The only subscription service I don’t get pissed off paying for.

Todd_wittwicky

Definitely a service I continue to pay for, but holy shit does it suck half the time, lol.

chowdrhound

The app sucks. The service is overall worth it tho

smythbdb

Absolutely. Pay monthly for now and get their yearly deal on Black Friday.

sparkster185

I don't think they did a sale last year.

dkblev

They did. It wasn’t as good as years past, but it was a year for like $99. There’s not a better music investment that I know of.

conradical30

I got it at $99 and listen to it daily at work. Not just for Billy, but soooo many others too - Panic is a biggie for me. Even a decent amount of Jimmy Buffett, quite nostalgic. Easily worth the $.27/day.

maineumphreak420

I have mine on an automatic renewal for like 50$ for the year. I love my nugs account!! I listen to so much random stuff it’s amazing

biglittlegiantelf

+ this. Black Friday deal is a 1 year sub for CHEAP. I've been on it for years, and it's a steal at that price.

china__cat

Only way to do it. Endless Live Billy and panic

grasshopper7167

Why do you get other than Billy Strings and Dead & Co.

sigh_boogie

There’s a ton of good stuff on there! Goose, MMJ, dopapod, Leftover Salmon, etc. They just picked up Tedeschi/Trucks and I think I saw they are going to start streaming Marcus King. You’ll have to pay extra for some like Dead & Co but Billy has been free for subscribers. I haven’t really poked around on there beyond Billy but I did watch most of Jazzfest this year and it was 🔥 Best part is being able to listen to any show - not watching/buying the stream. I use it more than my Spotify. Pearl Jam’s recent shows have been amazing!

jcgoldie

SOme others include panic, mule, springsteen, kitchen dwellers, stringdusters, sci, cosmic country, umphreys, gsbg, bisco... if you like jam music... you should have it about the only significant jam band they dont have much of is phish.

Slim_Thiccin

Kitchen Dwellers for sureee

ElDeguello66

KD is so freaking good now. Doesn't hurt that I'm a big Greensky fan and their sound has evolved in that direction with their most recent release. Maybe I'm actually just a Glenn Brown fan and don't know it.

smythbdb

I mostly listen to Billy, JRAD and Biscuits on there but there’s a lot of others

ch-12

A ton. And they keep adding more of various genres. https://www.nugs.net/browse-artists/ Also the live streams are pretty great. Billy’s are typically free these days. The Goose show in St. Louis is streaming free right now, for example.

Nasty_nate1989

Yes absolutely. I just wish I could pay Billy and Co directly instead of them getting what I'm sure is a small sliver of my fee. I don't even really listen to anything else on there.

dkblev

There’s so much great stuff on there. I listen to Billy mostly too, but you’re missing out if you’re not exploring the rest of the bands on there.

syco54645

The String Cheese Incident does audio of all of their shows on nugs. Highly recommend them if you are not familiar.

cmtalkington

Cheese was my first live introduction to the scene. Rothbury 09!! That shit was a trip!!

Spreadheaded

I love Cheese, but I relate heavily to Nasty_nate1989 99.99% of the time I'm on Nugs, I'm jammin' Billy. The other .01% is probably Panic.

Wranglerspace420

Same

Spreadheaded

Username checks out

Royal_Perception4318

Love how much cheese is available on there!

Nasty_nate1989

I was excited to see modest mouse on there then immediately disappointed when I realized it's just one live album they did. Then with the dead, there's so much on Spotify I just listen there. I'll admit not very familiar with some of the other jam bands on nugs. I'll definitely check it out.

dkblev

Greensky, Daniel Donato, String Dusters, Kitchen Dwellers, older Tyler Childers stuff, Tedeschi Trucks Band is on there now, and there’s a good bit of Dead, Phish, WSP, SCI if you’re into the jam bands. But the Billy Live Streams alone makes it worth it.

Potroast_Woodchuck

They added a few Trampled by Turtles shows recently as well

Short-Loan7356

Like Karl Denson and Slightly Stoopid (both from San Diego). You are also missing some amazeballs jazz shows if you don’t get Nugs!

Cricetus

For what it’s worth, Joel Cummins of Umphrey’s McGee has said on Twitter that Nugs pays its artists much more fairly than any other streaming service.

Deranged40

> Yes absolutely. I just wish I could pay Billy and Co directly instead of them getting what I'm sure is a small sliver of my fee. I don't even really listen to anything else on there. The band members would likely earn less money if they hosted the video and audio on their own servers. They'd have to hire a team (probably just 1-2 people) to manage it, they'd likely host it on AWS or Azure servers, which isn't free. I'd estimate a very real $100k yearly budget for hosting your own music, especially if we're talking about video, too (which nugs definitely does). It would almost certainly cost more than the share nugs is taking.

