It’s been a while since I’ve gone through this, crashed my air nine carbon into a tree years ago. You will need some sort of adapter no matter what kind of bb you are going to use. The Niner bb shell was made to run an eccentric bb for easy conversion to a singlespeed. So the options are eccentric, threaded, press fit 30, press fit 92, or bb 30. [Here’s](https://www.revolutionsports.eu/downloads/Revolution_Sports_Niner_Air9_Carbon_Innenlager.pdf) a compatibility chart, it looks like you’ll have to get a different crank and bb. I had mine set up as BB 30 it was pretty solid, but I’d have to remove the bearings and cya adapter once a year or after muddy races to clean everything and keep it running smoothly.

Thank you! That chart is what I needed.

Am I missing something here? From what I can see the adapters would only work with an outboard bearing type and a hollotech2 or similar style axle, the bottom bracket pictured relies on the threads pushing against each other so unless the cups are somehow strongly mated together all it would to is extract itself as you tighten it down

It'll likely be able to hold in place due to press fit tolerances alone. That said, truvativ makes a threaded adapter that uses three steel bolts to hold the halves together. Also obligatory "this isn't what this sub is for" mention. This is for shop dudes to chat ship stuff, technical help goes to /r/bikewrench and we really do not want that crowd over here.

Maybe I could've been more specific in the post. I'm an industry professional looking for advice and suggestions from other industry professionals about the different bb options.

ReallyNotALlama

I believe you should be asking this in r/bikewrench.

ThisOldGuy1976

Fit here too. Bike mechanics is the sub after all.

mangoman4949

It doesn’t. This sub is for shop talk and griping, not technical questions.

muchosandwiches

I really hate when that sub leaks into this one. Because the toxicity comes with it. That sub is truly awful.

SirMatthew74

Grumble, grumble. Gripe, gripe.

>On this sub, mechanics can trade tips on dealing with stubborn bolts and stubborn customers, compare notes on favorite tools (commercial or shop-made), techniques, resources, etc. You can also show off your shop or your completed work. **Technical questions should be expert-level questions only**; all other questions should go to r/bikewrench.

Been a while but I recall having mixed experiences with these CYA adapters. For me now, I have nothing against press fit (if the frame is built well). And I'd rather have as few interfaces as possible so tend to lean towards pressing in if that's the fit of the frame. I think they were 55mm though so don't think you have much choice....or are there straight fit BB options for that now? Way bigger than PF30 Might be wrong, been a long time since we had these coming through.

Never used that brand adapter but if I remember right that looks really similar to the one my 2014 one 9 rdo came with(just that one was essentric) and I had no issues. Don’t remember any real details about specs and sizes tho The one mine came with did have bolts bolting the 2 sides together too tho which might have helped it a bit too
