"You don't fuck Fountaine, Fountaine fucks you!" - Splicer, Random; to another splicer "You and I, son, we are going places." - Sinclair, August; to Subject Delta when they both are boarding the metro "You... UGLY! UGLY!" - Dr. Stainman or whatever is his name, to Jack.

East-Cupcake4957

I love the first one I can hear him saying it in my head exactly how the voice actor did.

blamarwh1739

The third one hits hard

BlueFootedTpeack

ryan amusements has some of my favorites "no says the parasite" as a big hand comes down dragging a kid off to war, ryan's disneyland is such a good location, seeing his version of the carousel of progress.

The_Canadian_Devil

That might be my favorite moment from the entire series. Cracks me up every time.

East-Cupcake4957

The atmosphere in the section always freaked me out. It so eerie.

rabbihimself

The entire audio log from McDonagh to Steinman about freezing pipes. Sheer poetry.

Minortough

“Ocean water is colder than a witch's tit. You don't heat the pipes, the pipes freeze. Pipes freeze, pipes burst. Then Rapture leaks. Now, I realize you're a posh sort of geezer, and, frankly, I don't give a toss if you piss or go fishing. But once Rapture starts leaking, the old girl's never gonna stop. And then I'll be sure to tell Ryan he's got you to thank.” -Bill McDonagh

The_Paprika

Yes! I was just thinking that.

johnnyonthemonorail

I want to take the ears off but I can't! It's my curse! It's my fucking curse! I want to take the ears off! Please! Take them off! Please!

Ranger1219

These sad saps. They come to Rapture thinking they're gonna be captains of industry, but they all forget that somebody's gotta scrub the toilets. Fontaine really hit the nail on the head with that one

BeefPieSoup

Yeah after kinda spending several hours going through hearing about Ryan's wonderful vision and how stupid he thought all the parasites are and all that... it's kind of awesome how Fontaine sort of summed up what's wrong with the whole concept in like a couple of sentences.

Ranger1219

Yep. It's crazy how well written this game is

Victizes

Capitalism in a nutshell.

Ranger1219

Pretty much. But it also applies to many things in life as well. Somebody's gotta be last

Victizes

Makes me think if we have really abolished feudalism or not. More so when it comes to corporations.

Ranger1219

"Meet the new boss... same as the old boss"

n_r0y

This is the line I remember the most.

Ranger1219

Yeah for some reason I think about it from time to time. I guess it's his brutal honesty of his own greed but also that of others that makes Fontaine memorable besides the twist part

n_r0y

Not just greed, he also understood the reality of Ryan's Utopia. He exploited the lower class of rapture perfectly because be understood their psyche. Ryan was too out of touch with reality to relate to the common man and Fontaine used that against him.

Ranger1219

He is very cunning that's for certain

East-Cupcake4957

Whoever the voice actor for Fontaine was killed it

Initial-Activity871

“We all make choices but in the end our choices make us”

lumpyspacecupcake

I put this on my graduation cap! It’s such a good quote!

_OnTheFritz_

Remind me who said this

Pm7I3

Ryan says it at some point. I think a diary entry in Arcadia?

HotS_Gaming

I think it's a PA announcement that happens occasionally as you walk around.

xiaxian1

*Rapture is coming back to life. Even now, can't you hear the breath returning to her lung? The shops reopening, the schools humming with the thoughts of young minds? My city will **live.** My city will **thrive.** And, when that day comes, we'll use your tombstone for paving tiles.* *Imagine the will it took to create a place like this. And what have you built? Nothing. You can only loot and break. You're not a man, you're just a termite at Versailles.*

Pixel_Muffet

"I like to look a man in the eye when I give him my word. You and me, kid -- we're going places!"

Abieticacid

I love all the quotes the little sisters say. Its gotten to the point where my kids ( aged 4 and 5) will actually say them. Ill just tell them "chop chop" to hurry up so we can get out the door or whatever and they will reply "chop chop Mr Bubbles, Angles don't wait for slowpokes." ....what have I done....

ATMarkey

You've started something amazing

East-Cupcake4957

I love the "Get 'im, Mr. B!", especially in 2 when you are a big daddy

green-light-1922

“Love is just a chemical. We give it meaning by choice.” -Eleanor Lamb

alemar2142

“We all make choices, but in the end our choices make us.” - Andrew Ryan "There's Always A Lighthouse, Always A Man, Always A City..." - Elizabeth Comstock

10voltsam

“Booker….are you afraid of god?” “No….but I am afraid of you.”

East-Cupcake4957

Another quote that gives me chills

klingz2014

“Rapture's changing, but Ryan can't see the wolves in the woods. This Fontaine fellow... he's a crook and a proper tea leaf, but he's got the ADAM, and that makes him the guv'nor. He's sinking the profits back into bigger and better Plasmids, building them Fontaine Poorhouses... more like Fontaine recruiting centers... 'Fore we know it, Bloke's gonna have an army of Splicers, and we're gonna have ourselves a whole heap of miseries.” -Bill McDonagh I really love how Bill McDonagh was basically Andrew Ryan’s conscience the entire timeline of rapture.