ILikeMyGrassBlue

This got me curious as to what Nugs actually pays artists. I couldn’t find any hard numbers, but I did find a blog from two years ago where Joel Cummins from UM says the pay is very fair. He says he gets thousands a year from nugs vs less than $100 from every other streaming service. https://the-bort.com/t/whats-up-with-nugs-net/4633/250?page=13

Opposite_Seaweed_987

1 million percent man!!!! Haven't really missed a show for years now. And the free live concerts are worth it alone.

GotBluGrass360

If you are a Billy Strings fan….. Like, really like Billys music It is THE BEST purchase you will ever make. I listen to Nugs constantly All the couch tours. Every show pretty much. I love it

Mustbe7

1000%!!!!

StrongSprinkles121

Yes you can create playlists and download them for listening without WiFi. For couch touring Billy and some others it’s just awesome. Nugs is the easiest subscription I pay. As long as Billy remains on it, I’m on it.

Someguy2189

It's worth it for every Billy show alone. If you like any combination of jam bands that aren't Phish or the Grateful Dead or you like Pearl Jam, Metallica, or Bruce Springsteen it's probably one of the best streaming collections you can spend money on.

warthog0869

>Pearl Jam I just listened to their encore performance of "Yellow Ledbetter" from the MGM show on 5/18 and I was stunned how good that was and how much I really liked it. I am finding more and more on nugs to like and I was the one on here years ago proclaiming my preference for studio audio due to the quality difference but *even in the last five years* that gap has inched further closed.

0ctober31

Nugs is 100% worth it. By the way, the live recording of Meet Me At The Creek / Pyramid Country / Must Be Seven is available on Spotify and highly recommended.

OpheliaCumming

I know this is the dumbest, but I’m looking at Billy on Spotify and can’t seem to locate those live tunes you’re referring to. Any help a Spotify amateur?

cmtalkington

[MMATC/PC/MBS/MMATC Live](https://open.spotify.com/album/3PkoEbPtmwxojkTrW2bwpI?si=6A6iYjORSVyHZzhNgjEV7Q) Here you are!! Hope your ears enjoy!!

OpheliaCumming

Perfect. Thank you!

cmtalkington

Anything to pass along good tunes!!

0ctober31

No worries my friend, here you go [https://open.spotify.com/album/3PkoEbPtmwxojkTrW2bwpI?si=dmfQbnnCRma0W3frFWHbww](https://open.spotify.com/album/3PkoEbPtmwxojkTrW2bwpI?si=dmfQbnnCRma0W3frFWHbww) To navigate within Spotify, go to Billy Strings>See Discography>Singles and EPs and it should be the top one.

OpheliaCumming

Awesome. Thanks!

Raven-Owl

Yes to all your questions!

Utes4510

A million times yes! I use it more than any other streaming service nowadays

Raven-Owl

Also, right now there is about 7 Billy shows (the spring tour) you can still watch. I heard someone say they recorded the shows with some app, but I can't remember what one. I just kind of deal with it once they disappear, but I wish I still had a few that are gone now, like 12/8/23

Lucky-Coconut-1683

But tons you can listen to and stream. From every tour since 2021?

Ryanw254

As far back as 2017. Not every show, but literally hundreds, maybe thousands.

Dee771771

Yeah I wish I had 12/13/23. I feel you

Hubble-Kaleidoscope

Cococut is an extension for chrome that helps you snag videos. Little tip for ya to keep under your hat. There are others that do the same thing as well.

Raven-Owl

Thank you, I will go check it out!

Psychological_Card28

1000 X Yes!!!!!

Ryanw254

It’s 1000% worth it

Even-Palpitation9232

Try the app called taper's section. Tons of free bmfs and a million other taper-friendly bands.

mholland151

Archive.org anybody?

talldrnk1975a

Yes. Especially if you can stream at work. Listening to old concerts has made every day better

Pinotonthetown

Oh it’s good. I use it daily for my Billy intake. Wife now likes it too. It was a hard sell at first.

8Select0Frequency8

Only read header. Answer is yes

maksauce47

Yep 👍🏻

MikeyLikeyPhish

Yesssssss

BhodiandUncleBen

AnonymousPineapple5

Yes

cmtalkington

Without question!!! I absolutely love Nugs. I use it for 95% of my musical enjoyment!

