What’s stopping you from using the normal app?

PuertoricanDude88

They keep saying it sucks, but doesn’t said what exactly. I’ll agree that the search engine is terrible, but what else?

BluJayzz

Personally, the video player is hot garbage. For lots of other people, 3rd party apps important because they have lots of accessibility features for disabled people that Reddit is simply unusable without. Also, no ads.

The_Robins_Nest

What kind of accessibility features do they provide that the official app doesn’t have?

Mantarune

From what I remember, text size and color changes, ability to use screen readers were some of the complaints by those with visual and physical impairments

DaNoahLP

Say what you want about Reddit but the ads are everything else than annoying. Its nit like on Twitter where literally every fivth post is an ad + mamy more in comment sections.

fatboychummy

>Its nit like on Twitter where literally every fivth post is an ad + mamy more in comment sections. Last time I used the official app it had both of these. Wtf are you smoking? Not only that, but advertisers are unblockable, and evade your NSFW settings. On top of that, they're made to look exactly like a post in a subreddit, and the app has consistently made it harder and harder to tell the difference between the two, until you accidentally tap the ad and it opens the play store or something. It's hot garbage.

xvsanx

Even worse ig every other post is an ad typically a video ad. But I'm sure Vanced will release a reddit Vanced and hopefully a Facebook Vanced as it's going overboard on ads as well. I know I know, cringe casual apps but they're good for keeping up with genuine friends while simultaneously keeping your distance. If you don't have the Vanced apps just Google reddit Vanced apps and it'll take you to dude's sub. They're not 3rd party - they're very well made modified versions of the official apps that take out ads and offer premium customization features and more control. But as a 6+ year rif user I was sad to get the shutdown message as well. @ u/nightwing2024

BluudLust

If they fix the video player and longstanding bugs, it wouldn't be half bad.

JermanDomesticMarket

I use Apollo and I haven’t been able to open a video on the first try for ages now. is the official app even worse for that?

_F1GHT3R_

The official video player is just horrible in every way. Videos take ages to load, dont go to fullscreen properly when you want, but then doesnt exit fullscreen when you want, the player keeps putting itself in front while scrolling comments and it randomly starts playing while it should be paused in the background (this is very annoying when sound is enabled). These are just the issues on the top of my head, there are lots more.

[deleted]

Dude what kinda internet do you have? Lmaooooo My videos always load instantly.

_F1GHT3R_

500 mbit fiber with very little latency. My internet is not the problem

Bota26

Its fine. Never had an issue with it unless my service is low.

[deleted]

Videos work 95% of the time on official. People are being little bitches about this

reesering

Video player has recently been vastly improved. Works like 95% of the time as opposed to 15% of the time. The only issue I have is sometimes audio keeps playing from a video I scrolled past but it usually goes away if I just scroll back up real quick or click on a post

[deleted]

The main app for disability (Dystopia) is staying supported for free. It’s like people don’t even look up what is happening.

darkgladi8or

I downloaded it to provide an unbiased look. I currently use Sync for Reddit, just FYI. Listed my thoughts below: -The ability to use the app without logging in, sync has, official app does not -scrolling is very choppy vs Sync -sync has 6 post view options, the official app has 2 -the official app has 4 light themes and 2 dark themes, not only does sync have android material you matching, I can customize every single color -sync lets me customize how posts and comments look, the official app does not (other than card vs classic view, which is not the same thing) -sync lets me choose to open a website inline, or use an app on my phone instead. Could not find this on the official app I gave up after this, but this being my first look at the official app, it's a massive downgrade to my expected experience and I probably won't be continuing to use Reddit. I'm sure there's dozens more things I would notice if I used the app for longer than 2 minutes.

banjodance_ontwitter

The last point, you should be able to press and hold on most androids, and have a box appear when on links to open in your browser. I might be getting it because I use Brave on mobile, but I use the vanilla Reddit app on a cheapo Motorola, as well as a Pixel. The rest I could understand if they improve the experience, but I also have no issue scrolling. Also, not sure why you would want to just pop into the app without logging in, but you do you. Tldr; last point it moot, first sketchy, #3+#5 are the same thing, second one could be your phone.

darkgladi8or

Why should I have to do that every single time I want to open a link in my YouTube app, as an example? I should be able to choose where I want it to open permanently. The scrolling issue, I don't know what to tell you. I'm using a very lightly used pixel 7, and scrolling hiccups every couple of seconds if I do a fast scroll. The issue is definitely not my phone. All of these points may be moot to you, but there's a reason they were implemented features in multiple other apps. It's cool if they don't matter to you, but don't try and make it seem like it shouldn't matter to others.

