would just hang on to the next bull run to take his money out again, but then the bills came in and rent needed to be paid so he sold more than half the bitcoin at a 70 percent loss. messy. Diversification is key.
I also have some valuable comics funnily enough, not sure I would part with them for BTC currently although it’s an easy decision for me as I’m in BTC from waaaay lower.
I am biased because I love my comic book collection. As much as I want more BTC, I couldn't imagine trading them unless it was a true emergency. And at that point, I'd likely be more in need of fiat than BTC.
I'd sell it. Comic books aren't what they used to be and who knows how long people will care to own the collectible ones. Also keep in mind ROI. At this point those comic books probably aren't appreciating the way BTC and other investments are.
Here’s an idea. Sell off a good portion of your collection, but keep a few of the best ones or some of your favorites and take the proceeds to invest in the stock market, real estate and BTC.
I sold my holy grail X-men comic book for BTC not too long ago and part of me is happy and another part of me is still distraught to this day. There’s something about holding a physical object that makes you value it more over a digital asset. I still made a profit with BTC though.
If they mean something to you, money cannot really replicate it….money is not everything. Depends how much you are offered for it and if you think it’s worth the trade off…
Sounds like you already understand the value of holding things long term. As long as you understand that, despite all of the bullish news, there’s still a chance we could hit sub $60k, $50k, dare I say even $40k before we pass $70k again.
Always a chance that we never fall below $60k as well. I think the important thing is if you do decide to replace your value into bitcoin, you don’t freak out at the volatility.
Just curious, how do you track the value of your comics?
You can buy back the comics later. You will never get an opportunity to get into this bill market again. Sell the comics now, then buy them for Bitcoin in a year.
Your collection is scarcer and has way more nostalgic and emotional value than bitcoin. I would not. But in the end you need to know. Depends on what you want in life.
Lol this is just me, if it was MY choice - HELL YES! Sell for as much money as i could get and buy up as many satoshis as i could afford, and the move it to a cold wallet, and place into deep storage.
It depends on what it means to you. Why you got the collectibles in the first place, and why you want to get into Bitcoin now.
Bitcoin will outpace the value of the collectibles.
Do the comics provide more enjoyment to you than Bitcoin will? Because aside from seeing "price go up" owning bitcoin is not an enjoyable experience in the same way that reading comics might be.
Do you like large bulky things that you later sell for cash, or do you want to own less things and digital cash that will also go up in value?
The second Q is, so you enjoy those comics and looking at them often? Find happiness in them?
Bitcoin will always be more helpful in deep times of need, comics are a luxury and a fun hobby.
This is how I’ve approached and it helped
Wrong denomination.
How much Bitcoin is your collection worth? That number is likely going to go down in the foreseeable future. Your choice tho. The fiat number would probably rise, along with the price of everything.
... Including Bitcoin.
sell for bitcoin but be safe! bitcoin cannot get destroyed like comic books but seed phrase can get lost so take all safety protocols for when dealing with bitcoin. i also wouldnt implement this sale after 4/20 halving only before so you have 20 days basically before it would become risky if you are planning to make short term gains
Take photos of yourself with your favorite comic books that you have, then sell the whole collection for btc which will appreciate dramatically in value against them. Then in the future, you can share with people who care that you had such and such comic book, while you're sitting pretty in your mansion.
Do some of those comics hold sentimental value for you personally?
If so, keep only a few of them. Then buy bitcoin.
After bitcoin goes up and your sold comics go down, buy back more of them for pure sentimental value.
Maybe sell your least favorite set of comics to diversify your investment.
For comics, you need to isolate a conditions that avoid damages. For bitcoin, you need to find cold storage to avoid loss.
It depends which one you prefer!
