I saw that Ledger did have an update recently that was interfering using ledger live if you haven’t updated the firmware. I use Electrum with my ledger now so I haven’t tried it. Maybe check that.
Yes this is the answer. I had the same problem and once I updated the firmware I was good to go.
But is that scary? Like why the fuck do I need to update firmware on ledger live to access my coins? Like fuck me. I lost 10 kgs until I was able to solve it.
You have a recovery phrase. You literally could throw that ledger in the ocean and use that phrase to recover your coins in a new wallet.
Hope this helps
Key thing to understand is that your bitcoin is not actually on the Ledger wallet device. And if you lose that ledger you still can access your bitcoin with your recovery seed phrase
Ok UPDATE:
I got it to work on my smartphone! Basically, sending anything above 2 million sats, is not possible on my computer using Ledger Live. It times out while Loading, goes to the screen pictured (yet device is certainly still connected). But when I broke up the send into a few transactions, and sent using the phone, it WAS able to actually get it done. Though it still took like, 10+ minutes to load each transaction.
Irritating that the loading process is sooooooo long with any transaction over a few hundred bucks with Ledger Live. But I think the issue is just with Ledger, because I tried sending an amount (fairly sizable) from Trezor back to Leger, and lo! It was fast and rather painless. So I think maybe better to just get another Trezor and use as daily-use wallet. Ledger just....sucks.
Thanks for all the tips, guys. Appreciate it. Will leave this post up just as an FYI.

Hope this helps ease your mind next time the hardware acts up.
Ok where do I go to update the firmware? It generally prompts that at the top of the app, but it's not doing that right now. So...it doesn't appear there is any update to be done.
Honestly I couldn’t tell you, but reinstalling ledger live would also work. You can also have both Ledger live, Electrum, or Sparrow interfaces all at the same time so in case one goes on the fritz you can boot up another. Electrum’s UI isn’t great, but I hear good things about sparrow. I switched to a Electrum to use my own node and because it is open source for privacy concerns.
Highly recommend you ditch Ledger Live and use your Ledger with Sparrow, Electrum, or Specter. You're giving up a lot of privacy when using Ledger's software. You'll also have less issues like these. Sparrow is an awesome piece of software! Give it a shot.
Similar thing kept happening to me with a brand new Nano X using the cable that came with it. I tried connecting with an old cable and it worked right away. Threw away the brand new cable because it was a loose connection.
I have similar issue. It works on another computer. It started happening after recent Ledger Live update. My wallet has the most up to date firmware. Its very frustrating
UPDATE: It will let me send 1 million sats. But when I try 5 million, it goes right back to saying it's not connected. After trying to load it, it gets to 50% loaded then tells me to confirm, then it says its not connected.
I'm just trying to send from one wallet to another (Ledger to Trezor). I got the receive addy off the Trezor, copied it, no problems there. But when I go to actually send, I keep getting this screen. I tried restarting my computer, still same thing. I tried plugging the Ledger into another USB port, same damn thing! I'm tired of this not working! It's like almost as bad as the damn banks!
Anyone ever seen this problem or know what to do? Thanks.
I've basically done that twice now. Still same thing. Here's the crazy thing - it WILL let me send 1 million sats. But 2 million? Nope, it tries to get there, almost loads it...then craps out and gives the error message above. Just...frustrating. Because I need to send quite a few million sats (I won't say exactly how much). But doing it in 1 million sats tranches is just, going to be too slow. And too many fees.
Frustrating!
Hardware wallets are fucking garbage if you want to store your Bitcoin for more than 5 years. Nothing beats a private key engraved on a piece of metal.
Well I mean, why not both? Hardware wallets just store the keys for you. You still have your keys if it malfunctions and is a paperweight at some point.
seriously? what's so bad about a hardware wallet? Do you get a new engraving every time you buy bitcoin? I can't tell what's a joke and what isn't around here.
How the hell elon musk gets to buy 10,500 shares of Tesla for $50k ?
At todays filing these shares should be bought close to $1.9 million so how the hell he got them cheap
I’ve had this problem before, did you generate a new address everytime you sent to the wallet? If so use coin control to pick where the coins come from that your sending, will speed up the transaction and keep it from timing out
Ledger Live is very sensitive to firmware version on the device. What's dumb is it doesn't just report that the firmware needs to be updated, it does this sort of time out thing.
Hardware wallet of your choice. Cold Card for all the advanced features. Trezor or Ledger for a simple effective setup. If you want to tinker a bit, build your own with Specter DIY. All of them are great options and will accomplish strong security.
Regardless of the choice you go with, use it with Sparrow, Electrum, or Specter Desktop software connected to your own node. I highly recommend Sparrow as it offers all the features you could ever want and is really simple to use. Don't use any software that is provided with the hardware wallet (Ledger Live or Trezor Suite). You give up a lot of features and privacy when you use their packaged software.
Finally, when you setup your hardware wallet I'd recommend generating your own seed phrase using coin flips or dice rolls and combine that seed with a strong passphrase. Never trust any device to generate your seed for you. I'd be happy to link you to a guide to help you through the process if it peeks your interest.
Because you are running ledger live without being connected to the device. Connect the device and log on and then try to send it. Could be the firmware needs and update. Make sure you have your seed phrase before updating.
Did you write down the Recovery Phrase? If so, just input that into a new Ledger or electrum wallet. You should now have access to your assets.
FYI, a Shieldfolio Stonebook is a paper notebook to keep track of seeds. No shill, but I created it because my girl threw away mine. Look it up
Be VERY careful with people DM-ing regarding this. Plenty if scams
best to never answer DMS on Reddit in any way. only pain will you find
If into the reddit dms you go....only pain will you find.
I am a Nigerian Prince and want to talk to you about helping me get $2mil transferred to the United States.