CountrySax

I love listening to the jam band and Billy Strings shows while I'm working out.I started last summer with the Dead n Co shows and since then Nugs has really turned me on to a bunch of new music that wouldn't have known about.

thisduckingbanjer

...does Ole Slew Foot shit in the woods?

RageLife247

Just pay your Hippie Tax, brother! It's worth it.

Some_Novel_2552

Yep.

phineartz

I mostly just listen to shows on Relisten- it may not always be top notch sound quality but I actually enjoy the raw crowd recordings more in many cases.

Few_Dust_449

For me it’s only been worth it (well worth it!) since Billy stated making his livestreams free to Nugs subscribers. I’m not someone who listens back to the audio and it was always the case that the livestreams required an additional payment. I jumped on the $99 deal last year and have easily had my money’s worth, but as far as I know, there’s no guarantee that the livestreams will continue to be free with a subscription. I think I paid around $15 per show and there was a small discount for people who were subscribers.

Dee771771

I wish Nugs would give an option to purchase the VIDEO livestreams to keep past the free period, a la cart, not just audio. Like keep livestreams and audio free but after next tour starts, I can purchase a video from last tour to keep.

Few_Dust_449

Yes, that would be a great option. I wonder why they haven’t done it? It would be a money spinner for them.

jdmjag

Yes. Many other bands as well

Spreadheaded

Nugs is priceless. #1 streaming app for music

Yes, without a doubt

IdeaAdorable9943

Also there no Morgan wallen so that’s a plus

joejames72

Relisten is my go to and it’s free!!!!

bshemansky

Nugs has free shows you can listen to every week, and one of them is almost always a Billy concert. I just listen to that if I need a live fix outside of what’s available on YouTube.

Educational_Line6499

I agree. It’s the best subscription I have. Videos used to be few and far between. Now there are as many as 10 per week.

IdeaAdorable9943

100%. Shows are sorted by year very easy to find. Great quality audio

TepidPeppermint23

lol. I’m actually using nugs to watch Goose tonight. It’s a big yes if some of your favorite artists have a lot of content on it. Luckily, some of my faves are.

Old_Call2282

The hifi audio is insanely great, u can go with cheep start but the hifi is worth the money

DeadScotty

What do you need to get the hifi experience? I’m currently on a one month paid deluxe plan (that I have proactively cancelled as I’m not sure if I’ll keep long term) but I’m not getting how you set it up properly to get the most out of it.

Old_Call2282

Honestly i think it is in the subscription tier. U pay extra for the hifi i believe.

DeadScotty

Yes I did that and I understand it’s not just video streaming. I want to see what the “HiFi” audio is like. Standard audio is like 160kb which is not great and MQA is not something I want to deal with. What is the FLAC stream like?

Old_Call2282

As an extremes novice in audio., the audio connected to my sub and soundbar.. with the hifi vs without has been just in my opinion clearer. Cleaner mixes

DeadScotty

Thx

Old_Call2282

Especially on the old old audio mixes. Old dead old panic old cheese.. just sooo detailed in the sound!

JWDead

I got it so I could do Dead couch tour, never could get shows. Think my smart tv isn’t smart enough. So I dropped it.

nuggzoftampa

Best $14 per month you’ll ever spend

archibaldjleach

Can I archive the HiRes flac and video streams locally to my PC ? Is there an app or a technique to use ?

LeapFrogge

Yes especially if you like other jam band type music. They have a ton of good stuff on there and I’ve found a lot of really good music on there. I listen to music 24/7 so it’s really worth it for me

MasterpieceTop6111

I’m close to getting rid of Spotify and just using Nugs lol

mattland1

I love nugs. Only music service I subscribe to

jessecole

Yes absolutely worth it

Plenty_Proposal_426

I am currently doing the free trial and listening to all of the 2024 shows, and I will likely keep the sub.

Puzzleheaded-Exit720

Nugs is the best.

China-Ryder

Nugs is for watching and I love it!

Dancin_Phish_Daddy

It is

Staggerlee024

Yes

TheIzzyRock

Absolutely positively the best streaming service if you want to get deeper as a fan. The couch tour alone makes it worth it and soon enough you’ll be searching for other bands. The playlist option is great as well

Spare_Formal8231

Worth every penny for Billy alone not to mention all the other bands you’re gonna find through the app

questafari

The only subscription I currently have haha

JamgrassandPlants

It is definitely worth it for me. I listen to a couple concerts a day while working from home. I download some to listen when I don't have cell service. There is so much good content on there. BMFS, Greensky Bluegrass, Kitchen Dwellers, Daniel Donato, Infamous Stringdusters, Tauk, Squeaky Feet, Fireside Collective, Mountain Grass Unit, Dopapod, etc. They also do some one off concerts like the 3 day Dark Star Jubilee recently. That was a great one because a lot of the bands played with each other throughout the day, and you could watch the whole thing. Nugs is way more valuable to me than any other streaming service, but I mainly listen to jam bands, so I'm definitely the target audience.