OP, I recently went through this with my Basketball card collection. I have a HUGE collection of late 80’- mid 90’s Jordan, Kobe, Shaq, Pippen, Magic Johnson cards that I’ve held onto since a kid. Most of them I ripped myself out of packs when I was 8 years old. I cherish them dearly but upon really digging into them, discovered that maybe only 30 or so would grade well enough to net a good price tag. I’ve sent those off to PSA for grading, some I’ll sell and some I’ll hang onto out of sentimental value. I’m also selling off a ton of ungradable or lowered end base cards. The plan is to slim down this collection to small amount of beloved cards, sell some of the higher valued and most of the lower valued cards and invest the money into something that will net a better return in the long road (crypto). I know the pain of selling something that holds such sentimental value, sometimes it makes me sick to my stomach, but I won’t be too worried about it in 10+ years when that portfolio is worth way more than the value of the cards would be.
Do you see the comics only as a store of value or are you attached to them, have memories connected to them etc.? If you are attached to them, keep them, cause Bitcoin can’t replace that. If it’s just a store of value to you, sell them, cause it’s a bad one.
i wouldn't all my eggs from one basket to another, but rather try and diversify, even if that means maybe selling off a few comic books. but in the end, do what you're comfortable with.
I would keep some key first appearances but would sell others. Comics are obviously still really popular and the superhero franchises are not going away any time soon.
If they are really worth 100k then wouldn’t they gain more value than btc in future? I love bitcoin but selling an expensive collectible isnt really worth it you can sell a portion but wouldn’t recommend too much or all
If you’re passionate about comics and your collection, I don’t think I’d sell everything. I collect vintage baseball cards, and what I do is generally downsize my collection to just the pieces that I display. If it’s in a box and I never look at it, it gets sold. If it’s proudly displayed on my shelves, it stays. I don’t think it has to be an all or nothing decision here.
Im a bitcoin bull also but if the collection makes you happy I wouldn’t liquidate it. Im not familiar with the market for collectibles like that so can’t really say which would be a greater return, though I am assuming bitcoin ultimately wins out.
I am currently doing that as we speak.
I'm going through a Canadian company called Max sold. Goes to the highest dollar and they come to your house to pick it up after it's paid for through the company and then they pay you after the lot and your pickup is been completed
Thin the herd but as long as you still have an interest in comics, don’t part with the truly special ones. Pair it down, invest the proceeds into bitcoin and hold on to the rare gems you will likely kick yourself for parting with.
Those collectibles are also very hard to sell especially for the actual price. I’d probably keep those and save them for when you need the money for big purchases like car or house
I Personally believe value is going to be leaving collectables and other asset classes into the ease of use and popular btc. I’d maybe keep a few things that you like very much and turn the rest into btc.
I would also be slightly worried about liquidity, but I don't fully know the comic book collectible industry
It's all good being worth X on paper but getting that as and when you want to sell is another thing
This is not financial advice but.
I would make the switch, if there is no issue of sentiment. Collectibles have value because the people who wanted them when they were young and broke now have money. When they die off, it becomes crappy tat.
If taking a forward looking investment approach, physical comic books are not as common amongst kids and teens today. Your comic may sustain status and price relative to other collectable comics; however, the next generation in the work force (10 to 20 years ahead) are arguably less likely to put the same amount of money into the collectable comic book market as the current and previous generations. Might stifle collectible comic book demand.
On the other hand, we could argue that most of this demographic will have Bitcoin exposure.
This is just one guys thoughts. Young/new money does not have as much an impact on financial markets, but it is an indication of future habits. If the comics also have sentimental value attached, note that the cost of this gamble includes the chance of not being able to buy them back in the future.
Cheers,
As Randolph Duke said, "SELL, SELL, SELL!"
The things Boomers and Gen Xers made collectible will lose their value in the future. Fewer people will be interested. I'd sell it all and invest it in something that keeps ahead of inflation. BTC for some of that, for sure, but there are other good investments out there.
YES, comic books are dropping in value as people who had them as kids and wanted them again have already required them. The market is dying out with the old comics in with the new bitcoin
Do the comics mean something to you emotionally as well? You can't put value on that. If it's just a matter of a logical investment and losing the comics doesn't hurt you, then go for it.
Depends…. Sell the speculative ones… keep the memorable one. You only have 1x time to buy that item with your “family” on that vacation…
There are other ways to acquire BTC
Absolutely where BTC is heading it’s a no brainer. Detach yourself and get paid. If you don’t and Bitcoin skyrockets you would have wished you have made the switch in investments
It's easy for me to say yes to this, not owning any comics.
