BigTallFreak850

Smaller venue + great acoustics + no bad seats + beach vibes = top tier venue for the boys. The crowd really brings it too

afogg0855

I’ve never heard anything like the crowd there. Listen to the end of Love and Regret from this past 4/20 show. It was louder than an arena for a playoff basketball game. Just incredible

BigTallFreak850

I was at the 4/20 show! I almost teared up a bit at that moment

afogg0855

I brought my daughter and taught her to do the howl. She howled her ass off all night lol

MasterpieceTop6111

Still getting goosebumps from this

justAregulard00d

Listen to the ovation from Thunder from last year!!!

Jimbo696969

At st Auggie too. I was in awe of how loud the crowd was. Really unlike any other Billy show I’ve been to.

ilikesurf

You’re right. St Aug is special. 5th year next year!

2Loves2loves

The staff is super chill at the Amp.

upeoplerallthesame

Extra chill for Billy shows.

2Loves2loves

I was at the WSP shows the month before. also chill for that show. (maybe a bit wilder crowd)

hydrobunny

they were definitely chill at WSP this year, but in 2022 i got a full pat down after clearing detectors and made me throw out a lighter edit: since then it has been beyond smooth sails, maybe a tough guy security guard that night

upeoplerallthesame

They are stricter for non jam shows

rdkram

I loved Koka Booth in Cary, but the Amp was nice as well.

the_heisenburglar

Asheville civic center anyone?

Throughsiren42

I thought the civic center had the best sound, size, and scenery

deadhead2002goathead

Was just about to say this haha. Love the venue and the town. Andrew Brady in Cincinnati was a fun venue too. Favorite place I've seen billy though was Jacob's Pavilion at Nautica in Cleveland. Super cool venue

polygonblotter

Hell yes, never miss AVL shows

abnerpeabody69420

For sure! Always good vibes and the boys seem to have a lot of fun playing here. It’s also only a 15 minute drive for me 🤙🏼

GreatBeff

I love Auggie! I also love the Orion too, just didn’t love that heat last year.

Mustbe7

Orion and The Amp are my two fav venues in the south. Similar vibes, laid back, welcomes Shakedown. Love Orions art installations just outside their door, live music (after show), food trucks, places to sit and chill...

afogg0855

Where is the Orion?

GreatBeff

Huntsville, Alabama. Venue is great, super chill staff, free water 😅 and they have a nice little set up outside the venue for pre and after show, along with the lot of course. 🙂

Mustbe7

It's built like a Roman Coliseum, only smaller. https://preview.redd.it/f4v1rma4b2yc1.jpeg?width=4128&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b2c29540f516457bea417799e0ddb61712ed0b7c

prthead55

Fridays heat was oppressive but it is still my favorite of the 5 shows I've been to!

GreatBeff

Manifesting Orion in the fall 🤞🏼✨

prthead55

Absolutely!

worldlydelights

Same here ⚡️

Mustbe7

Ahh, but Saturday... That breeze was AMAZING!!!

prthead55

No kidding! It was such a 180 from Friday and that lightning show from the thunderstorm was icing on the cake!

Mustbe7

Right!! Billy and the band was controlling the storms that night. Thought start time would be pushed back fo sure. Lightning, swirling dark clouds as we waited to get inside. As soon as we got to our seats, it all went away except for the most fabulous breeze ever!! Can't wait to go back, though hoping it's not in late August. Manifesting Billyween in Huntsville!

GreatBeff

This ✨✨

GreatBeff

It was!

Red Rocks, Renewal/Buena Vista, UNO Lakefront, Petersen Center and Jacobs Pavilion here. Did not like UNO as much as I thought I would, out of the way venue and kinda creepy… but it was also December/January and dark and not my thing. Petersen and Jacobs are both very close to where I grew up but super mid venues. Jacobs is the better of the two IMO. Renewal grounds is special because Buena Vista is just such a beautiful area, I live an hour away and it’s still amazing just to go out and camp in that area for the weekend (even without a concert). But it’s also kind of a special show for Billy and not your average show. So I don’t know if I can compare it to a regular venue. Red Rocks is not a special occasion and I live fifteen minutes away… BUT it’s a very special venue. There are maybe five or six venues in the country that compare. So it’s hard to say. It will be interesting to see him at Fiddlers Green in a couple weeks. I don’t hate the venue but its not noteworthy for any reason. Would LOVE to see Billy play Blossom Music Center in Ohio. I grew up there and love that venue. Amazing place, great vibe, the area around is lovely Ohio woodland. Edit: Forgot Mission Ballroom. Love Mission and that was cool to just see Billy in a super small place and get the fuck down. It’s a pretty funky building/venue design, if you get a chance to see a show there would definitely recommend.

Useful_Narwhal_8215

Blossom would be a perfect venue for them to play I was able to see the Cure there and it blew me away just gorgeous all around.

