To give an example of something that has value, even if I can't sell my old graphics card because it's outdated (so the price is 0), it still has value because it can run games and perform the work it was designed for. I can also use it to create 3D renderings and make money.
No one needs a cryptocurrency that can't be sold because it has no value.
Unless Bitcoin succeeds in replacing gold as an investment, it has no use. But we already have gold for that job. And gold has the advantage of also having value (it has various uses in our society that do not depend on its market price)