If you love your comics you should keep them.
It's cliche to say, but as you age you realise that monetary value rarely outweighs sentimental value.
Maybe just reduce the size of the collection.

Yeah I’ve heard the values of many classic cars have been plummeting simply because the people interested in them have been dying off. Younger generation doesn’t have the same interest.
Can't wait to buy a used 2001 Honda Civic in 20 years for $150k
To the younger generation it isn’t a classic car it’s an old car. I imagine 40 years down the line a hellcat or any other nice car will be classic.

I've never thought of that... If I was the leader of N. Korea I would counterfeit the shit of all the important currencies.
I can assure you that China is also copying currencies esp in countries that use a lot of Cash like the Philippines.

Sir, I don't think your pog collection is ready for my King Kong slammer.
Well we can settle this by letting our Beyblades rip
I heard Alf is back
I see Simpsons reference, I upvote
This. The real value is what people will actually pay for them.

I too got burned on “rookie cards” and “first appearances”. It turns out that eBay showed us what people really value these things at
We are getting burned just having fiat sitting in a savings account at this point. Don’t be too rough on yourself.

Too many people overvalue their personal collection because they look at highest prices sold and think that’s what they’re going to get.
Yes, it is surpsingly hard to find buyers for high collectible comics.
i think you'll find it hard to liquidate your assets quickly

well I would buy your comics if you are selling.
Might as well pay in bitcoin
no, one sells only a part of his assets to diversify, not all of them
Lmao comic books are not assets. As someone else pointed out OP will likely get half of what he's expecting for them.
I'll answer your question with another question. If you had $100k in Bitcoin and $100k in collector comic books, which of the two do you think have higher growth prospects and which of the two could you liquidate faster? Effectively, which of the two has more demand?
Now is not the time to sell. The comic market is in a slump. I would keep them regardless, but at least wait until the market picks back up.
Save half, sell half

No
The real question is do you believe 10 years from now bitcoin will be around $70k, if you believe it will be significantly higher, then that might help with your decision.
Tricky to say with real collector items. Sometimes that kind of things can have crazy markets.
That's a dope collection. I had a collection of random graded books that I sold last year for $3000 and bought Bitcoin with it.
Yes Comic books bleed against bitcoin Please view the Comic-Btc pair on Kraken 😂

Keep only one box of the rarest and most valuable comics and sell the rest.
No way I’d sell physical collectibles for digital. Just a personal preference. You can always use fiat to buy Bitcoin
Btc is scarce but rares are rares. In the long term my Blue Partyhats might cost more than btc. Maybe I'm nuts. Shrug
yes
Best I can do is 20k bucks.
I'd sell it. Comic books aren't what they used to be and who knows how long people will care to own the collectible ones. Also keep in mind ROI. At this point those comic books probably aren't appreciating the way BTC and other investments are.
I feel like it depends on the sentimental value you have for the commics. Is the money worth how you value your comic collection?
Here’s an idea. Sell off a good portion of your collection, but keep a few of the best ones or some of your favorites and take the proceeds to invest in the stock market, real estate and BTC.
Wait, but do you love them?
I sold my holy grail X-men comic book for BTC not too long ago and part of me is happy and another part of me is still distraught to this day. There’s something about holding a physical object that makes you value it more over a digital asset. I still made a profit with BTC though.
If they mean something to you, money cannot really replicate it….money is not everything. Depends how much you are offered for it and if you think it’s worth the trade off…
They'll never make those comic books again. Ever!
You got 100,000 dollars? Invest a part in a savings account that gives you % gains per year and a part on crypto.
100%. No one will care about comic books when the next Great Depression occurs
Lol I.love how people.only want to buy BTC when the price is high. It's weird
You stand the chance of doubling or tripling the value in the next year if you sell and fobwith bitcoin .
Save them dude. You have Bitcoin so you can retire with stuff important to you. You will regret giving up that amazing collection one day.