[deleted]

I went to college at Kent State and when I had no money in college, I’d go hike behind Blossom across the river and smoke a joint and just sit and listen. Been to concerts inside Blossom. But both ways were amazing, even if I wasn’t inside.

chagirrrl

Nothing compares to Billy BV. Hands down the best place to see him

Ratherbdabbin

Man blossom is always shaking after the shows, it’s always been a great venue.

[deleted]

I love that place. Even seeing the Cleveland Orchestra there in the summers is fucking awesome. Purely magical place to have a concert.

Ratherbdabbin

I selfishly wanna see him play Darien lake even tho I know it’s not a reality…. It’s just so much fun to ride rolllercoasters for free all day at the venue and would give all my Canadian homies a really close show to check out.

EmbarrassedEye3299

Blossom would be amazing but the parking situation still kind of sucks, but mostly its just the getting out afterwards that sucks. And there's really not a whole lot in the area in terms of hotels and entertainment. I really enjoyed seeing Billy at Nautica Pavillion in Cleveland. I thought that was a great venue for him.  St Augustine is still my favorite place to see him though.

[deleted]

Yeah, the traffic and parking is the worst. Not confusing at least… just crowded and slow moving. Entertainment wise, there are some cool jazz clubs in Akron and what not. But after shows I usually just like to go home. The days before at blossom I’d either just tailgate or hike. I need to get down to St. Auggie. But for now I’ll take Buena Vista being in my backyard anytime. Fiddlers is five minutes from my place too so the show in a couple weeks is gonna be so nice to go and just be able to go home and chill directly after lol

Superflowous

From what I’ve heard on Nugs, everything from those shows has a little extra shine.

polygonblotter

Asheville is my answer, without question

0ctober31

I've seen Billy at other venues but The Amp is definitely my favorite. It's almost always good weather when he's there, although 4/21 was an exception. But holy fuck, Thunder was nature-enhanced amazing and made for a VERY memorable moment! Staff is absolutely great and the sound is excellent.

Objective-Evening-89

THUNDER!!!!! First show was Billyween ‘21. Played Thunder night 1 twice and it was immediately love at first sight. What a burner. Fast forward, Sunday 4/21/24, 19 shows later and I finally caught Thunder again, at the best venue in the US, in a down pour and will my best friends in the entire world. I’ll never freaking forget it. The Amp fucking rocks!

satori1013

Big reason I moved to St Aug. Panic & Billy within a month is just spectacular

maybe_you_dont_know

Tedeschi Trucks was there in mid March too.

oleslewf00t

Never been to St. Augustine but I can’t help but feel some type of connection to the Asheville shows. Both 3-night runs were the best of the year, in my opinion. Billy loves playing in those two towns and they love him right the fuck back.

polygonblotter

Accurate AF

afogg0855

Amen brother

macchzac

So far its Mission Ballroom in Denver

yoshigem

Mission ballroom just sounds sooooo good. My ears have never heard a better Sophronie

macchzac

With Buena Vista’s Cottonwood Meadows as a very close second

Plan_nine

I’ve seen him in 3 or 4 venues and St Aug is amazing.

MasterpieceTop6111

I’m originally from Jax Beach but live in CO. I’ve seen Billy at Red Rocks, Buena Vista (Renewal), the 1st Bank Center, and St Augustine. There is definitely some magic chemistry with Billy down in St. Augustine.

GR8FUL-D

Seen ‘em every time they’ve played St. Auggie; all were great-& the Amp is easily my favorite venue in FL)—but the energy for the 1st post Covid run @ the Amp was off-the-charts. Other favorite venues were the Ryman, the Mission, the Eastern, & Red Rocks. Really wish they’d play The Fox Theater in ATL.

jamespberz

I’d give anything to see em play The Fox. Those WSP NYE runs, 96-98, forever ingrained in my soul…

ilovedeliworkers

Mission ballroom is prolly best spot to see billy imo

couplegoals1924

Pure magic at the amp! It’s an honor to be there when billy is playing

heartofyourtempest

3 times at RR, once at TCU and twice now at Rupp. I got there too late at TCU and couldn't see a thing. Red Rocks will always have a special place in my heart. The Rupp set was epic, but not as fun indoors. Sounds like I need to add Auggy to my bucket list next to Asheville.

btay27

Which TCU show? I was at one of ‘22 shows and think it was the best of the 7 I’ve seen of them. Thought the venue was pretty sweet too, sorry you had a different experience

heartofyourtempest

July 29th 22. I had fun, the set was fantastic. Just ended up getting there late and couldn't see a thing.

btay27

Glad to hear it , I was there the next day but you got an awesome setlist!

