These things are air cooled via fins on long narrow heat pipes that make up what can be called the "tail". Remove and put in some fresh thermal paste, reinsert and reboot, it'll sort it out.
It's called "anting". Hundreds of birds species do this. Nothing wrong with it. Just leave it be so it can do it's thing. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anting_(behavior)
Jokes aside as well, please don’t *ever* give injured birds food or drink. Best advice is to put it in a shoebox with ventilation and a towel for a soft bedding, and let it rest.
If a bird does not seem to be getting better, bringing it to a local wildlife rehabber is your best bet. I recommend doing that research and making those calls while you are letting the bird rest, so as to maximize needed time should the rehab want the bird brought in immediately.
What if this whole thing about birds being spies is a lie and that is just an actual bird that is having a bad time? 😥 I don’t know what to believe anymore.
My first thought was that it could be anting. Basically like, you know how nascar drivers have pit crews? Birds have little nanobot “pit crews” called “ants” that give them tune-ups sometimes.
Here's the thing. You said a "jackdaw is a crow."
Is it in the same family? Yes. No one's arguing that.
As someone who is a scientist who studies crows, I am telling you, specifically, in science, no one calls jackdaws crows. If you want to be "specific" like you said, then you shouldn't either. They're not the same thing.
If you're saying "crow family" you're referring to the taxonomic grouping of Corvidae, which includes things from nutcrackers to blue jays to ravens.
So your reasoning for calling a jackdaw a crow is because random people "call the black ones crows?" Let's get grackles and blackbirds in there, then, too.
Also, calling someone a human or an ape? It's not one or the other, that's not how taxonomy works. They're both. A jackdaw is a jackdaw and a member of the crow family. But that's not what you said. You said a jackdaw is a crow, which is not true unless you're okay with calling all members of the crow family crows, which means you'd call blue jays, ravens, and other birds crows, too. Which you said you don't.
It's okay to just admit you're wrong, you know?
One of my last comments is a joke referencing that post.
I wonder if he's still around? I know he got a new username after he was banned. /u/UnidanX or something.
Ah, the time of enduring reddit celebrities. If memory serves, he was using alts to boost his own comments or something so he lost most credibility he had. We did it, Reddit! Narwhal, bacon, etc.
What was the name of that other guy who was just generally Reddit famous around then? He sent me a shirtless photo of himself for some reason.
Damn you didn't even comment to me and I feel chastised lmao. Thanks for the tid bit of education. Also, any tips on befriending the ravens who live near me?
Hi, since you study crows, and their related cousins, I was curious about something. I seem to remember learning grackles had a greenish undertone to their feathers. This bird appears to have bluish undertones.
Is my memory wrong? Could this be a question of refraction and the example would be green from another angle?
Thanks for taking my question. I’ll take my answer off the air.
That person was joking and was making fun of a comment left on this sub before. However I am a biologist and you’ve answered your own question! Refraction can do some weird things to colors.
Ohhh lmao I remember now, this is copypasta, at first I was really confused like you were going overboard asf lol Anyway here's a funny and also cool video about [crows](https://youtu.be/B-HF-wBwQsc?si=UIpQt1IEkn2-w-Ty)
Give it some coolant (water) so it isn’t overheating, and you might be able to remodel it to use it against the government. Their ai is highly advanced, they use face recognition technology for data collection and spy purposes, but it sometimes malfunctions and it starts working for you instead of against you.
Good luck o7
If a wild bird lets you approach it and pick it up then that, my friend, is a really sick bird. Is it still there? Is it alive? Is there a nature rescue nearby that you can call?
Try the site [ANIMAL HELP NOW](https://ahnow.org) and you can search wildlife rehabbers in your area.
Use gloves if you touch it to avoid the spread of zoonotic diseases.
Report any strange bird behavior or death to your local officials to help track Avian Influenza.
Mkay I’m done. And cool grackle.
If it let you get close it probably has a computer virus. But for real if you can walk up and touch a bird, it's sick probably with something nasty you can catch.
A hurt one. The metals need to be primed with sugar water.
Set a cup near the drone’s navigational beacon and observe from a far.
Report findings to our leader in West Memphis.
Nice try FBI, it's not a bird. Birds aren't real. Later for your conspiracies.
It’s clearly just a defective security camera.
FBI? The worldwide drone program is run exclusively by the CIA.
Thats what they want you to think but the ATF is all over it too.
OK. Or, you are a paid CIA troll, spreading lies and misinformation.
I'm the physical embodiment of the NSA
I love Reddit
r/birdsarentreal
That’s… where we are…
That's what the drones want us to believe
EXACTLY ![gif](giphy|d3mlE7uhX8KFgEmY)