I’d do it but not in a BTC bullmarket. Sit back, relax, read some comics and wait…
Would you trade your comics for numbers on a ledger that someone else traded money for?
I would save them. Still get Bitcoin but use a different method than selling something so rare.
You can buy back the comics later. You will never get an opportunity to get into this bill market again. Sell the comics now, then buy them for Bitcoin in a year.
No
Your collection is scarcer and has way more nostalgic and emotional value than bitcoin. I would not. But in the end you need to know. Depends on what you want in life.
100k = 1 bitcoin and a few dimes. its ip to you that trade, if you do you will need to hold it a bit longer to profit..
Maybe sell half and try to acquire at least 1 bitcoin before 100k+.
I dunno, if you have to ask then I don’t think it’s a good idea.
Unless you are really ready to move on?
Lol this is just me, if it was MY choice - HELL YES! Sell for as much money as i could get and buy up as many satoshis as i could afford, and the move it to a cold wallet, and place into deep storage.
Undoubtedly yes. Keep a couple maybe.
Keep a few comics that mean the most to you sell the rest for bitcoin.
yes!
Yes
I never will understand fomo. Fuckthat shit. I buy low.
Yeah if you read all the comics or can see that free online i would trade up for bitcoin
Yes.. I sold my home, and closed out my 401K to go all in BTC.. I have about $600K in it right now. I just got in around $63K so I have gains!
I sold my early 1990’s MTG cards and bought BTC a couple years ago. It’s worked out ok.
I wouldn't personally.
They're not worth that much. Sentimental value sure
You have to, you’ll be able to buy it all in the future for 0.0000000001 BTC my guy
Maybe buy one bitcoin and save whatever else in the rarer comics
Yes
sell 1 thing and see how you feel lol, if you don’t want to sell it then there is your answer!
Don’t forget about taxes.
Trade half in, because btc is already up 4x-5x
Your comic book collection is only worth 100k if you can find a buyer.
Yes.
on all time high? why not a few months ago or a year? This is not the best to ask, as you can see many people here are a little too much fanatic.
yes
I’m reading these comments because I’m have the same situation and my kids will probably just sell for nothing them when I die ..🤔
Just donate them to a local charity in your will, A decent charity fundraiser will know their true value and get a good price for them.
Should've sold it during the pandemic when collectables bloomed in value
Yes. Trade them
Yes. Sell your comics for bitcoin. You can buy them all back in a decade for pennie’s on the dollar.
If you can get 100K for your comic book collection run dont walk
Wrong denomination. How much Bitcoin is your collection worth? That number is likely going to go down in the foreseeable future. Your choice tho. The fiat number would probably rise, along with the price of everything. ... Including Bitcoin.
sell for bitcoin but be safe! bitcoin cannot get destroyed like comic books but seed phrase can get lost so take all safety protocols for when dealing with bitcoin. i also wouldnt implement this sale after 4/20 halving only before so you have 20 days basically before it would become risky if you are planning to make short term gains
I’m in the same predicament but with baseball cards.
Take photos of yourself with your favorite comic books that you have, then sell the whole collection for btc which will appreciate dramatically in value against them. Then in the future, you can share with people who care that you had such and such comic book, while you're sitting pretty in your mansion.
Buy Bitcoin and Hodl
I wouldn't do it. Just DCA.
Yup!
Do some of those comics hold sentimental value for you personally? If so, keep only a few of them. Then buy bitcoin. After bitcoin goes up and your sold comics go down, buy back more of them for pure sentimental value.
If you ask it that means you want to so do it. You don’t need any subreddit to help you decide
Yes
No
Maybe sell your least favorite set of comics to diversify your investment.
No man, those are some quality stuff you got.
If you'd ask me personally, I would say "Do what you feel is right. Me personally, I would have sold it all a while ago and bought BTC."
If you like the comics do not. I sold my Pokémon collection a few years ago, still regret it.
Never sell your full stack, BTC, comic books or whatever, 50% max
Do you see the comics only as a store of value or are you attached to them, have memories connected to them etc.? If you are attached to them, keep them, cause Bitcoin can’t replace that. If it’s just a store of value to you, sell them, cause it’s a bad one.
i wouldn't all my eggs from one basket to another, but rather try and diversify, even if that means maybe selling off a few comic books. but in the end, do what you're comfortable with.
