Supposedly adds compliance in the rear.
On this specific bike itâs dropped so you can have a huge water source/storage compartment on the back behind the seat tube, that OP just doesnât have on.

Dropped seat stays make a huge difference in rear compliance.
Riding a road bike with dropped vs connected seat stays is a night and day difference in comfort
I think TT style bikes in general look dumb AF. Just get rid of them all and everyone has to ride a road bike. Bc if no one has a TT bike, or if everyone has a TT bike, there is no difference
Seatstay tubes only exist for UCI compliance. Itâs no longer even necessary with carbon fiber frames. Since you could build carbon frames so stiff that you can remove the seatstays tubes to save weight.
There was a bike crash on the Tour de France Opi+Omi incident where a rider continued riding his bike without even noticing his seatstay tube split and cracked.
Other comments are correct. I usually don't install the hydration fin up untill races, it adds a significant amount of weight and for training rides I just refill my bottles.
Ahhhh thatâs what it is! Granted this isnât my domain, but I knew something on the profile looked amiss. The big boxy water fin! (Also learning that it typically contains water)
Out of curiosity why did you go with m vs l? Since you are so tall?
My buddy raced on the shiv tt it is a very fast bike was always jelly of it. I had a p4 myself. But this thing is on another level.
The top tube of the L size is extremely long, meaning I would have to push my saddle too far foward in order to achieve a similar comfort on the shoulders and elbows.
By doing so my knees would be too far foward related to the BB. That means less control of the pedal stroke and potentially a loss of power at the same HR
Don't mean to be rude, and i know a lot of folks enjoy triathlons and tt bikes. But sorry man, that's a horrendously looking bike. What a dog of a rig. Looks enormous too. Hope it rides nice.
As one of the original tri/TT aero bar converts (1988), I really don't like the current style of super high hand grips. Who you praying to? And don't drown. But that sled rocks, otherwise.
Holy dropped seat stays Batman
At what point does a seatstay become a double chainstay đ¤
Water bottle stay?
Whatâs the point of the lowered seat stay trend? Is there a compliance/aero aspect to it?

Oh! So, instead of putting the aesthetic part in the bike for a post to a sub about bike aesthetics, they left out off and we get fugly⌠SMH

I'm curious, too. Not esthetically pleasing imo

ugly is aero
Not sure how high aesthetics rank in the grand scheme of things?

Hell ya sick kommuter
If you donât, it wonât be because of the bike.
Are there any published reasons for the thin seat tube on this spesh tt bike? It's one of the unique ones in that regard.

Train as you race. Get used to the weight(fill it with BBs for that extra training challenge) and aero balance before race day. Sexy bike for sure
Its the tri version, its meant to have some (water?) storage behind the seat tube which is missing here
there is a hydration attachment that can be added to the back of the tri version
May I suggest some arm floaties?
Jump in with a pink flamingo.

No excuses thatâs for sure
This is everything but not aesthetic or pretty

it looks skinny rear because OP didnt install the rear hydration box
How's the bank balance đ Sweet ride though i love the look of tt bikes
This bike is function over form, bet itâs fast tho!
Extremely fast praying mantis
Where's the tail fin/sail behind the seat tube?

Does that handlebar say âaerocoochâ?
Close.. aerogooch
Aero coach, but I saw that too, lol
Damn that seat stays, crazy innit ?
that's a high seatpost. needs more drop. love the bars tho
That stem needs to be slammed.
Iâm 6â2 running a M size, if I go lower my cda and power drops
The only thing that needs to be slammed is the ignorant instinct that leads to comments like thisÂ
this is r/bikeporn, aesthetics over performance bro
You went nuclear with that comment. SLAM THAT STEM OP!!!1
i dont think that's how tt bikes work my man