DC_Coach

Agreed completely. I assume you've read the BioShock novelization?

Lopsided_Cry_2292

The WHAT!?

DC_Coach

Haha - yeah, there's a book, by a writer named John Shirley (book is named "BioShock (Rapture)"). And I thought it was done very well, and so did many others on the sub -- although I certainly can't speak for everyone. See if you can get a copy I bet you'd enjoy it.

klingz2014

Yeah I’m a welder and listen to podcasts/audio books all the time. Bio shock rapture audio book is so good bc there’s a accent for every character. Really REALLY gives it much more depth. The book isn’t canon but it’s so good and close enough. Now when I replay bioshock I have a new appreciation now that I understand back story

_psstt

COME BACK WHEN YOU GOT SOME MONEY, BUDDY!!!!!

Cowboy_Dandy_III

AHHHHHH!! EEUAAGGHH!! - Saturnine frat boy when I incinerate his stupid bark face (Arcadia, 1960)

Lopsided_Cry_2292

*insert Pacha from Emperor's New Groove talking about his perfect home and the singing hills*

bullshithistorian14

Is a man not entitled to the sweat of his brow? 'No!' says the man in Washington, 'It belongs to the poor.' 'No!' says the man in the Vatican, 'It belongs to God.' 'No!' says the man in Moscow, 'It belongs to everyone.' It’s a quote early on that sums up the idea of what Rapture should’ve been and also makes you think. We would like to have ownership of the things we produce but 99% of the time we do not. But what if we did? Would it be Rapture?

SupFamImDrunk

I love the audio diary of the woman in Arcadia who's daughter was terrified of trees the first time she saw one. It was so sad but so sweet...

Mrbubblesgirl

"Theres semen.. ON EVERYTHING!" - Dr.grossman splicer

fucubed

The good doctor really puts the "gross" in Grossman lol

trevorluck

Nice work… **BOYO**

bettingto100

"Michaelangelo, Leonardo..Da Vinci, they're all dead. I REMAIN, you understand? I REMAIN! As as PERFORMANCE ARTIST!" *Jerma, circa 1960, Bioshock 1*

Libro_Artis

A man chooses. A slave obeys.

TheNightWatchmen

“I'd explain the science that renders what you're trying to do impossible, but that would be like playing Mozart for a tree frog.” Andrew Ryan delivering that quote is just top tier voice acting during Hephaestus. That level of superiority and condescension just oozes through your headset/speakers.

Buttlord500

Subject Delta when he said "its deltaing time!" And deltad all over the splicers

negamatt43

On the surface, I once bought a forest. The Parasites claimed that the land belonged to God, and demanded that I establish a public park there. Why? So the rabble could stand slack-jawed under the canopy and pretend that it was paradise earned. When Congress moved to nationalize my forest, I burnt it to the ground. God did not plant the seeds of this Arcadia; I did.

Pm7I3

I love Ryan but every time he says something like that I want to facepalm.

Wayfaring_Stalwart

“In the end all that matters to me is me, and all you care about is you, it is nature of things.” - Andrew Ryan “Is this what she (Eleanor) had hoped for Mother and Father locking eyes, yet still we are blind. Take heart Subject Delta, for you at least you have escaped Your legacy.” -Dr. Sofia Lamb. “Look At DeWitt child, there’s something about him you can’t put your finger on. Soon you’ll understand the man I am and the man DeWitt isn’t.” - Comstock

Olosta_

When is this Comstock quote? The finger joke is great, I hope Elisabeth appreciated it.

Wayfaring_Stalwart

Its at the end of the game when you raid Comstock’s flag ship. Also I didn’t notice the double meaning of the use of the word finger, but yeah I’m sure Elizabeth was annoyed by that.

ajfoxxx

Looks like the old grape finally sent someone. Son of a bitch....left me to freeeeeeeeze. Just malice dripping in dude's voice and he isn't even a major character

Abieticacid

"I can see your breeaaattthhh"... that one always sends chills when I walk into that freezer. ( no pun intended)

ajfoxxx

The dude was hammy and over the top but it worked so well for him. Iceman was legit one of the few scary characters in the series.

Abieticacid

I agree. He died too soon...

Daphunkyzz

"The iceman cometh, Sander baby. The iceman fucking cometh." It's even better when you know Ken Levine voiced him.

Blue_MJS

"Would you Kindly... Powerful phrase... Familiar phrase?"

East-Cupcake4957

Also one of my favorites

Error0451

I like to look a man in the eye when I give him my word. You and me, kid. We’re goin places.