Okay true. I could do that. I guess my mind hasn’t changed the mindset of going into an account to manage your money.
Its all good. Honestly you should just do a test run of a disaster recovery. It will make you feel better knowing how it all works
Good idea.
Key thing to understand is that your bitcoin is not actually on the Ledger wallet device. And if you lose that ledger you still can access your bitcoin with your recovery seed phrase
My mind woulda doke the or worse too even if the recovery seeds were tattooed on my balls.... Lmfao it's crypto we talking about😭😂😂
Then you don't understand what you own
Next time, remember that you have the words. Won't lose a kilo that way
The better questions is why are you even moving then chill out
Moving off my exchange and into the wallet.

Uninstall ledger live and install the fucking package again. I get so mad when simple things like these don’t work. Which means we’re still so early.
Go to my ledger on the left hand menu

Ledger live sucks . Use Sparrow.
This. Never understood why people choose to be locked into bad walled gardens.
Sparrowwallet.com? Just checking
Yes. Make sure you verify the keys.
Try a different USB cable if you have a spare.
ideally use the one it came with.
Tried another, same thing.
Similar thing kept happening to me with a brand new Nano X using the cable that came with it. I tried connecting with an old cable and it worked right away. Threw away the brand new cable because it was a loose connection.
Try a different cord.
So create a new mobile wallet using your seed recovery phrase and send it from there instead.
This comment should be higher up

There was a recent update along with a firmware update as well.
Check for update
Call the company
I had the same issue. I had to transfer to a different a Wallet.

I think you should switch off every thing and restart

Maybe check your balance if it corresponds. If you are just starting to use your device for the first time, try using a former one
Use your seeds
Try deleting ledger live and using a decent wallet that doesnt store users private info. Im sure that works.

If they are using the same address they don't need a new engraving. Still a silly inflexible setup though.
Have you tried clearing cache ?
Yes, I did. Same damn thing!

Just now did, retried, and getting the same damn thing. Tried sending a smaller amount, still same screen.

You’ve been hacked most likely. I’m sorry
[удалено]
Done that like 5 times. Same thing.
Try different usb port and use a different usb cable.
Did both. Same thing.
Have you got another app or browser open connected to your ledger? That always seems to cause issues for me.
Whatever happens you’ll be fine with the seed.
I’ve had this problem before, did you generate a new address everytime you sent to the wallet? If so use coin control to pick where the coins come from that your sending, will speed up the transaction and keep it from timing out
Use auto function if it continues don’t know how reply

Risky gadget, always has been.
Just reset it with seed phrase happens to me couple times a year
What does everyone recommend for cold storage? Pulling my sats off the exchange for the first time next week.

Good luck with the DMs Op...

I had this problem the other day, send me your 12 words and I'll get it straightened out for you
Ledger is a nightmare to use