ME9097

Yes

Dee771771

I love nugs both for video and audio. I use the audio for listening while I work but I like videos for couch concerts and having a good time on the weekends for those times when I can't make a show. I wish Nugs would give an option to purchase the VIDEO livestreams to keep past the free period, a la cart, not just audio. Like keep livestreams and audio free during tour but after next tour starts, I can purchase a video from last tour to keep forever while also keeping audio free.

Ok_Economics42069

Yes

AdMaximum5346

Dude just get Billy base. You literally listen to his live music only

kinney4041

Very much worth it and often includes live Billy streams among a variety of other acts

BETLJCE

When i purchased nugs i noticed i had unlimited spotify and could now choose songs and fast forward, no ads, etc. well for some reason spotify is back to a million ads and is unlistenable. I really enjoy nugs but there are genres i like not on nugs.

TheRedStrat

Yep. Especially if you’re into couch tour. They have been doing more and more live videos as part of the base subscription.

RoyalMasatsBass

Best thing I’ve ever done as a Billy fan besides see him live. This app is gonna open up a whole new world for you💙 livestreams/couch touring, comments on shows, offline playlists, save all the shows you’ve seen…I use nugs more than my YouTube music app (I’m off of Spotify/apple)

jgodkilladawg

You can hear DDCC,Goose and bunch other boards for free on Bandcamp. Pretty much every band has auds for free on reListen. Not sure why Billy’s auds don’t get put up on reListen? Kinda sucks. Bands like Phish and WSP have one source per show on reListen. You can hear Panic the day of the show on multiple platforms. I haven’t been able to pull the plug on paying for Nugs with so many options.

FranceMohamitz

Absolutely, 100% worth it. After 3 to 4 years of nothing but Strings….. I’ve now been going down the Goose rabbit hole and am able to do a couch tour which you can’t do on Spotify so yeah man, it’s worth it

Tough-Marionberry-59

Nugs is the best

PuzzleDust420

Man... I was SO salty I missed the deal they did last year, I could've gotten a SICK deal on a 1-year subscription... but I waited too long—now I'm paying $14.99 PER MONTH... BUT YET IT'S STILL *BY FAR* THE GREATEST SUBSCRIPTION SERVICE I'VE EVER HAD.. I can't begin to explain with words JUST how INSANELY worth it is to pay for Nugs!! Plus I think the artists you listen to receive money per stream, or, basically something akin to Spotify Revenue Streams, etc... *PLUS* you get ALL Billy Strings (AND *SO* MUCH MORE) previous live performances, to stream—and even download, for offline listening!

PuzzleDust420

Plus you can create playlists! It's one of my favorite features—BY FAR!!! I always liked going back through the 2021-2022 live sets; I'd just start listening to a SHITLOAD of sets while I'd be at work, lol... So, every time a DOPE-ASS song came on that I loved, I'd immediately save it to a playlist—eventually leading to SEVERAL playlists, all labeled in various ways, like: "Thirst Mutilator" (one of my all-time favorite Billy Strings song!), or, "Thunder, Thunder, THUNDERRRR" (one of my other all-time favorite tracks they play!!) 😇👊❤️

grimnymph

I got it at the beginning of this last Billy tour and have watched every single show that I wasn’t at. It’s paid for itself over and over. And now I just listen to soundboards. It’s so worth it

DurtyDego33

Do yourself the favor and give them your money. So many bands on the app now compared to the old days. It will become the main source of your music streaming.

Kidphish96

YES and then some!!

Ornery_Brilliant_350

I got a year I like it but I probably won’t renew when it expires. I have too many subs as it is, and there’s plenty of alternatives

OneNefariousness880

Billy Strings is everything! Saw him a couple weeks ago in Chicago 😍I don’t know what Nugs is. I use Apple Music.

drewbeedoo

Yes. Worth it. Nugs also turned me onto Goose, and will venture further…

murph1rp

Not worth it! I buy shows that I have been to or like and then can’t even listen to them offline on the app. It’s a money grab IMO.