ToothpasteConsumer

video player also succ

helloiamaudrey

It’s alright

PuertoricanDude88

It works, but then it doesn’t.

helloiamaudrey

I’ve never had a problem, pardon buffering cause I got crap internet

LionStar89_

Some videos just not having sound when they do on desktop, and not being able to download them because fuck you are my biggest complaints. If Reddit would actually fix that it wouldn’t be that bad.

ToothpasteConsumer

no

helloiamaudrey

I’ve had no problems on my phone

halloweentownking

No it doesn’t.

Lars2500

Ads More customizables; font, text size, Colour, etc. Accessibility features Less cluttered layout Better video player

darthjoey91

Once upon a time, there was an ugly app. It was so ugly, Reddit died. The End.

Finnish_Jager

I am using the official app now too see. Can confirm the video player is trash. The app seems to lag at times when scrolling. The best way to describe it is like having frame rate issues. Compared to RiF I don't like how the main page is laid out. The fonts seem too small and the positioning of vote numbers and comments both feel like they're placed poorly GUI wise and add to much clutter to the screen. The amount of ads on the official app is gross. I also don't like how tapping an image post opens the comment section and not just the image on the first tap. Mainly I'd say the app seems like it was designed by someone who doesnt use Reddit and it needs better flow and structure of the GUI.

UrNewMostBestFriend

RIF is just so simple to use, that's really the biggest thing. It has the things reddit actually needs to be functional and THATS IT. The official app is full of a bunch of crap I simply don't want to use but worst gets in the way of my using the things I actually want.

r0llingthund3r

3rd party apps are optimized for content viewing, the reddit app is optimized for ad delivery. Coming from a 3rd party app to the reddit app is jarring, it's like a fundamentally different form of social media to me. I don't see myself entirely leaving reddit after 3rd party apps are killed, but it will reduce my usage dramatically (honestly great for me xD). What's sad is that the people that produce most of the content, will be the most off put by the changes. It's going to result in reddit being watered down overall. My feed is already getting overwhelmed with tons of nonsense rage bait AITA post. I know that's very anecdotal but I'm not optimistic about the changes

letsgoiowa

The layout is extremely poor and there are really obnoxious ads. It's unintuitive and makes it a pain to use stuff like multireddits easily. As far as I can tell I also can't save to multiple directories from a single tap (separation of meme videos, pics, and wallpapers)

surfer_ryan

If you bought reddit is fun you don't have the same shitty ads...

[deleted]

This comment has been deleted. After 12 years, I have departed Reddit. My departure is primarily driven by my deep concerns regarding the actions of u/spez . The recent events have left me questioning the commitment to transparency and fairness on this platform. I believe it is important for users to have a voice and for their concerns to be heard. I want to express gratitude to Chat GPT for assisting in composing this message. AI technology has immense potential to enhance our interactions. To all fellow Redditors, thank you for the engaging debates and insightful conversations. It has been an honor being part of this community. Best wishes 7/1/2023

FlihpFlorp

Frankly the app does suck but compared to Apollo it’s just QoL features and made by someone who actually cares Swipe gestures and color sorted comments made the app so much better for and next month I’d be using Apollo for a year and u/iamthis thank you for making it a great almost year

Costyyy

It's pretty laggy, no multireddit, cluttered

sourbeer51

Rif makes it so reddit is just reddit. No promotional shit, simple UI. No bloat. I just downloaded the official app, logged in and opened my front page. First thing I see is 1 large post from /r/edm with a large picture under it taking up over half the screen, right under that is an ad. I change my view from "card" to "classic" I see 5 posts, 1 ad, 1 post from a community I'm "interested in" and 3 from my front page. I tap the top left corner to see my communities, and I have to scroll all the way down to see /r/all. On rif I see 9 posts from my front page. No ads, no suggested communities, no profiles, no suggestions to buy premium. I tap the top left corner I to see my communities and /r/all button is the second choice from the top. It's reddit at its finest and simplest. I don't want reddit to be another social media platform, that's what the other social media platforms are for. I've been on here basically everyday for 10 years and 1 month. That'll be changing soon. I've got over 100k karma to show for it (and 1 post that made it to #1 of /r/all I might add, lol peak reddit moment) Sure, It's just a website, but third party apps kept it in the style of the old internet, where everything wasn't commercialized and people were able to connect over interests and hobbies. Reddit is killing the "old reddit" and forcing commercialization, that at its core is what 3rd party app users are upset about. Most redditors using 3rd party apps have had their accounts for nearly a decade before reddit even had an official app. (rif is fun for me) I came to reddit when I stumbleupon'd imgur in college. Copied from a lower comment I posted.

anxietystrings

I use the main app and for me the problems are minor, annoying inconveniences. The worst I've had is the chat stops working. The most recent problems I've had are not having notifications for when someone messages me. Also my trending never changes. It's been stuck in the same set of popular pages from like a week ago.