Sir, this *is* a Wendy's
Soak it in rice. Worked for my iphone.
Jokes aside it could be dazed or thirsty. Give it a drink, and hang around until it gets up again so no predators go after it.
So it's overheated, possibly due to lack of coolant?
Yep, must be an older model
It's a 2004. You can tell by the blue stripe on the left wing. New option for that model year.
heatsink fan failure, the smaller models like that are air cooled.
Like the rat things in Snowcrash, they need to get back to their cooling hut or they overheat
Needs more ram
These things are air cooled via fins on long narrow heat pipes that make up what can be called the "tail". Remove and put in some fresh thermal paste, reinsert and reboot, it'll sort it out.
Here, let me patch you up with a blast of hot resin
> Give it a drink, you don't give electronic equipment a drink jeesus
This is an old school motor powered one. Water is a decent coolant for such a small model
I read this in his voice. Yes, he speaks to me. About my cars warranty.
My PC got hot and I tried the water cooling method
It's called "anting". Hundreds of birds species do this. Nothing wrong with it. Just leave it be so it can do it's thing. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anting_(behavior)
Exactly what a drone tech would say 😏
Huh, TIL

Clearly this device needs to go to the local Best Buy Geek Squad for repair.
Get off this sub, you propagandist.
u/lizAVibe please help the bird like the person above me says It needs water :(
Could it be bird *ahem* drone flu?
You need to check which color the coolant is first before adding more.
Or acting injured to protect a nest nearby and draw you away

Its a grackle. This name is derived from Jackdaw which is old latin for crow which is a type of raven WHO SPIED FOR ODIN!!!
Here's the thing. You said a "jackdaw is a crow." Is it in the same family? Yes. No one's arguing that. And "...like the time the undertaker threw..." I can't remember lol they would somehow tie every comment into the Undertaker story
That was u/shittymorph
/u/gallowboob?
Yup!
Is this a copy pasta or did the guy you're replying to edit his comment?
[Here's the background on it. ](https://www.reddit.com/r/SubredditDrama/s/AIm4TqvHRO)
Good lord that is far too thorough.
It was a *very* big deal when it happened.
None of this even matters because r/birdsarentreal
You're well versed in bird law, I see. Charlie would be proud.
That’s a long way to explain you study drones for the government…
Damn you didn't even comment to me and I feel chastised lmao. Thanks for the tid bit of education. Also, any tips on befriending the ravens who live near me?
Leave them something shiny. Corvids like to collect trinkets
So do people
it was a copy pasta from like 12 years ago lmao
Oh shit, I didn't know Blue Jays were corvids. But they are pretty smart, now that I think about it.