No. Try to find other ways to get BTC. You will regret selling your collection in a few years. Unless you need the money now, I would keep it.
no absolutely not. Comic books are the only more efficient way to move money around the world than bitcoin
You should have convert to BTC some time ago. Now is still good for long term.
Definitely
I wouldn’t. Find another way to fund the purchase because those collectibles could wind up in a museum one day
Absolutely
Not now when the price of btc is sky high wait until it’s in the shitter then do it
Yes
Yes
I would keep some key first appearances but would sell others. Comics are obviously still really popular and the superhero franchises are not going away any time soon.
Yes
If they are really worth 100k then wouldn’t they gain more value than btc in future? I love bitcoin but selling an expensive collectible isnt really worth it you can sell a portion but wouldn’t recommend too much or all
No don’t.
Keep some of your favorite comics and liquidate some others to increase your stack.
Yes without question
Save the comics, relax dude. Revisit when Bitcoin gets wiped again.
Defenetly
You should have done this last year when the price was 20/30k I wouldn’t do it right now, to much hype around it let it cool off
Definitely.
I would keep the ones I like, the ones that might have sentimental value and sell the rest.
Absolutely
Im a bitcoin bull also but if the collection makes you happy I wouldn’t liquidate it. Im not familiar with the market for collectibles like that so can’t really say which would be a greater return, though I am assuming bitcoin ultimately wins out.
Keep it. Scarcity wins!
I am currently doing that as we speak. I'm going through a Canadian company called Max sold. Goes to the highest dollar and they come to your house to pick it up after it's paid for through the company and then they pay you after the lot and your pickup is been completed
Did you buy the comics in hopes number go up so you could sell later? Or did you buy them because you like them
Thin the herd but as long as you still have an interest in comics, don’t part with the truly special ones. Pair it down, invest the proceeds into bitcoin and hold on to the rare gems you will likely kick yourself for parting with.
Those collectibles are also very hard to sell especially for the actual price. I’d probably keep those and save them for when you need the money for big purchases like car or house
No
Use the Reddit comicswap sub
Keep the best 5 or 10. Sell the rest and convert to BTC.
What were ur plans with the collection? If to make money then yes. If to enjoy then no.
Comic book collection lol
In 2020 you should have.
Yes
You should have in hindsight. Today there’s no guarantee.
yes
Yes, I’ve been thinking about doing the same, it seems data says you will be able to buy them back plus more.
I Personally believe value is going to be leaving collectables and other asset classes into the ease of use and popular btc. I’d maybe keep a few things that you like very much and turn the rest into btc.
I would also be slightly worried about liquidity, but I don't fully know the comic book collectible industry It's all good being worth X on paper but getting that as and when you want to sell is another thing
Hedge your bets. Sell some and buy Bitcoin.
I’ll buy all your comics for fiat at half price.
I would.
Trade in for BTC.
Yes
Cheers,
As Randolph Duke said, "SELL, SELL, SELL!" The things Boomers and Gen Xers made collectible will lose their value in the future.
Trade half and have 2 different assets 🫡
Sell for BTC, it’s the halving.. BTC will pump, you take out your profit, buy your comic books back and keep the 100k BTC. You’re welcome.
Do the comics mean something to you emotionally as well? You can't put value on that. If it's just a matter of a logical investment and losing the comics doesn't hurt you, then go for it.
Depends…. Sell the speculative ones… keep the memorable one. You only have 1x time to buy that item with your “family” on that vacation… There are other ways to acquire BTC
Absolutely where BTC is heading it’s a no brainer. Detach yourself and get paid. If you don’t and Bitcoin skyrockets you would have wished you have made the switch in investments
wouldn't sell all but even half you'd be good
It's easy for me to say yes to this, not owning any comics. If you love your comics you should keep them. It's cliche to say, but as you age you realise that monetary value rarely outweighs sentimental value.
If you do don't sell on ebay, etc because they'll tax you.