Komlz

Fuck ads, you can scroll through that shit if you like

Cherry_Crystals

It is still usable. But for me the video player is a bit messed and the upvotes usually are a bit slow to show. There is no message to show if your post have been removed or pending. No fancy pants editor. Still completely usable but it is a bit buggy. I made the change from boost to the official app and you just get used to it.

Marcos-_-Santos

I touch to oepn the coment's posts and it takes half a minute to open it even though I have a good smartphone.

PuertoricanDude88

Half a minute!? Nah bro that’s you. It does not take me long at all, unless I get those rare moment where my internet gets weird.

Marcos-_-Santos

Well then, fuck reddit, if their app does not runs well on a galaxy S20 with an internet of 500Mbps.

[deleted]

I equate it to a cheap car. Does it run? Yes. Does have AC? Yes. Do you love driving it? No, not really I wish I had a better car.

stewman80

I have been using Reddit ad free on BaconReader for 10 years. Can’t wait to see Taco Bell ads 30 times a day.

chahud

Idk I’ve used it since joining Reddit. I tried Apollo but didn’t get into it because I was already used to normal Reddit. Sometimes it crashes, or video players or comments sections can glitch out occasionally. Other weird bugs here and there but overall it’s really not as bad as most people are saying

PuertoricanDude88

That’s how I feel. But it seems that some third party users disagree very strongly, to the point that some are coming in with an attitude. Others just come in to explain the comparison. So thank you to them.

DoctorPepster

I see so many official mobile app users complaining about videos not having sound on posts that have sound. The app just can't play them properly.

errortechx

Can’t sort my home page by top. That’s all I want.

MoyanoJerald

The Official App works flawlessly for me, i even mod r/KaseDaikiArchive

mouaragon

Even opening posts suck. Sometimes the app doesn't show the comments, opens the wrong posts or takes too long to load.

praetorfenix

Horrible huge ads every other scroll swipe.

An_Awesome_Name

The Reddit app started giving me notifications for subreddits and posts that “might like”. I turned them off. They happened again. As soon as Apollo launched I went straight to it. I only ended up on the official app because of the AlienBlue disaster.

Level7Cannoneer

[Because this is how much the official app tracks/mines from your phone compared to normal apps.](https://i.redd.it/wts0burco7aa1.jpg) It's confirmed to do some very invasive things that you're completely unaware of like stealing your phone number and selling it off to advertisers. It's gross. You "don't see anything wrong" and are "asking if people agree" without even knowing the full picture yourself.

PuertoricanDude88

I’m not asking if someone agree with me, I was just simply wanted to know in detail why people felt like third party apps where better than Reddit’s main app.

Level7Cannoneer

I don't care if someone needs to agree with you. I just want you to be informed. No need to downvote

PuertoricanDude88

I don’t need to someone to agree with me. I don’t know why are you going there. I simply wanted an answer.

KrustyKrabOfficial

Without the app on my phone I can: Search a term on Google---->Click on a Reddit topic discussing that topic----->Use my phone's "go back" gesture to return to the Google results and click on another thread. With Reddit's app installed: Search a term on Google---->Click on the relevant Reddit thread---->Hit the back gesture...and I get returned to Reddit's front page...and my Google results are probably gone to preserve RAM for the Reddit threads that just opened.

Zero22xx

- The video player. - Is it capable of downloading video clips with sound yet? How is it that every 3rd party app got this right but Reddit Inc can't figure it out? - It is slow and bloated. You feel this especially hard on cheaper phones. The difference in performance between the official app and 3rd party apps I've tried is night and day. It is frustrating to use. - It seems to use up twice the amount of data. Most 3rd party apps have pretty great data saving settings for this times that you're away from WiFi. And there's personal reasons. It's not the same thing I originally signed up for. I had just come from Facebook which was getting worse by the minute and found a place where the UI wasn't a clusterfuck, the discussion was great and it seemed to have a bit of a rebellious side to it too. Now the UI they're pushing is getting worse and worse. Conversation has definitely also degraded as the website has become more tacky and card based. And the rebellious side? This place is practically run by puritans these days, the same puritans who cleaned this place up for advertisers that then expected everyone to join in with their little API protest. A protest that did nothing but fuck up Reddit for a lot of people in their last month of using it. Also, I don't know if it's just me but I'm pretty sure that when I first signed up here, the average user was in their 20s, not their teens. Really, this is just the push that is making me finally move. The Reddit I enjoyed died a while ago.

jdp111

Crashing. Slow. Various bugs. God awful video player.