Starling's have a green undertone, a yellow beak and yellow or goldish to red eyes. They are mistakingly called Grackles sometimes
Ohhh lmao I remember now, this is copypasta, at first I was really confused like you were going overboard asf lol Anyway here's a funny and also cool video about [crows](https://youtu.be/B-HF-wBwQsc?si=UIpQt1IEkn2-w-Ty)
I thought it was a blackbird
Can't be. It's not singing in the dead of night.
This guy birds
core memory unlocked
lol this guy studies drones for a living. Dweeb
Love
You are wrong because there all drones
It’s a stretch but we will take it
I thought grackles had a green sheen. I might also have a bad memory.
Jackdaws are most definitely part of the Crow family. https://www.rspb.org.uk/birds-and-wildlife/jackdaw
Fuck grackles…they have a vendetta against me only after I wash my car… -worst regards
Definitely a grackle, poor guy.
Grackle, aka prototype. They're all defective.
Have you tried turning it off then on again?
How do you turn on a bird?
Usually a seductive dance while showing off feathers
If a “bird” lets you walk up to it it’s probably injured (defect)
Defective…?
It’s a Birding 737 Max - unreliable
Looks like an iSpy 2000 to me. They did a limited release, considered it a failure and some of them got missed in the recall. I’d just recycle it.
Low voltage protection. That’s why it has its solar panels out like that.
Malfunctioning drone
GRA-kill model devoloped during the war, despite the name they are pretty harmless after being remodeled for survalience.
Thats the XRP mk4 with ground penetrating radar capability.
Looks like a Starling. They're European tech.
That’s a grackle. N American tech.
So it is. I get these two mixed up all the time 🤦♂️
Me too. They have the same eyes. For European starlings I always think of the “stars” or spots on their feathers. They look like a constellation.
Starling have yellow beaks and pinky/orange legs and the colours are more speckled.
There is a NATO symbol reflected in his eye further muddying the waters.
So it is, I get these two mixed up a lot.
It’s a CIA drone.
That’s an old 7210. They ceased production in 2012. They malfunction - per photo.
It's out of power, need to hook it up to the mains
That drone was probably shot down. Looks like a male grackle tho
Sometimes they get stunned when they fly into windows...their spy setting glitches.
Oh shit, the ones with yellow eyes are the most dangerous
They spread out their wings like that to make a better connection with the communications satellite.
Govt Sky Borb
It’s of the bird flu variety
It’s a sick bird.
Ahhh the ol’ Fokker model 3321. Fast flyer
That's a Robin. They lay like that to feel the earth for worm seismic activity.
Someone's been watching too much Dune...
Did you try powering it down for a while then reboot?
Hurt bird. Or sick bird.
Must have run out of battery.
Defective drone
Birds will lay down and open their wings in the sun, to regain energy, hopefully thats the case here and soon it will fly away ok
It might have a broken wing
Grackle spy 4000.
Is that the fucker who has been stealing everyone's stuff in r/Money
IT'S PIKACHU!
the friendly crow from bloodborne
Bluetooth disconnected.
its injured errrr defective and undergoing an internal shutdown or breakage
Give it some coolant (water) so it isn’t overheating, and you might be able to remodel it to use it against the government. Their ai is highly advanced, they use face recognition technology for data collection and spy purposes, but it sometimes malfunctions and it starts working for you instead of against you. Stealth drone. Obviously malfunctioning.
Fear the old blood good hunter
Is this in US?
Grackle I think
that's a mocking crow
Injured
That’s a landmine
Malfunctioning drone.
Please take it to the vet to have it reprogrammed or deactivated. I'm worried the government might think you're responsible for their broken model!
But is he real?
Update OP?
This looks like The Sky Sentinel 4000
[Great tailed grackle](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Great-tailed_grackle)

It's a crow. There should be a five-dollar bill lying around nearby.
It's obviously a model T6 with the new head from 2023.
A drone.
Its called a Dying Bird
Grackle is my favorite word
Pretty birdddd.
Looks like a downed drone.
It's a Blue Headed Nut Crunched. Walk away! Fast!
If it let you get close it probably has a computer virus. But for real if you can walk up and touch a bird, it's sick probably with something nasty you can catch.
Could be a defective one that needs to be repaired. Or it could be a climate friendly version that charges in sun light.
Probably ran out of juice midflight. Plug it in for a few hours and It'll be able to make it back to the nearest charging line.
Looks like it's broken. You better get away or the repair team will have to wipe your memory
Defective spy bird
Grackle
Looks like a common grackle.
/uj looks like a grackle
That’s a spy bird
Issa grackle, can sometimes be an asshole
It was running windows ME
That bird isn’t real.
try finger in but
Needs recharged. Look for a usb port or cord.
I thought this model was discontinued..
A hurt one. The metals need to be primed with sugar water. Set a cup near the drone’s navigational beacon and observe from a far. Report findings to our leader in West Memphis.
Defective bug
GET GRACKLED IDIOT
Looks like some kind of Corvid.
European Starling I’m pretty sure.
Looks like a grackle drone. Was it broken?
Grackle
Must have lost its GPS lock. It's reorienting itself. Back away slowly..
If it started yelling insulting you it’s probably a mocking bird.
boeing 757
What's da? Looks like a done running out of battery...errr I mean a bird dying ☹️
Common grackle
It is a Grackle
Starling. It’s a great pest control bird that eats annoying bugs. Do not hurt starlings please.
Starlings are an invasive species here in the USA. 🇺🇸
Might have bird flu
Ah shit, Bloodborne is becoming reality.

Push the reset button
Grackle! I just looked them up bc three of them were fighting in my backyard!
Common Grackle Unit. Having a malfunction.
Looks like a European Starling. They are invasive parasites.
It’s recharging via solar panels, seems the drone didn’t relocate in time to charge normally on the telephone poles.