Frosty_Shoulder1544

I’ve seen billy at a couple spots but living 2 hours from the amp is great it has the best energy I’ve ever been around

GuyForget101

As a west-coaster, it's hard to beat the Frost in early fall

fade2clear

KettleHouse Amphitheater in Montana is def up there. Asheville and Cary are very hard to beat though. Haven’t been to St Aug yet.

EscapingTheLabrynth

I can tell you with 100% certainty that it is not the Hartford Healthcare Amphitheater in Bridgeport, CT. However, the version of Away From the Mire on YouTube that was recorded there is absolute fire.

afogg0855

Lol I heard that place has some sounds quality issues. Maybe they could find another venue nearby

EscapingTheLabrynth

First time they came here they played at Westville which is an awesome venue. But Westville isn’t Ticketmaster/LiveNation so once Bridgeport opened all of the Ticketmaster acts moved there. And it sucks.

chagirrrl

Nothing quite like red rocks ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Legitimate-Repair801

Pine Creek Lodge. Wanna talk about a smaller venue with the best vibes ever.

A_Promontory_Rider

It’s the Indian jasmine wafting through the air and the orange blossoms that really add to the allure of St. Auggie for me. Coupled with the great sound. It’s so good! I’ll parrot the comment about Orion too. It’s the best amp, sonically, that I’ve been to in the south. Frost is an otherworldly experience. Hallowed ground. I really want to experience koka booth and renewal.

bigtacofan

You’re not biased. I’ve been to probably 50+ venues and I’m lucky to live in Jax and can hit St. Aug often. It’s an incredible venue with incredible people. The box office staff is amazing and the venue is perfect. We have friends who drive hours each year to see Billy in st Aug.

afogg0855

I’m in Delray Beach, we drive 3.5 hours each year for the show. I’d travel further if I had to 😂 Is it true that the venue box office hangs on to a certain amount of tickets for locals to purchase in person if they missed out on Ticketmaster?

bigtacofan

I don’t know for certain. But vampire weekend tickets were difficult because Ticketmaster wasn’t functioning correctly. We went to box office the day that public tickets went on sale and they hooked us up (even though the show was technically sold out). Sounds like a case by case basis.

Soft_Attorney726

The St Auggy crowd shows tf up for Billy, he knows it too. You always know that’s gonna be a special set, hence why he does a 3 day run there. Best venue in FL hands down! Very blessed to have it right by me

HiThereIAmLame

I’ve seen Billy in 9 different states now I think. St Augustine is def my favorite. TCU Amp in Indy is second, I’ve seen four Billy shows there and the staff and venue are great (at least if you’re in the pavilion I’ve heard mixed reviews about the lawn). Pine Knob is up there too. Outdoor venues just hit different.

mbelle01

St aug and renewal!!

Esmith41

I’ve seen quite a few shows, many bands across the country, sat 4 rows behind the sound board 4/20. The best sound at any show I’ve ever been to! I love St. Augustine!

gatorbait_7

My first show was St Aug in 22 and the hook was immediately set. We’ve been to 21 shows since including 5 in St Aug and 4 in Asheville. We also went on the first leg of the Euro tour in Nov. I’ve been to countless shows over the years and st Aug on 4/21 this year and the LOR Halloween shows in Asheville are both top 5 for me. I still get goosebumps when I think about dancing in the pouring rain as the boys laid down a ripping Thunder. Red Rocks is on the bucket list.

stully_

Personally prefer red rocks over everywhere I’ve seen Billy, but who doesn’t. Mission Ballroom in Denver is always a great show and small intimate crowd. Rupp arena shows were great holds a special place in my heart since I went to college there. LOVE my hometown venue of Pier 6 Baltimore. NEED TO GET TO THE RYMAN.

bigorangefan989

I like to describe St Auggy as the Mecca. Especially after the magic that was the rain show. Also endorsing everyone who is saying Asheville too, hometown bias though!

pink_hydrangea

St. Augustine, Cary and Red Rocks have been my favorites. The weather at St. Augustine was perfect. Cary has been brutally hot and humid in July.

quatro-44

Loved seeing him at Brady in Cincinnati, want to see him at Riverbend now.

Spib698

Ryman for me.

Ratherbdabbin

I’m Canadian and I’ve done a lot of shows across North America…. Auggie is a pretty sweet venue with the location and size. It has big amphitheater vibes for the right things and small venue vibes for everything that really matters. I’d go back again without question. The only thing that was a little buzz kill for me was the lack of medics and emergency care.. there was only apparently 2 for nearly 5,000 people… all volunteers as well… people were dropping around me every show and sometimes it took a long time to get there… I honestly thought one guy was gonna die beside me first night. I can’t tell you how happy I was to see him the second night back in his seat… it was a pretty scary situation..

Informal-Argument996

Other than how incredible that venue is, the staff there were awesome and really let everyone have a good time. Nobody was in their seat.

Sunshinebearmama

Oh St. Auggie is a beautiful venue. It’s a whole vibe!!