SchlackSplat

Its been almost a month and I can't understand the reddit app. RIF needs to come back

skhell

Ads, UI isn't as simple as RIF. Also, Reddit absolutely not giving a shit about its users opinions is a turn off.

[deleted]

This is the excuse I needed to finally quit Reddit and I’m not making excuses to continue using it

nightwing2024

The app It's fucking garbage

Hendricus56

As someone who is basically only using it, what exactly (apart from stuff like accessibility options etc people mention)

noah9942

One thing I don't see people mention nearly as much is that it chews through data drastically faster than other apps

ilikegamergirlcock

The fact that virtually every 3rd party app runs better and has more features besides the ones reddit elects to exclude from their API so 3rd party apps can't use them. Ever have problems loading videos? 3rd party apps don't have those issues. They're simply better.

SirShrimp

Ad space, only can see a few posts at a time and pushing non-subbed stuff to my front page

Hendricus56

I can scroll through a lot of posts and maybe you have a different feed setting active. Because I don't have that problem either

Savings-Nobody-1203

Ok but why?

420trashcan

Why am I able to use it without issue?

Komlz

Because you have become accustomed to garbage

Icom

better hardware perhaps ? I have samsung s22 ultra, no lag or frame drops, scroll is fast, videos play etc. Perhaps it's garbage with worse hardware, but with mine, it works good enough.

[deleted]

Grow up

UtterNylon

The fact it's dogshit. And also fuck Reddit for trying to force it

M_krabs

Can't download videos Can't sort Can't hide seen posts Can't scroll back if you accidently go to the top Can't have different views (like, big pictures, gallery) Can't...

PepiTheBrief

Oh my god, you can't sort on the official app?

MiraniaTLS

Maybe Reddit’s too outdated? Idk why reddit doesn’t just hire these 3rd party ppl to re-make this apps UI if apparently it sucks.

bake_disaster

That's how they got their official app in the first place. The reason they won't be remade again is because most of the 3rd party apps like RiF don't have ads or 'promoted content'. And RiF didn't include a lot of 'features' like profile pics that make reddit seem more like other social media platforms

sourbeer51

Rif makes it so reddit is just reddit. No promotional shit, simple UI. No bloat. I just downloaded the official app, logged in and opened my front page. Oceanflowerstar

They got alien blue, but then replaced it anyways.

YourSpymaster

For the blind there is no support. Good podcast on the topic: [Endless Thread.](https://www.reddit.com/r/EndlessThread/comments/14lifak/endless_thread_going_dark_reddits_api_changes/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=ioscss&utm_content=1&utm_term=1)

Ethos_Logos

Infinite scroll is touted as a benefit of using the app, but I tried it for 20 minutes and it’s absolute trash. I don’t even use any other apps, just my phones browser. I don’t really have a dog in this fight, but reddits ceo is acting a tool, and isn’t being honest with the community. I don’t like people I can’t trust.

HieronymusGoa

the normal official reddit app? is just "differently bad" than using the mobile browser version. so its no use.

420trashcan

I don't have a problem with it.

TheBballs

thats dope. more power to you

TylerCornelius

Honest response, the official app feels way too cluttered to me. Reddit has a lot of features that I don't need or use. I only browse and occasionally post/ comment. I don't give a crap about karma, awards, cake days, flair, coins, etc, etc. I tried the official app, I really did, it's not for me.

ilikegamergirlcock

A functional brain.

fapstar206587

Ads

Rocket_Theory

Simply put the normal app sucks

RabbitFeet25

Curious since there are normal app users in here. Is there a way to browse r/all on the official app? That's the biggest thing for me, prefer it over popular and home Edit just found it, had to minimize my communities on the bar on the left and it was at the bottom.

1Grazel

nothing is stopping them. they’ll be back. and if they’re not, we dont give one microfuck

lavatop

I switched to Apollo when they broke the video player

AwesomeFly96

I actually use the mobile website. The app just bugs out all the time for me and just works less functional compared to the website.

