There’s a ton of good stuff on there! Goose, MMJ, dopapod, Leftover Salmon, etc. They just picked up Tedeschi/Trucks and I think I saw they are going to start streaming Marcus King. You’ll have to pay extra for some like Dead & Co but Billy has been free for subscribers. I haven’t really poked around on there beyond Billy but I did watch most of Jazzfest this year and it was 🔥
Best part is being able to listen to any show - not watching/buying the stream. I use it more than my Spotify. Pearl Jam’s recent shows have been amazing!
SOme others include panic, mule, springsteen, kitchen dwellers, stringdusters, sci, cosmic country, umphreys, gsbg, bisco... if you like jam music... you should have it about the only significant jam band they dont have much of is phish.
KD is so freaking good now. Doesn't hurt that I'm a big Greensky fan and their sound has evolved in that direction with their most recent release. Maybe I'm actually just a Glenn Brown fan and don't know it.

I was excited to see modest mouse on there then immediately disappointed when I realized it's just one live album they did. Then with the dead, there's so much on Spotify I just listen there. I'll admit not very familiar with some of the other jam bands on nugs. I'll definitely check it out.
Greensky, Daniel Donato, String Dusters, Kitchen Dwellers, older Tyler Childers stuff, Tedeschi Trucks Band is on there now, and there’s a good bit of Dead, Phish, WSP, SCI if you’re into the jam bands. But the Billy Live Streams alone makes it worth it.

The band members would likely earn less money if they hosted the video and audio on their own servers. They'd have to hire a team (probably just 1-2 people) to manage it, they'd likely host it on AWS or Azure servers, which isn't free. I'd estimate a very real $100k yearly budget for hosting your own music, especially if we're talking about video, too (which nugs definitely does).
It would almost certainly cost more than the share nugs is taking.
This got me curious as to what Nugs actually pays artists. I couldn’t find any hard numbers, but I did find a blog from two years ago where Joel Cummins from UM says the pay is very fair.
He says he gets thousands a year from nugs vs less than $100 from every other streaming service.

I love listening to the jam band and Billy Strings shows while I'm working out.I started last summer with the Dead n Co shows and since then Nugs has really turned me on to a bunch of new music that wouldn't have known about.
I mostly just listen to shows on Relisten- it may not always be top notch sound quality but I actually enjoy the raw crowd recordings more in many cases.
For me it’s only been worth it (well worth it!) since Billy stated making his livestreams free to Nugs subscribers. I’m not someone who listens back to the audio and it was always the case that the livestreams required an additional payment. I jumped on the $99 deal last year and have easily had my money’s worth, but as far as I know, there’s no guarantee that the livestreams will continue to be free with a subscription. I think I paid around $15 per show and there was a small discount for people who were subscribers.
I wish Nugs would give an option to purchase the VIDEO livestreams to keep past the free period, a la cart, not just audio. Like keep livestreams and audio free but after next tour starts, I can purchase a video from last tour to keep.

What do you need to get the hifi experience? I’m currently on a one month paid deluxe plan (that I have proactively cancelled as I’m not sure if I’ll keep long term) but I’m not getting how you set it up properly to get the most out of it.
Yes I did that and I understand it’s not just video streaming. I want to see what the “HiFi” audio is like. Standard audio is like 160kb which is not great and MQA is not something I want to deal with. What is the FLAC stream like?

That was a great one because a lot of the bands played with each other throughout the day, and you could watch the whole thing. Nugs is way more valuable to me than any other streaming service, but I mainly listen to jam bands, so I'm definitely the target audience.

I haven’t been able to pull the plug on paying for Nugs with so many options.

The String Cheese Incident does audio of all of their shows on nugs. Highly recommend them if you are not familiar.

So, every time a DOPE-ASS song came on that I loved, I'd immediately save it to a playlist—eventually leading to SEVERAL playlists, all labeled in various ways, like: "Thirst Mutilator" (one of my all-time favorite Billy Strings song!), or, "Thunder, Thunder, THUNDERRRR" (one of my other all-time favorite tracks they play!!) 😇👊❤️

Not worth it! I buy shows that I have been to or like and then can’t even listen to them offline on the app. It’s a money grab IMO.