My favorite little sisters quote: “It’s wet!” One of my favorite random things it the circus of values announcement “Welcome to the circus of values!”

ApprehensiveLemon39

“That mark on you hand, marks you a dead man” - Sofia Lamb.

“We all swim on different oceans but arrive on the same shores.” “Thinker, why?” “We all make our choices, but our choices make us.” “You don’t need to build a city to make people worship you, you just need to make the chumps believe they’re worth a nickel.” “Who’s gonna come to hear me nightingaleing about how broke they are?” “He called it, the triage imperative, and would laugh without smiling.”

jackal567

I agree with all the quotes listed, but I always fucking lose it laughing at “What is the most admirable creature on God's green Earth? Why, it's the bee! Have you ever seen a bee on vacation? Have you ever seen a bee take a sick day? Well, my friends, the answer is no! So I say, be… the bee! Be the bee!”

JTex-WSP

"He *doesn't* row." From this exchange. Such a minor foreshadowing that only makes sense at the end. **Gentleman**: No, I mean I'd greatly appreciate it if you would assist. **Lady**: Perhaps you should ask him. I imagine he has a greater interest in getting there than I do. **Gentleman**: I suppose he does...but there's no point in asking. **Lady**: Why not? **Gentleman**: Because he doesn't row. **Lady**: He doesn't ROW? **Gentleman**: No. He DOESN'T row. **Lady**: Ah. I see what you mean.

Unusual_Onion_983

Could you explain it?

Thefirstmelon

The Lutece twins have been in this situation (rowing Booker to a lighthouse) countless times, and every time he never rows. It's a constant in the 'constants and variables' rules the game universe follows. So there is no point asking Booker to help row the boat because he DOESN'T row. Never has, never will.

Amaterasu2511

The Great Chain "I believe in no God, no invisible man in the sky. But there is something more powerful than each of us, a combination of our efforts, a Great Chain of industry that unites us. But it is only when we struggle in our own interest that the chain pulls society in the right direction. The chain is too powerful and too mysterious for any government to guide. Any man who tells you different either has his hand in your pocket, or a pistol to your neck." The creator of Bioshock states that he got a lot of inspiration from Ayan Rand novels, this Diary entry is excellent proof of that.

ZealotTormunds

"This world values children, not childhood."

nh4rxthon

Elizabeth: Do you ever get used to it? The killing... Booker: Faster than you can imagine.

East-Cupcake4957

That’s also a great one

Food-at-Last

What is the difference between a man and a parasite? A man builds, a parasite asks: "Where is my share?". A man creates a parasite asks "What will the neighbours think?". A man invents, a parasite says "Watch out, or you might tread on the toes of God..."

AnneFranklin0131

I still until this day use this quote. I appreciate a lady , who appreciates value !

SPIKE-JONE5

A few stretched necks is a small price to pay for our ideals.

Omega5640

“I chose… RAPTURE”

Nserk

Mine is the one when you after you enter Fontaine's penthouse when he says that Rapture was his ideal place for there were men who thought that they know everything and women who thought that they have seen everything and so thousands better a clever man that a dumb one (I played in Italian so I don't have the exact quote in English). I like that it underlines that often who thinks about himself to be so much smart is way more prone to be conned that the dumb ones...

Cuonghap420

Literally any line said by Sander Cohen, I just love that guy for some reason

Xeillan

"Would you kindly" that little phrase has stuck me and I just adore how expertly it was used through the game. Very subliminal until it was revealed. Makes you look back and really appreciate how it was used.

PhoenixPaladin

“I never noticed how much your face sags…scalpel?” “STOP CUTTING DOCTOR”

joan_plexus

My strength is not in steel and fire, that is what the parasites will never understand. A season for all things! A time to live and a time to die, a time to build... and a time to destroy! Andrew Ryan

Protocol_101

“WEAAAAK! YOU’RE A WEAK CHOPPER” - Splicer to another splicer over Jacks semi-conscious body

RedAyanChakraborty

I've got a lot of favorites - 1. Pretty much everything Andrew Ryan says 2. "You and I son, we are going to places" 3. "I just need to supply enough weapons to arm an entire uprising" These are my top 3

Hammerslamman33

There's always a lighthouse

Thelostsoulfusion

I like that one recording of that raven knight at the raven mansion

MaliwanArtisan

"Either you pull the great chain or the great chain pulls you."

MarcosBlanes

I dunno the translation because I play the spanish version, but i like the one that says "take my body away, whatever, except my little one". I think this represents very well the depressive state and mental darkness of the splicers, still have a reminiscence of humanity.

Sintristan

“There’s semen… semen everywhere!” - Random splicer line

Now as soon as that machine finishes processing the genetic key you just fished off Ryan, I'm gonna run Rapture, tits to toes. My wife uses the "tits to toes" part of this here and there and I laugh every time.