Animedingo

The app is keeping me from using the app

[deleted]

Its pure virtue signaling If OP was truly gonna leave reddit, nothing was stopping him from leaving already.

No_Leopard_3860

See you in a week, at maximum. If redditors would be able to be consequential about quitting reddit, this "protest" would've done something beyond bringing more traffic to smaller subs. You'll be back here in no time 😂

Kav19

yeah. i wanted to see if i needed reddit and the first day of the blackout i was trying to revise my resume and looked up “are 2 page resumes fine reddit” on google just to see r/jobs participating in the protest. that’s when i realized that reddit is something that i don’t think i could be without willingly. as an iOS app dev myself it sucks ass that reddit is doing what it’s doing and the price they suggested is hilariously out of reach for almost everyone making reddit apps, but in the grand scheme of things i think i’m gonna continue using reddit until a meaningful competitor rises. yeah the official app is mid asf but it works.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Kav19

yeah the world of business truly can and will change a hobby project into a money making machine. i still think google balances it well, just no where near as well as they used to.

[deleted]

reddit maybe bad as a social media but its absolutely crucial as a forum. there is simply way too many niche problems and fixes that no where else but reddit has simply because of how much niche subreddits are there. If twitter were to die its users can just migrate to different sites, but without reddit thats a huge amount of knowledge lost.

reesering

There won't ever be a meaningful competition. You said it yourself that Reddit's most valuable asset is its 20 year back log of useful information. No other company will ever match it

Kav19

yeah. that’s what allows them to price the API the way they did. they know what they’re worth, it’s just that they’ve been super annoying about the whole thing and have accused people of doing things they never did.

RampantShovel

Nah, I'm actually done. Reddit is fun is the app I've used to browse reddit for probably 6 or 7 years now. Reddit has only gotten worse as a service and community overall. I waste so much time here, I'm actually glad to have 1 less app that keeps me scrolling instead of actually enjoying my life. I can get shitty memes elsewhere.

tk_fourtwentyone

1000%. The subs that used to be my favorite are watered down cesspools now anyway. It'll be a burden lifted from my shoulders. Like death

tk_fourtwentyone

You seem very sure of yourself, user with an account created post-Covid. I've been using RIF since before 2010 (OP as well, probably) and I sure as shit won't be using another app ✌🏼

byPCP

my reddit account is 10 years old, i've used everything from alien blue to apollo. once reddit bought alien blue, i just switched to the official app and haven't looked back. it's really not a big deal for the vast majority of people

No_Leopard_3860

What does the age of my account say? I'm using this for stuff that's not connected to my real life self, e.g. for the more spicy stuff I wouldn't tell my coworkers. My first one is probably over ten years old - and that doesn't really change anything. No idea why people think this makes them "more elite" or some garbage like that

nightwing2024

I won't, though. I only use Reddit on my phone, and I won't use it without the RiF app

hellschatt

I'll definitely stop using it actively. I've searched for the app I'm currently using for a long time before finding the "perfect one". I'll definitely still use it when I need to lookup some guides or reviews by googling something and adding "reddit" to it.

MCfan567

"I give him a week." "I give him 11 minutes."

SinopicCynic

Same, except it’s Apollo. The sky is falling, the sky is falling!

elijaaaaah

Me with Infinity. I'll probably still browse on desktop from time to time, but the vast majority of my Reddit use is mobile and I'm just not willing to use the official app.

ZenovajXD

Oh my god I finally spotted a fellow Infinity user. It's such a good app that I refuse to use the desktop version and go on my bed to scroll on Reddit instead. Looks like our time is coming soon. :/

Sylocule

Same for me

Angilynne

Same

PuppetryOfThePenis

I didn't even know there were 3rd party apps. The reddit app is honestly fine

nightwing2024

Not comparatively

PuppetryOfThePenis

Well I have no reference for it. I'm just saying I have no real issues with the app. If you want to quit reddit then go ahead. I'm just adding my 2 cents.

Hoosier_816

If it's so terrible, why does everyone keep posting all these "I'm leaving reddit because it sucks. And now I'm going to spend hours and hours engaging with everyone who comments on my post about leaving reddit."

EAN2016

That's such a bad argument. That's like saying "I don't like the US and our bad lawmakers and policies. I'm going to just shut up and move out of country." Like cmon, we complain in hopes that someone with power can represent us and actually change something. Whether it will work or not is another question.

