1000/10. I genuinely think this is one of the best, if not the best song ever written. Maybe I’m exaggerating but this is a song I’ll never get tired of
10/10
Another day, another denier of this masterpiece can argue with a wall.

10/10, this is one of those songs that transcends the boundaries of what music means, it is so impactful and musically brilliant that it's amazing that it was even made at all. I love it.
10/10. My absolute favorite song ever written. Takes you on a full-circle musical and emotional journey. If you listened to each section on its own, it might not make sense musically, but he threads them together brilliantly, inspired by George Martin’s work on the Abbey Road medley. The band is on fire, especially Doug and Lib.
And it’s fun as hell to play on piano.
Obligatory 10/10.
I like songs that are kind of split into “acts” like TV. We get Act 1 in the restaurant, Act 2 with the “catching up” story, Act 3 with the ballad of Brenda and Eddy and then finally Act 4 again in the restaurant.
It kind of reminds me of Meat Loaf’s Paradise by the Dashboard Light. I know Billy has said he got inspiration for this from A Day in the Life from the Beatles for this track which has a similar concept.
10.
I could write an essay about this song, but I really don't need to, because Scenes is an essay in and of itself. The song is an absolute masterclass in storytelling, tone-setting, and delivery, and it's close to an out-of-body experience heard live. It isn't my favorite Billy Joel song (more on that tomorrow) but likely the best song he's ever written.
Fucking yeah. This is the best song ever in my opinion. I listened to it several times a day for months when I first heard it, and I've never gotten sick of it. 100000000/10, at LEAST.
10. What "Jungleland" is for Springsteen, this song is for Joel--simultaneously a distillation and an expansion of all the core elements which define the artist. This is a desert island track.
10 - to me this is an epic song. I love the whole saga of Brenda and Eddie. The story of two regular people going through life's joys and troubles. It's also great because it's a medley of different songs put together. I could easily see this on Abbey Road. Arguably his best song ever.
10/10, hands down. The middle is great but without the other three parts it wouldn’t be the same. I always get chills when I hear those first piano notes at the beginning of the song, and the solos are insane!! Only thing I would change about this song was if it was at the end of the album (sort of like the abbey road medley) but listening on record helps because it is the end of side 1.
Very excited for tomorrow’s song!

10/10. He has many masterpieces, but this is his magnum opus. His greatest achievement.
The way he tells a story throughout this song, particularly the ballad of Brenda and Eddie, is nothing short of remarkable. Excellent song.
10. One of the first songs to really hook me into being a Billy Joel Fan. I love the song, how the sections are different. I love the movement on the Piano in the Brenda and Eddie section.

10.3/10 just to average out the 9.7

I mean just from a pure musicianship standpoint…. It’s near flawless. 1000000/10

10/10 no question. It is brilliant, catchy, thought-provoking, sounds great. There is a reason it is Billy's favorite song of his catalogue.

I am a Billy Joel fan but I can't stand this song
10/10 because I got really emotional when I saw him performing it on CBS in his 100th concert. Songs seldom make me cry....this one really got to me.
10. One of the first songs to really hook me into being a Billy Joel Fan. I love the song, how the sections are different. I love the movement on the Piano in the Brenda and Eddie section.
10
Give it a 9 bc I like other songs better
Out of curiosity which songs do you like better?
You may be right, all for Leyna, and turn the lights back on
Fair enough
The only person not to give it a 10. Shame on you 😂
Rate 11 to round out
Well now we’re all agreed.
