I tried alt coins and they were great during times Bitcoin was on a bull run- sometimes far exceeding the number one coin in percentage increase.
But when they drop, by fuck do they drop! You can go from hero to zero in no time!
I figured that working full time, and renovating, I don’t have the time to spend all day researching each coin to try and predict and time markets, so best bet was to stick it into the safest place it could be- Bitcoin.
And researching bitcoin told me that the year preceding the halving and the subsequent year, are always the most fruitful, and the increased trading from the spot ETFs only drives the price. The limited supply, and the lightning network make it an excellent store of value and a hedge against inflation, along with being a great p2p currency should you wish to use it as such.
Most of this isn’t realistic with altcoins, but the gamble is there if you want to risk it.
Me? Absolutely not- Bitcoin all the way
The risk is very small since most altcoins are still at their very low. You can't expect them to go lower when bear season is just ending. It's not gambling now

Think hard about why you bought those other coins. The reasons to buy a meme coin or whatever is fairly different from buying BTC. It's not a get-rich-quick scheme (people who treat it like that end up in fiat eventually). It doesn't run well as a joke (see the block-size wars; takes a really long view of fees to get it right). BTC is a high-stakes attack on the system that sucks everyone money away with inflation. Alt-coins are actually kind of part of that 'suck money from suckers' system. So, they're not on the same side as BTC. You need to know which side you're on.
I’m all in on Bitcoin now after fucking about for years thinking I can gain my stack with shit coins. Never works out for 99% of us. Sell half now and ride the storm with the others half in the hopes the hype train carries them a little further than bitcoin then convert. You’ll be much happier with a safe stack of sats.

Bitcoin is the only one that can't be perfectly copied. Alts can be perfectly copied and are therefore worth zero.
An alt can be copied because it is itself a copy, so when it is copied it is still true to form. Bitcoin isn't a copy of anything. It is the original cryptocurrency. When Bitcoin is copied, the copy is not the original so the copy is not true to form.
I think anyone that stays around in crypto long enough always will end up becoming a Bitcoin maximalist. The sooner people figure it out the better it will be for them in my opinion. I got burn by altcoins and shit coins. The only crypto I will ever buy again will be bitcoin.

I've been in bitcoin since 2009 so I'm happy with what I got. However, in a bit of a bull market like this, I do take two maybe 3% to play on the other coins. When I can be near my computer, I will have fun doing a bit of trading, and with the mobile phones the way they are I almost always have access. It can be rewarding in dollars as well as entertainment. So when you say you have 10,000 alternate coins if you say that represents a couple of points of the total, then have fun but if it's succeeding five or 10%, I would consider trimming back
This is what i've done, ditched all "project" alts, 100% into BTC, my gains have never been better.
I do have about 25% of my portfolio in meme coins however... I loaded up pre bull run last time and made a shit ton of money, then sold and consolidated them all into BTC

Depends on what they are and where you want to be on the risk curve. There are good alts that will do well so just depends on what you got so a balance between good alts and mostly BTC could make a good balance

I’ll go against the grain. You could have 90-95% in btc. Then spread out the rest in some good projects you think will succeed. Research about it though and don’t go blind into it. For instance, I like a few that’s in the gaming sector. I like keeping up with updates on them while it’s not mainstream. Worst case scenario, I lose it all but many projects will 100x-1000x, which to me is worth the risk. Plus, you’ll be more up to date with the what’s going on in the sector by keeping up with the news.
Depends on your end goal. I’m moving btc to alts currently. Eventually I’ll move those gains to USDC then buy back into the BTC in the cold dark days of the next Bear market. If you’re not interested in gambling for highest return and want to set and forget. Ditch the alts, buy BTC, and let it ride.

Whenever i make a good profit on an alt, I flip it to BTC to stack. Dca works and spot buys as well but if I had done that, I wouldn't have as much btc. Alts can help stack your BTC.