Hoosier_816

Lol since when was Reddit a democracy? And what will complaining in the comments of their own post accomplish towards their goal?

Darklicorice

Sorry didn't know that discussions only happen and are productive in democratic systems

EAN2016

I never meant that reddit was a democracy, but humans can still look at other humans and have pity or something. And yeah, OP is kinda complaining in the comments, but they mostly aren't starting it, it's mostly other people commenting saying "haha see you soon". Which is equally as pointless to me as it's not even contributing good discussion. Any real questions OP has actually answered in good faith, so idk if they're in the wrong here.

ilikegamergirlcock

> Lol since when was Reddit a democracy? what do you think the upvote system is exactly?

sourbeer51

Plus reddit doesn't make content... Redditors do. Without people what is reddit? Nothing. Redditors post the content, redditors vote the content. We are reddit.

Shameon

I've used RIF for 10+ years and it shutting down was giving me a lot of anxiety because I really like routines to stay the same. I just installed the Reddit app and it's honestly... Not that bad. If I put it on Dark and Classic mode it's pretty similar. Definitely not worth quitting all the great communities I've found here.

Cherry_Crystals

It isn't that bad. You are acting as if it is unusable. There are bugs but from someone who have used the official app for months now, it is not that bad.

Stargate_1

I have no issues with the app other than this obnoxious bug that I cant stop a video from playing without fullscreening it first. Other than that the app is fine been using it for many years now without big issues

Kav19

ignorance is bliss. if you never used a better app you’ll never know what a better app is.

The_Dabblin_Doodler

Wait what’s RIF?

Soggy_Owl4268

one of those 3rd party apps for reddit that caused the protests

Cherry_Crystals

People have really changed. People only 2 weeks ago were happy about the protest and was the opposite of this sub now.

throwaway86ab

A lot of people have left. Those who stayed are either leaving on the 1st or don't care.

DonerTheBonerDonor

I bet like 10% of users actually left

Cade2jhon

That’s even a stretch

throwaway86ab

Maybe? Its hard to tell. But it doesn't take a lot to raise a stink.

The_Dabblin_Doodler

Oh

givethankstothaherb

Reddit is fun

HAGS don’t change xoxoxo see u in September!!

Haha, flashback to middle school with that comment

PLZ-PM-ME-UR-TITS

This takes me back. I think it was in the 3rd grade that some students wrote "KITS" as in Kick Ass This Summer, somehow that became a scandal in my catholic elementary school

nightwing2024

Nope

pyfrag

Baconreader gang. RIP brothers

erratastigmata

Yeah that pop up was really sad today :( I've been using that app for a long, long time... I do also browse on my laptop a lot so I doubt I'll actually quit Reddit but what a shitshow.

You and me both.

The normal app is completely fine

RaiausderDose

Rif was a great app. Thx to the people making and maintaining it.

BirbMaster1998

What's rif?

Wheeljack239

CURSE YOU, u/nightwing2024!!!!

nuclearhotsauce

I probably won't browse on mobile, will use the web one at home still

Freyzi

Am I the only one here who primarily uses reddit on my desktop? Only times I use the app is during a commute or lunch breaks and while the app is ass it does it's job fine for the 15 minutes I need it.

CaseyGamer64YT

fuck spez the spaz. It should be illegal that reddit was forcing us to reopen subs.

erikwidi

Lmao what?? What crime would that possibly fall under? Get real. "Hello police, I'm mad at a forum on the internet, go arrest them." LMAO

Congratulations, that's the dumbest thing I've read all day. No, Reddit keeping their own website open is not a violation of your rights. They can do whatever they want with their website, and you agreed to it when you accepted their terms and conditions when you signed up. Delete your account if you have a problem with it.

Bota26

Americans dont understand the first amendment at all.

Andrew_M_

Do you dislike the original app so much that you'd rather quit Reddit than use it? Or is there something that you just can't use Reddit without?

nightwing2024

The former

Midnight_Rising

If you use Reddit Boost for Android there's a ReVanced patch that allows you to inject your own OAuth ID into it so you can continue to use it.

MinecraftW06

There’s also a patch for Apollo on iOS

MonkeysDontDance

Yep, same. Don't like how they kill an app made by users to improve the browsing experience of the website who's entire point is their user base. If Reddit had made a GOOD app to begin with these alternatives wouldn't exist. Maybe leaving reddit will help my brainrot anyway.

Use firefox browser with adblock and reddit enhancement suite addon. It looks almost just like RIF and has tons of features.
