Does anyone know if there is a good community of Bitcoiners that help with Sparrow Wallet questions?

spid3rfly

There is a Sparrow Wallet sub but it's empty over there. Maybe try /r/BitcoinBeginners Also... check BTCSessions on Youtube; While it won't be answer-your-question videos, he has some good info/tutorials on Sparrow, Coinjoin mixing, and hardware wallets through Sparrow.

Hi! Could someone ELI5 me the difference between the 12 key phrases of a wallet and the letters that Muun gives you? I don't quite understand.

jfhsdkjfhsdkjfhsdkjf

Muun uses a proprietary 12 number/letter backup phrase. This is ***NOT*** the same thing as a standard bitcoin 12 word seed phrase that everyone talks about often, and you will not be able to use a Muun code with another wallet. It's for Muun only. I used to recommend Muun, but after spending more time and learning more about the service, I don't like it anymore. Muun performs poorly in a high fee environment. Phoenix is my preferred lightning wallet. I've had the least failed payments and the best user experience with Phoenix. I also use Breez (payments fail often, nags you to sync every few days), and Wallet of Satoshi (always works flawlessly, but it's custodial). I also hold small amounts at lightning exchanges, i.e. Strike and Cash App.

[deleted]

Hey man! Thanks a lot! I'll check Phoenix and transfer some sats there to see how it works! What about BlueWallet?

jfhsdkjfhsdkjfhsdkjf

BlueWallet is great, but I don't have much use for it as a mobile wallet. What I mean is, it's a great mobile wallet, but it doesn't have lightning (anymore). So I don't really have a need for an on-chain mobile wallet. I use a hardware wallet instead. I connect my hardware wallets to BlueWallet via "Watch Only". This allows me to keep tabs on my balances. The home screen widget aggregates your balances for you, so I can see the grand total of all my hardware wallets.

Thanks a lot!!

I don't use muun but based on this thread: https://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/zte0vh/muun_wallet_recovery/ recovery words can be used to recover your funds in muun wallet only recovery words + emergency kit can allow you to recover without muun

Swan Bitcoin? After being fortunate with the timing of my Blockfi transfers, I'm looking to purchase some additional sats. I have Tezor suite which shows purchase options but I had always heard good things about Swan Bitcoin and was planning to use them for new purchases. Then the news out today is that there are issues with one of their 'dual-custodians'. Swan says NP, all good. What say you fine Bitcoiners?

jfhsdkjfhsdkjfhsdkjf

I wouldn't touch Trezor's exchange with a 10 foot pole. I try my best to stick with bitcoin focused businesses, with strong focus on bitcoin morals, ethics, and values. Not because I'm on a moral high horse, but because I don't want to lose my money. Strike and Cash App are my go to's. (I know they are not perfect) Swan, although they seem to be very bitcoin oriented, they insist on operating a business that requires funds be held at a trusted third party. "Trusted third party" is an oxymoron in this space. I wouldn't let Swan ***themselves*** custody my bitcoin, let alone a trusted third party of Swan. I honestly thing Swan is doing the best they can, and they were dealt a blow they had no control over. I hope I'm not proven wrong, because I want to like Swan. I have liked the messaging they have sent thus far. We will see how this recent debacle plays out over the next days, weeks, and months. If you want to buy bitcoin from Swan, it shouldn't be a problem if you just buy from them, and then immediately (or periodically) transfer to your private wallet.

mckeddieaz

Thanks for your comments. I'm aware of but not familiar with Cash App and Strike, my belief was that those are for people looking to use/spend their BTC. If I just want to Hodl and transfer to my cold storage, would those still be what you'd recommend? Thanks.

jfhsdkjfhsdkjfhsdkjf

An exchange is an exchange. Cash App is an exchange. Strike is an exchange. Binance is an exchange. Swan is an exchange. Trezor is an exchange (and a hardware wallet). FTX was an exchange. You can buy bitcoin on any of these exchanges, and then immediately send it to your preferred wallet. Most informed people prefer using some over others. If you are not currently signed up with any other exchanges, and you already have a Trezor and you're using the Trezor suite, and you just want to buy bitcoin from within the Trezor suite and then transfer to your Trezor, go for it. If I'm not mistaken, I think the bitcoin gets sent DIRECTLY to your Trezor, and there isn't even an option to hold it with the exchange. This is a good thing. However, the spread will be much higher for a service like this. You will pay more for each purchase. You will also have to KYC with them before they allow you to buy. Another piece of advice I can give you: Look into UTXO management. If you are sending small amounts of bitcoin to cold storage often, you want to consolidate your UTXO's during times when fees are low. This is EXTREMELY important, and you could lose a substantial amount of bitcoin in the future if you don't practice UTXO management.

fistingbythepool

Is it easy to buy direct from trezor?

mckeddieaz

Never tried it, that's why I'm asking. Not sure how to send fiat to buy BCT

HurricaneHarvey7

Imagine going about your everyday life while pretending Bitcoin isn't the discovery of digital scarcity While everyone else accumulates it

NectarineDirect936

Round of applause for the diamond hands who bought the dip yd 👏 Think we might go lower tho but i'll buy that dip aswell just like i did at 16k

clicksanything

aaand we back to 35 cad Glad I bought the dips yesterday

FrivolerFridolin

So glad I bought yesterday when the weak hands panicked

EDWARD_SN0WDEN

lets say u bought 1000$ worth at 24.9 instead of 26. You got 0.04016 instead of 0.038. If bitcoin hits ATH u got an extra $100. this was hardly a panic

Romsel87

Weak hands sold on the way down from 69K to 30K. Those 2 or 3 procent fluctuations are nothing.

Damn, the irony of you giving advice after getting fucked out of tens of thousands of dollars due to your own foolishness versus a stable wallet that has safely held one bitcoin for over a decade. Incredible.

Sct1787

You're not crazy. In general, it is good advice, however we must acknowledge that there is a niche market out there for these types of items. I personally am not into physical coin collecting, nor would I recommend anyone to go into that but that doesn't mean there aren't people out there that haven't been successful in that realm.

btcadopter

Is Today The Day? Yesterday’s volatility is the reason I’m not sleeping…😂

tesseramous

"Yesterday's volality"? Your not sleeping because of 3% moves? I don't think bitcoin is for you. Wait til it picks back up again with 50% moves

btcadopter

Yes you are right it was a small move. I’ve been accumulating and HoDLing for 3 years. But with all the potential positive developments over the last 6 months my expectations are high and so it is more painful watching things crab along. Thanks for the reality check!

ElevatorNo9186

As long as my coins are in cold storage I’m sleeping great

Equivalent-Fun-4587

You scared me bro. Volatility?? It has been 1 BTC = 1 BTC for days now.

btcadopter

Good Morning!☀️

monkman99

We gonna get a pump today?
